Good evening, everyone!

I am new to this site. I have been looking for a support group either in physical or online form. Glad to be here.

My battle with anxiety began at an early age from trauma. The panic attacks were random but bad when they occurred, especially as a teen. I became a mother at 20 and they amped up to where I couldn't sleep. I never even thought about medication at the time. They went away after about a year or so. Then, I got pregnant at 25 and they were amped up during my pregnancy, the birth, and after. When my son was 9 months old, I fell into a deep depression that required hospitalization and went through the ringer with meds and a misdiagnosis of Bipolar disorder.

Finally, I was put on Effexor XR 150 mg a day and that was my miracle drug as I always say. I sought therapy but, frankly, I have always had a hard time with the psych professionals. My misdiagnosis made me distrustful of the community. I found a psych and worked with him for a little while. He tapered me off the Effexor to see if I wouldn't need it anymore.

I did well for about a year or so but fell into that hole again in 2009 and needed to be hospitalized. I was put on Effexor again and it worked. I was good for another 10 years. Recently, the dosage stopped working and I started to feel like I was falling again. I was hospitalized again and the dosage was increased to 225 mg. I was also diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes and put on Metformin. Xanax was given at a low dose until the increase kicked in. It has been about a month since the increase and I am starting to feel relief and getting ready to taper off the Xanax. I feel so much more relaxed and even went back to work. Can anyone relate to this?

You've had a rocky road. Some of your depression seems to have been around the time you had babies. Any hormonal connection?

I have been on the emotional rollercoaster for many years. I've never been hospitalized but have been through a day program.

I'm on Effexor 225 among a few other things. Been in therapy a big time and making progress.

I hope things begin to stabilize out for you it's a difficult and frustrating path. Sounds like you are making progress.
