my mind suddenly went into dilemma ,whether i should be taking drugs to control my depression and anxiety or not . Then i realized , taking drugs would kill me earlier than not taking them, the reason being ,at the end our systems would fail like liver, kidneys, heart, circulation, etc. Is this suffering actually a suffering? Are we reducing suffering by taking drugs? Why not live like when we were born,we just ate food, played ,smiled, ran away here and there, had no fears,no worries, just enjoyed everything life threw at us. We can take drugs to be happy,we may not feel depressed. But is it so difficult for us to atleast feel the way we wanted? Is drugs the only solution? I know the answer , the answer is our needs are endless, some of us want to impress our girlfriends when we get better, some of us wanna marry, some of us might be seeking a job,or buy a car. Since ,we can't achieve something due to what we feel right now, we seek treatment. Do u want life ? thats my question to u.
Just a question in mind lol - Anxiety and Depre...
Just a question in mind lol
Good Question...I want life. What good is just existing. Going after our dreams, being
productive is what life is all about. We are here for a reason. If it takes medication
so be it. We can't worry that the meds could shorten our life. We could be in the best
of health, cross the street and get hit by a car and die. There's no guarantees in life.
Life is about doing what we have to do to live it to the fullest. So that when we do die,
we can know that we lived and breathed life to the fullest.
I don't know if we could ever be as carefree and happy as we were when we were young
but there are other ways to get that happy feeling back besides medication.
Putting our self in a happy place mentally can achieve that "good feeling". Keeping our
mind and body youthful by regulating stress and not just focusing on problems. Take time
out to play. Let that inner child come out. Life doesn't have to be so serious.
With each time that I've been knocked down (and there have been plenty) I bounce back
and choose life each and every time. xx
yes ,you are right ,but may i ask ,if meds are cure ,why the hell are we talking anymore
Meds aren't a cure but they can help to relieve the symptoms so you are more able to tackle your issues. I think counselling is the way to get at the root of them so are you having any?
I saw a wonderful postcard once with a big god in the corner and a guy on his knees saying 'I don't want life god, have you got anything else'. The truth is there isn't anything else so you have to deal with what you have. x
yup
I agree with hypercat in that meds (especially for mental health issues) do not cure
but allow us to function better until we find other methods that may work. At the
beginning of my anxiety issues, I was on medication as well as therapy. It didn't
cure me just allowed me to go forward and not stay stuck while I found other ways
to help me. Once I found the tools that work, I was able to wean off my medication.
They aren't a cure within psychiatry/psychology. Diseases are cured, disorders and syndromes are treated for their symptoms, and only when benefit outweights the risk.
I was about to declare 'Analysis Paralysis!' lasthope12, but nice twist there at the end.
