Yes, I have a long history of grocery shopping anxiety. I've had panic attacks in the parking lot. I actually started going shopping as soon as the store opened ( 6 am) to avoid a crowd. That helped some but anger often accompanies my anxiety. I know one poor, sweet, cashier hated to see me coming to aisle 1. All I wanted was to get in and get out asap. No small talk. I almost always went over budget.

Fortunately, I finally got anxiety under control ( a long road) and the cashier and I chat all the time now. :)

I wouldn’t even go to the grocery store for a long time! Now I go all the time and I make sure that I have plenty of time to do it. Being rushed is something I can’t stand!! Wears me out! I started making myself go and now it’s fine. I try to stick to “if it’s not on the list...”

i had a panic attack at the grocery store yesterday. i don't even know why. i calmed down relatively quick for me because my attacks used to last all day. but ive been anxious since last night. good luck.

I made it out of the grocery store in one piece! Oh, thank God! I had my two little ones with me. The six-year-old was in the basket of the cart(I know... Shame on me) and the two-year-old was walking around. Let's just say that the two-year-old was fed up with the six-year-old and decided to push her in the cart behind the counter in the meat department. On full speed! Everyone in the entire area watched as I tried to scramble to the cart to stop it... Finally, an employee from the meat department stopped the cart. My heart was literally beating so fast that I thought it was going to clock out from its shift! I apologized to the employee for the incident and place the two-year-old in the cart too. After the fiasco, a woman walked up to me laughing and said, "Do not be ashamed of it honey because I just saw you relive what I went through when my three daughters were young." As several other customers were looking on with a "Pheeeew!" look on their faces and laughing, I just started laughing along with them. My youngest needs to be in a cart race or something because it only took not even thirty seconds for him to get the momentum up to fly that cart so fast! So I really need to be listening to 'Survivor' by Destiny's Child right now. Someone cue the music for goodness sake! ;(
