Sometimes I wish I could just stop going to work and stop getting out of bed but I know that I can’t. There are days that i use all of my energy just to get out of bed and get to work then somehow have to find more energy to make it through my day. I try to tell my boyfriend about it but I don’t think he understands. He says he suffers from depression too and doesn’t think it should be an excuse for things not being done around the house but all I want to do is lay in bed and cry most of the time. If I’m not crying then I’m watching tv or scrolling through social media but I just hate leaving the bed. I hate going to work. And I hate that I can’t change it. I do the same job every day. Nothing changes. On top of working full time I go to school full time. I still can’t help feeling like my life is stuck on repeat and idk what to do to change it.

Stuck in a rut
Sounds exactly like me , boyfriend thing and all..
Sometimes I wonder if depression affects women more than men in the sense that women are very emotional creatures and also all of our hormones. Maybe that’s why men don’t understand but I still wish they’d try a little harder.
I dont know, i havent ever been diagnosed but i read about it all the time and i seem to have the severe symptoms. And its even worse not having anyone to talk to , until i found this app. My boyfriend truly doesnt understand either and its so hard . Ive never been suicidal but i have wished to not be here and its crazy because im the complete opposite .
I pretty much self diagnosed as well and only got officially diagnosed about 2 months ago. I’ve been dealing with anxiety, depression and bipolar for 8 years without medication. Now I highly recommend going to a doctor as it made a big difference. This APP helps in places that meds can’t.
Hello Smg315!
Well, the 1st thing I would do would be to get out of the bed! Then I would engage more with life. We have to make ourselves get out and do things. Lying in bed ruminating over past failures and/or future problems cannot take place if you want to get better. Live/focus on today. Take baby steps in achieving your goals. You just have to make up your mind that you don’t want to lie around any longer!
When you have depression it can be very hard to do normal things but the first thing to strike me is if you are doing school full time and work full time you are doing far too much. You need alone time too to energise yourself and to rest. All work and no play etc. Can you cut your work down to part time? Or maybe take your schooling over a longer period? x
Unfortunately I can’t afford to go part time at work. I actually need another job just to pay bills but luckily my mother helps out with whatever she can. Also this is my last semester for this degree so I have to finish up so I can start a new degree next semester.
Sounds like you have a lot going on. Hope you can go out for a breather in nature.
Hi, I hope you're feeling better today. I understand that depression can try to take away all your motivations, but just remember that in life, there are things that just must be done, regardless of what I feel. Giving in to what I "feel like" in the moment can begin to lead you down a bad path. It may "feel right" but in the end, it will make things uglier. I say don't give in to depression without a fight. There are days that we want to hide from the world, but once we get out there, things are usually better than we anticipate. Don't feel that you have to tackle everything at once, but take one thing at a time. Allow yourself to mess up and just be extra kind and patient with yourself. Remember that you are not alone. You are loved more than you know and you are stronger than you believe.
Sending you prayers & hugs~
