Anxiety releif

I’ve had near constant anxiety for the past 24 hours straight. I woke up yesterday morning with a tight chest, racing thoughts, and a nervous stomach. This morning around 3 am, I had an anxiety attack. And tips for relief? I’ve tried just calming my thoughts or, exercise, even warm baths. I’m out of ideas and I really need some sort of relief soon. I have to go to my niece’s 2nd birthday party in a couple of hours and try to act normal, which isn’t helping either.

Hi! I struggle with anxiety myself and am sorry to hear you’re going through a rough patch. Something that helps me is timed breathing. Choose however many seconds you want (within reason) and inhale, hold, exhale. So it would be inhale for 4, hold for 4, exhale for 4. There’s an app calmed Calm that has a breathing timer that visually takes you through it and I’m sure you could find plenty online. Other than that, remember to drink water to keep your body happy and if you need a break during the party step into the restroom and do the breathing steps or just simply remind yourself that they want you there but you can leave whenever you need!

It did! Also I figured out I was dehydrated and felt a lot better after drinking 2 bottles of water

I find that chanting meditation can help. There are plenty of simple ones on youtube. I find that the act of focusing on the words I'm saying can help to break the racing thoughts in my head. When I first came across it, I thought it sounded silly but it really does work for me.

If I’m having a panic attack if I switch up my environment it helps a lot. I’ll go outside where it’s hot or cold. And breathing. Lots of slow and steady breathing
