Draining anxiety atacks with long lasting effects

Im in A&E waiting room while im typing this. Recently i had a few strange anxiety attacks which made me feel faint and weak (i didnt faint though) i had hot/cold flushes rushing through my body, nausea and sudden need to go to the toilet (sudden diarrhoea). They are not panic attacks, there is no hyperventilation and only mild palpitations. But the feeling of extreme fear is present! It usually passes after a few min but leaves me drained out of energy, weak and shaky and depressed. Nausea persists, as well as lack of appetite. Since those episodes started i lost 5 kg weight. And of course i worry it may be cancer, pancreas or stomach or bowel. Usually i can recover ok after panic attack quick. But these ones leave me exhausted for days. With stomach problems. Could it still be anxiety? IBS? Does anyone feel nauseaus with their anxiety 24/7? Im scared im dying from some illness but gp always blames anxiety because it is in my history. I also dont think that Prozac is working anymore (after 10years of taking it). Waiting for basic tests and ecg. Scared 🙁

Hey don’t beat yourself up, is time to go back to the doctor to talk to him about your concerns and be able to get some release and is hard but u are stronger than it. Many times, the thought of fear itself is greater than what it is we fear.”It's not easy to face your fears and push through them, but it's essential. ... You must do the thing you think you cannot do. .... and isn't important either to you or to someone you love is unneeded ...

Thanks for your kind words, i know you are right. When anxiety strikes it is hard to explain things to oneself rationally though. Back home now from hospital. All good. Bloods, ecg. So again it is ’only’ anxiety. I am feeling better knowing that physically im fine at least. But im soooooo tired of this. Sooo tired 😔 xx

Feel better. I experience all of your symptoms as well and I constantly think I’m having a heart attack with my left arm feeling funny and being lightheaded.

Hope you feel better! I truly understand how you feel and we can overcome this fear and worry!

Hi mags,

It’s great to get checked at the doctors just to make sure everything is normal. That alone will help anxiety. However, what you’ve explained (hot flashes, quick need to use the toilet) are some classic anxiety/panic symptoms. Just think good thoughts; anxiety manifests itself in many weird symptoms. Be still, be calm. You are going to be just fine.
