hi all... just joined this site and am hoping to find some support here. i’ve been suffering from severe depression for years. about a year ago it got to the point where i had to leave my really great job and move in with my parents. i’ve been living with them for almost a year and feel as if there’s no way out. i recently completed a course of ECT and it helped, but i still don’t have the confidence i once had and am finding it difficult to get back to myself and get a job and be on my own. i have support in family and friends, but they don’t “get it”. hoping to find some similar souls out there who do.

I know how hard it is to deal with depression and how people just don't understand what you are going through but just believe in yourself and you will be able to fight it it's more about your inner fight than what you do outside and don't give up cause you are winning

thank you for saying that. it’s amazing what support can do for you, or at least for me. it’s so easy to focus on the negative, but you’re right... i’m winning because i’m still here.

I joined this group yesterday and have shared my problems and small wins with everyone here. Trust me it feels good to know there are people who understand what I am going through without any judgement. I hope you feel the same.

Hello samrob, I think you'll find the people here really do 'get it' and will be able to offer you support and the reassurance that there is definitely light at the end of the tunnel. Depression is an illness that can be successfully treated. Please remain hopeful. Take care,

I am sorry you are dealing with this. It is good that you have taken some time to get your mental health better. Once you feel comfortable with your health, then focus on getting a job. Your mental health is the most important thing. Have you tried taking up a hobby? I think hobbies can help a lot with anxiety. I hope everything gets better!
