I don’t know what it is about grocery stores, specifically Walmart, but I get about half way through my shopping and start to get intense anxiety. It’s so weird how it just kicks in all of a sudden. I can’t be in there for very long.
Just curious to see if anyone else deals with this.
I get that often now too. My mind gets foggy and I feel dizzy. Then my heart starts beating faster. Then I start to feel like I have to leave. It is worse when I have to wait in line. Sorry you also suffer from this.
Yes my legs feel the same way! It's very inconvenient now because of all the store hopping I do for Christmas gifts. I just order online if I know the stores will be packed.
Me with Walmart! I think it has something to do with the lighting; it's so strange like it's dim and bright at the same time. I try to avoid it but I know I shouldn't. Honestly I my groceries are delivered through Shipt. Again I know I shouldn't do it because it doesn't help the situation but that's where I'm at.
The lighting messes with me too and I have to avoid it now. My anxiety and panic has gotten worse since I've became pregnant.
Morgues.... I’m sorry that grocery stores start anxiety for you. I have a small suggestion.... just an idea.... maybe try to shop in a much smaller store. A mom and pop kinda place. I do that because of the lines; I can’t deal with standing there ( feeling stupid) just waiting for it to be my turn. I just want out. And of course because i try and zip thru fast, i forget things. so i have to go back. a vicious cycle for me. going to a smaller store has helped me a lot. You are certainly not alone when it comes to shopping!
Here’s a ?? Do you ever get a horrible, frightening wave of anxiety come over you for no reason at all?? I do, and it can be crippling. Arms go numb, feel nauseous, so jumpy... like I’m going out of my skin. That makes me feel truly crazy. Why for no particular reason??
I haven’t heard if you’re feeling better after your doc appointment. I know you were very anxious about it. I’m hoping it went well for you! Its none of my business; just been thinking about you and wishing it was ok! Sending u a hug... you seem brave to me!! 🎈🎈

Thank you so much. And my husband actually brought up the same idea to me. Maybe I should try that.
And yes! Absolutely. And I get a lump in my throat.
My doctors appointment went really well! I got prescribed some Prozac that I started taking today and she also gave me altarax for when I’m having a really bad panic attack.
Thank you for checking in. Means a lot to me 🖤

thats what we’re all here for.... love and support!!
I think everyone feels funny in Walmart! I have seen quite a few tales online about strange things happening there from a customer possessed by an evil spirit, to a lion wandering in and out again. Well I guess even lions have to do their Christmas shopping x
ive got grocery store anxiety my anxiety is triggered having to walk by all the great foods I cant afford.on a serious note this time of year is hellish just want to get out quickly as possible.my shopping is done in a small mall/shopping centre and it gets crammed really easy.
I too get this way and Walmart is the a solute worst. I have to avoid going in there all together now. It's like a sensory overload with the bright lights and all the products to look at. Just know you are not alone. I hope you fell better. Just tell yourself that you have shopped so many times before and you can do it again!
Yes, I do also, especially larger stores. It may sound silly but I chew gum. Not sure if it makes me focus on being in my body or what, but it eases it immensely. I use to have full blown panic attacks, carry airplane size bottles of vodka and run into the nearest restroom and drink it straight at my very worst point before I got better..i know your post is a yr old..i hope someone can find this helpful. Take care everyone, you're not alone in this feeling.
