So - I had a Stroke 2 weeks ago and Open Heart Surgery 1 week ago today. Just feeling generally depressed, scared, and could use some positive thoughts. I appreciate any words. Thanks.

You really went through a lot. It’s obvious you feel scared! I hope that doctors have you on watch and that you’re being treated. ! Things will improve. Just take care, good good care, of yourself and stay with us. Talking helps !!!

Hi hjc2121.....here are some positive thoughts that I refer to in my

times of fear. I hope they may help you as well.

My favorite when life seems to hand me more than I can handle....

"Life's not about waiting for the storms to pass, It's about

learning to dance in the rain"...

"Life will bring you pain all by itself. Your responsibility is to

create joy "

"I have learned that some of the nicest people you'll ever meet are

those who have suffered a traumatic event or loss. I admire them for

their strength"

I admire you! I care :) xx

You will likely live manry more years if you follow doctor's orders. Heart disease is deadly if left undiagnosed, but once diagnosed it can be managed far more successfully than most serious life threatening conditions. Look for reasons to be thankful, and be well.

The worst part is over and you went through it like a pro. Now is time to take care of yourself, don't worry. We can't control all that happens with our bodies, we just have to do the best that we can.

A big big hug. Feel better soon.

My goodness, you've been through so much! I think those drugs you get in anaesthesia can linger for a while and make people feel down, plus your body has had so many changes lately. You hang in here and give this time. For now, just note the bad feelings and try to imagine them floating away as normal for what you've been through. Know that there are lots of people who care and let us surround you with hope and healing every time a thought comes along. You have a big job - to rest and recover, I'm sending warm wishes to you for strength and good health.

I have always heard that patients that have heart surgery most always have depression. I don't remember the reasoning that was given but I always wondered why the physician didn't address the possibility of depression. Depression is pain as far as I am concerned and I feel for you but know that while it does hurt it will go away. Please ask for medication because it takes awhile for it to work. Keep thinking that you have survived the worst part of your illnesses and now things will get better. The most important thing for you now is to not stress, be anxious or worry. Try to let your muscles relax and know it is going to be okay. Always ask for medication if you are in pain or if you are stressed, make certain they make you comfortable so you can heal. My prayers are with you.

well my two aunt's, mother, and grandmother all had open heart surgery's and it was tough going there for a while. It's a terrible shock to the system and we do feel quite fragile when something major like this stops us in our tracks...but you survived....and that's the beginning of your journey back. You will be on meds and have to take it easy for quite a long time....but look at it as an opportunity to write, read, do some art work that's not strenuous but gives you a peace and positive feeling.....don't fear what's already behind you....your moving forward now....and your not alone.....there are many hear with health issues that can understand......

I'm sorry you are having these health issues. It sounds like you are dealing with a lot right now. It is wise of you to post on this forum and ask for support. I hope that you can journal your feeling and thoughts. Listening to music is also very soothing.
