Thoughts about self harm

Due to my social anxiety and fear of failure, whenever I make a mistake no matter how small, I feel like harming myself. I think about how it would feel to hurt myself and watch myself bleed. I want to stop these thoughts, but I don't know how.

I know exactly how you feel have you tried the rubber band method? And people make mistakes we always will you just got to try again and let the little ones go.

There are a number of websites, apps, and on-line help sites that deal with self harm. I also think therapy with the right therapist who does understand self harm can be very helpful. I know of some people here who have posted some of their coping mechanisms for what they do when they feel like self harming....some use an app on their phone which sort of walks them through the impulse, some use ice cubes with red food coloring, and apply them to their skin till the feeling passes. Others have gotten really into art work of various mediums....painting, drawing, photography, writing...etc. This also helps because it's the self expression which is such a positive release....glad your sharing here.

Fear is such a liar and robs us of so much. You are worthy, beautifully and wonderfully made for a purpose of good! Fear and anxiety is all the doubts and rumination telling us we're not. Self harm often comes into play to not feel the internal pain that can feel so much more devastating. Can anyone see or hear my pain? We are here and hear the pain!

The rubber band can be effective, drawing the feelings on your arm or a notepad instead of the cutting can be very helpful. The pain you feel isn't you! Can you capture the negative thoughts and write them instead of try to feel them? Can you then argue them? Leave space between the barrage of thoughts you write and then go back and argue them down. When you feel alone imagine a big creators arms wrapped around you calling your name and saying I love you! I love you! I love you! It really is wonderful in the loneliest places to feel that presence.

U have to get help from someone I think the same thing and I'm getting help to stop these thoughts

No matter how strong your need to hurt yourself is just mooooooooooove far away from it. Never touch any tool. Lock yourself in the cage if you need to and breathe. Breathe! Get inside your body. Get to your heart. And love yourself as you are a true treasure that needs and wants to be loved!

I also do recommend you to harm the paper instead of your skin. Whenever you feel the need to hurt yourself- write it down. Write why, when, what happened earlier, what’s gonna happen later. Everything that comes to your mind. Write it down then. After few notes like this you will see from where those terrible thoughts come from and work then through!

Please. Never never never do anything to yourself that will cause you pain, make you feel worthless and small.
