Anyone on 40mg of fluoxetine and seen little / no improvements?

My mood is still really up and down - been on 20mg for a year and over the past month increased to 40mg....

I was unable to tolerate it and had to come off and try something else. If you are not seeing any improvements then could you ask your doctor if you can try something else? There are so many out there.

i am due to have a meds review with the doctor now so maybe i’ll chat with him! have you found that other antidepressants have worked for you? i’ve tried 3 now and none of them have seemed to work for long period of time... thank you 😊

I am now on vorteoxatine and amisulpride. It is odd but for me an antidepressant alone is not enough. I am glad you have a review soon and you can discuss things with your doctor.

Maybe i need something alongside it or a different drug perhaps! thank you... i am seeing my GP today 😀 fingers crossed

I am on Fluoxetine 40 mg. There was some improvement but not a lot. He then added Abilify and it turned me around. It appears the two are my magic dosages

I will discuss with my doctor what he thinks to see if anything else can help me.. i’m glad you found something what works for you !

I tried 3 antidepressants and none of them worked.

Ive tried zoloft, lexapro, and trazodone which is an snri but still an antidepressant. They all made me worse for the most part or didnt help. I do feel like i need a different class of meds though. I am more panic disorder,ptsd, ocd, bipolar than depressed or anxious. Also a TON of head physical symptoms.. i only take ativan now when i need it, which is quite often. Benzos work for me atleast temporarily. Tried everything natural as well.

ahh so you have tried quite a few different things... i suppose drugs don’t work for every body and yes definitely different drugs for those illnesses... i will ask my GP to prescribe something else and if not maybe i can try living without meds... thank you for replying 😌

Could not tolerate it, put me on Lexepro great medication, I have no side effects and feel calm and full of life.

i’m so glad you have found a medication that works for you! i will definitly discuss with my GP about changing meds

I'd go back to your gp and possibly have a higher dose.

I have reduced my dose from 120mg per day to 70mg per day and am about to reduce it further. I'd like to be off this medication in 6 months. It helped me tremendously. I've been on it 4 years but feel I can cope without it now.
