So i just started stuttering last year its weird cuz i kept messin up on my words. But not that bad. But now,,,, its kinda like a bit worse😨. Like idk what to do😨. Any ideas why this is happening? And im 14.. i know its hard to believe but this is actually what happened..... i never had this thing before. And im nervous about it. Im sure its not from stress. I mean i stress a lot but i dont blame it..... well i hit my head before when i fell on a huge rock in 3rd grade.

There's a lot in play here. The head injury could have possibly been traumatic depending when/where you hit the rock. Did your parents take you to a doctor and have you followed up on it? Also, you could be experiencing social anxiety issues. Fumbling over words and "messing up" speech is very common when confronting an anxious or panicked moment. Stress of any type can make things worse whether we think we have a handle on it or not. Stuttering can also occur later in life at anytime. While the odds of this are considerably lower than having speech issues as you developed, it is possible.

You need to talk to your parents and see a doctor so that you can have an assessment done. There are a lot of possibilities and you may even benefit from speech therapy if something is wrong. There's a lot of questions to answer: any medications, any other injuries, do you have anxiety, are you nervous in social situations, and so on. It's hard to give you an answer. The best and only answer is to see a doctor and talk to your parents about what you're going through. I hope they provide support and get you to a doctor who can solve this. Your age is below what is required here I think, so I would also seek some other support groups for teens....you may find out there are others out there like you struggling with speech and words.

Oh, I don't mean play like joke about it. I meant as in there could be multiple factors. Would never try to be non supportive. I think the stuttering and word jumbling could come from many things and that there may even be something you haven't thought of. I did a quick search and saw that stuttering is extremely common in relationship with anxiety, specifically social anxiety. I would have a doctor make sure the rock incident didn't hit an area of the brain that controls speech. You may even have a speech therapist run tests. It could be as easy as anxiety or something different. As I mentioned, onset stuttering later in life is a possibility (like 5%), so it's highly doubtful, but someone has to make up that 5% and maybe that's what's happening. Have your parents take you to a doctor as soon as they can and see what they say. I hope it's an easy fix and not something you have to worry about long term.

As for social anxiety and stuttering...you could see if your parents would help you find a CBT trained therapist who can work you through social anxiousness which in turn might get rid of the stuttering since you're in the scenario with a calmer demeanor. That's what I meant "in play"....I could ask you a thousand questions, but I'm not a doctor and I shouldn't play doctor :) Hope you find some answers!

Hey I stuttered from form the age of 7 till I was 16 I know how u feel . The way I got it to calm down . I looked in the mirror and rehearsed things I knew I would say from day to day. Then before I would tlk I would say what I was going to say in my mind over over and then slowly and calmly say it . Now if I was around a pretty girl I would have to really focus and it got better very quickly over time keep your head up and keep trying never stop. It will pay off
