Hi. I was on Zoloft for awhile and it did help my anxiety greatly. I’m not longer on it and my anxiety is becoming unbearable and affecting my relationship. I have switched medical insurances and the copays are ridiculous and I would have to pay my copay every visit which really sucks given I’m a full time college student and broke. I can’t afford to continuously pay the copays.
I was wondering if anyone has found an effective alternative anxiety relief. I’ve tried drug store stress relief pills but they don’t work for me. Has anyone tried any types of vitamins, essential oil blends or anything like that that helped with their anxiety?
Thanks

St. John’s Wort but it takes time to build up in your system. Valerian root or just good ol Benadryl to help you sleep. I’ve heard Kava works good, but I haven’t tried that. Or you could go to your schools clinic and have them prescribe a generic antidepressant. There are a lot of them out there. A lot of the name brand companies also have coupons for their drugs if you go to their website. Good luck and post back to let us know how you’re doing.
There's a list of generic antidepressants for like $4. I would suggest going to your schools clinic too. There's also this website for essential oils. It's on MONQ.com. I've never tried them, but I have been intrigued. It's suppose to be all natural. I think I might buy a few of them. <3
Have you ever tried drinking chamomile or lavender tea? They are calming & work for me, although I do take anxiety meds also! We need to change our healthcare system here in the US, it's so unfair to ones who can't afford it. I really feel for you & am here for you! Love & Hugs!!!
I actually bought some yesterday along with kava. I emptied the capsules into the tea but I’m not a tea person at all so it sucked lol. Do you add anything else to your tea to make it taste better? I tried honey but it was still blah.
I’ve been thinking about that a lot. I work full time at an elementary school and go to school full time and I can’t afford therapy/copays for doctor visits. It sucks!!
Sometimes I put honey in mine, I like it though, maybe after some time you'll come to enjoy the taste, at least I hope so for you! Have a beautiful day! Love & Hugs!!! XXX
I have had some luck with CALM. Its a natural Magnesium supplement. You take it with a little warm water and it seems to help me at times. In the meantime please realize that you may continue to deal with anxiety and although an antidepressant may not be necessary you may need a benzo here and there to help with the symptoms. I take xanax only as needed and a very low dosage (.25). However, during higher episodes my doctor recommends .50 as much as twice a day. The secret to anxiety management is to ACCEPT it and try and treat it the best you can. This is the best way to manage it. I wish you luck on finding your treatment plan. Feel free to stay in touch.
I’ve heard about CALM! I looked at the ingredients and like you said, found it to be magnesium heavy so I bought magnesium supplements and am now taking them.
I’m trying to hard to manage and fight through my anxiety and it is exhausting.
The thing about mg supplements is that the body doesnt always absorb the full amount. This was recommended to me by a nutritionist because it is fast absorbing and you get more of the MG. Make sure that you add hot water then I add cold water and drink it. It really does work for me.
