Does anyone have any experience with Lexapro? My Psychiatrist just prescribed it to me for my anxiety and fear. I am wondering if helped you, what the side effects were (if any), etc. Thank you in advance.

I love giraffes too. My motto from them is stand tall and carry on.
I don’t feel like I do it yet. Lexapro is a good med. I have tried many SSRI’s over 25 years. Some I know in a few days make me sick in some way.
Some have broken me out in hives and one for FMS caked Lyrica I am really allergic to. The whole face swell up thing. Finally one didn’t hurt me, used Paxil for years then had hand shaking problems. Changed to Lexapro. It was much better. I hear it is one of the most prescribed recent years.
My recommendation to you is to NOT look at the list of side affects that comes with the prescription and to trust your psychiatrist. Others may not agree, but that’s how I have to do it. Every single time I have to take a new med, if I read those side affects, I inevitably GET those side affects. If you’re scared, just make sure you try it on a weekend (or when you are not having to go to work or school) and make sure someone is home. Good luck and sending you a big hug!
I took the generic for approximately 3 months. Panic attacks were replaced by constant irritability punctuated by short tempered outbursts. Slept and felt terrible. Stopped taking it slowly over a couple of weeks time. Did nothing to relieve depression. 2 years later I still don’t feel like I did before I took it.
