Every time I’m in a situation with new people I don’t speak or do anything unless spoken to. When I do speak I’m very awkward which I’m usually not and start to sweat. I usually try to end the conversation as fast as possible bc I feel as if I’m being judged by everyone. Why is this

I can’t talk to new people
Is this in a group setting or even one on one? I know I hate it when all eyes are on me, especially around a group of people I barely know. I can hold a conversation one on one but if I'm asked a question in a group and everybody's attention is on me, I get hot and start getting red, then I get embarrassed. It's all in our heads. I'm no help on how to stop it, I haven't figured that out yet. Just wanted you to know you're not alone.

You sound like me! I suffer from social anxiety and my face always gets red in social situations and I’m always thinking “oh no what if my face gets red and they think I’m guilty of something!!!” It’s an awful feeling for sure and I get all hot too! I’m looking for help on this too, we’re in this together!
Hi! You might have few questions on your mind that you are ready to ask them. People love to talk about themselves! And they think you are a great conversationalist because you ask them about themselves. Start with Do you have any pets? Where do you work? what is your favorite movie? This will break the ice and make it easier to talk with them. Hopefully, they will ask you what you like so that it is not a one sided conversation. It takes practice! Don't expect to get over your uncomfortable feelings right away. It takes time and practice. You might get in a book club or study group too. This is a good way to get to know people but not one on one. Good luck!
