What's the best way to shut down a control freak? Talk to them or walk away.

always walk away.

Walking away is always the best. Many times they are so controlling, they can’t even control themselves.

When talking to them they tend to absorb all which is told to them and use it against the other individual. Manipulating the words into negativity. As to their advantage. Making matters worse.

Best to keep away from such. 👍🏻

Absolutely, walk away! 🤗👍🏻

They are so damn hard to talk to. Why not give them a warning first like "any crap and I'm walking away"

Walk away. You'll only upset yourself by talking to someone who won't listen. 🙃

Walk away, definitely. When they're in control mode, talking will always make it worse.

Walk away. It can get scary quick, or it can build so slow that you get caught and it's so much harder to get out.

Thank you for y'all because seeing everyone come up with the same answer shows me that I'm doing the best thing to protect myself by like Jenny said, Run Forest, Run. Thanks again

Good, I'm glad you chose to run, definitely the right decision! Remember why you have to do this and no matter what tactics they use to try to reel you back in, don't fall for it, they will try anything to hold on to that power they get from controlling you. They might even try to get information about you via other people, friends and family, by playing the victim and they can be very manipulative so watch out for that also. Good luck, be strong x

Controlling people don’t empathize well and are very manipulative. If they did listen some would gaslight or project guilt. Be cautious.
