Todays Interesting Takeaway

Today in my Health Behaviors Theories class, I discovered what distinguishes the difference between pleasure and happiness, which I think explains why my depression continues, and maybe for you too. The picture I provided was the one showed in my class. I realized that I do many things that are categorized as pleasure, such as watching a comedy for a short time. Doing this does not set me up to be happy in the long-run, though.

Needless to say, today was definitely a good lesson learned, and it's a great reminder as to what it takes to be happy and not be confused with what may only seem like happiness but is not true happiness, only pleasure.

To anyone who read this, I hope it was insightful; it definitely was to me. ✌🏼

I did not know that dopamine downregulates serotonin. That's interesting info. Thank you. I've been a 'pleasure seeker' all of my life!

Me too! Now it makes me want to analyze situations and think, will this help me pursue happiness, or only give me pleasure?

Another way of putting it is: "Happiness isn't having what you want. It's wanting what you have."
