I have always been known to having very good memory, but recently i have been feeling foggy , lack of concentration ,i can memorize pretty easily thats not affected ..but my SHORT term memory is really lacking, not the long term , like i just forget minor things about my day and ,previous days , for example what app i was on , or if i took my meds or questions on An exam , stuff like that , or forget to do things or certain events sometimes and i find myself needing to put alarms and reminders for all sort of stuff, my life currently is really busy and maybe thats a reason because like i have alot on my mind but i just feel a bit off , im trying not to worry but i get these scary thoughts that it can worsen or something like that
What bothers me is that sometimes i forget certain words too when im talking i find myself nit finding the appropriate words to describe things if that makes sense , and i forget certain things that happened to friends and family, i find them often telling me things like “whats wrong with you , i told you that before”
I guess my question is , Is this usual with anxiety ?
Knowing i dont think something is wrong physically since i get regular checkups and i just got a full brain scan last year

It sure does, I definitely run into forgetting a word while conversating (very annoying). I never had the issue until I started getting anxiety. Anxiety messes with your system, it's a mental thing, so it's no wonder it also effects your thought process.
Well im really happy to hear im not alone, i was a little worried because i used to have a really good memory but now i find myself struggling to remember situations, events, words etc..
Thank you so much for your feedback
Like you,I used to have a really good memory. Now I struggle to remember most conversations and people often have to repeat information to me.
Im sorry to hear you suffer from that too, to me its just that i feel in a fog all the time that i can barely concentrate , sometimes simple sentences confuse me which is weird because i have always been i dont want to say smart, but atleast willing to learn and be knowledgable, so im not used to feeling foggy and with no concentration and focus most of the time, it comes and goes but its still very annoying
Thank you. It is a really horrid feeling. This may sound strange but have you ever looked into if you are intolerant to gluten? My brain fog went when I realised it was actually me being gluten intolerant. Just a thought.
Wow i actually never thought about that , i should definitely see , may it can help, i have been looking for any ways to help fix it because its really annoying when you start feeling like you cant rely on yourself to remember everything , like i want to get back to normal, im managing anxiety but sometimes anxiety attacks are too severe and thats ok , but i also meed help with the symptoms associated with it
I could be totally wrong but I just know with people who are intolerant to gluten it can cause that brain fog. I was constantly feeling that before I gave it up. Anxiety can be managed. It is that awful tired feeling that is so annoying!
Hello, I am behind with my email, I hope you see this. You bet it can. My husband used to say I had the memory of an elephant, now I cannot remember what I did a week ago unless I look at the calendar. Sometimes I cannot remember what I did yesterday.I do not think I have a gluten problem, But Memory problems are one of the number one problems that go with anxiety, and feeling tired and body aches, I have them all and they suck. My Dr. gave me a script for a short term of anti anxiety med's, it is Lorazepam, it is a big help. I tell people I am having anxiety problems, it is said 30 + million US citizens suffer with it every year, it is the number one complaint at Dr's offices. A good book to read is Hope and Help for your nerves by Dr. Claire Weeks, I believe it is available new/used at Amazon, I have it and use it. I wish you well, sending Peace, Love and Hugs.
