Migtaines, Chronic Pain and Depression/Anxiety what is the connection?

Does anyone have any tips to keep physical pain from worsening anxiety and depression? Yesterday my day ended with a terrible migraine. I started getting them as a child and get BOTOX injections every three months to keep them somewhat at bay. Since I was in bed so early trying to sleep it off I have been wide awake since 4am and will be off most of today. I know my triggers and control the ones I can but I can't control the weather. I also am in chronic pain from fibromyalgia and arthritis. I get so frustrated with all of this because it seems to be a huge tangled ball of yarn. The physical tangled with the mental in one big knotted mess.

Thanks. The migraine is gone for now but when I have an especially bad one the next day I have what I call a "migraine hangover" lol Wiped out and a little brain fog. We are supposed to have rain and snow today so hopefully it won't come back. Just in case ice pack, sleep mask and essential oils are all set.

Sure. Migraines are pretty normal as the constant stress makes your blood-pressure jump around a lot. I've had migraines from depressive state + other factors.

Light consistent sports help a lot.

I have observed quite severe migraines in my mother - when I was just a baby about 4yo, we lived in countryside and it was times where people were under great hardships, my dad worked all day and drank and mom took care of the house and she was working non-stop. And she had bouts where she would suddenly have such sharp pains in head she only cried in bed.

I figure the amount of stress and almost inescapable daily reality made both parents very depressive and made them prone to debilitating stress (they were about 25-30 at the time).

note - both parents are alive, together, happy and very healthy, loving, now -30 years later.

Thanks. I know stress is a trigger. Weather is a huge trigger too and we had a cold front move through yesterday bringing rain and snow today. Never considered blood pressure but it makes sense. Happy to hear your parents are happy and healthy.

I know - I am a 50-year old woman going through menopause and also dealing with the chronic pain/depression/fibro tangled ball. A good fibro pain med that is activating I think is the key, paired with sunshine and exercise. I really like Savella, it works wonders. Don't want Lyrica or Neurontin because those are sedating and not helpful to me.

Only take Neurontin at bedtime to help me sleep. When the migraines come I can't use any triptans because of the side effects so still working on finding something. Thanks for sharing what helps ypu.
