Depressed
I understand. I’m sorry that you’re feel overwhelmed...it’s a horrible feeling. Are you seeing a Psychiatrist/therapist? May I ask what you’re doing to combat your problems? Hang in there...not sure what to tell you without a little more information!
I'm terrified to go to a therapist I guess finally releasing all my demon nothing really let it ride it's course
This is a very good site to be on and it’s nice to get all the feedback and encouragement you can. As GratitudeFirst asked can you give more detail.
You’re going to ride it out without professional help? I’m not exactly sure what you’re saying...
I'm terrified to get professional help I've never gotten professional help. Usually when I'm depressed I usually ride it out and sometimes it goes away.
Well, that’s the harder way. Why are you terrified?
What if it doesn't help and letting my demons out
If the person you see doesn’t help you, go to someone else! Are you saying that you’re afraid to tell someone honestly how you feel? You’re afraid of letting your emotions out?
That's true & yes & yes
It’s usually very helpful to confide your true feelings and fears to someone. I think you’re taking a good 1st step by coming to this forum and seeking advice and making an effort to open up! Emotional pain is a good motivator...when you’re feelings are bubbling to the surface and you’re no longer able to keep them in check, you’ll seek help from a professional. I think you’re there...what do you think? Believe me, there’s probably nothing you could tell a professional that they haven’t heard before in some form or another! They’re not shocked or judgmental. The sky will not fall if you take that step! You will more than likely have a feeling of relief. Tell me what you think...
I know you're right.... Releasing all my demons seems scary I'm not necessarily afraid of being judged. I mean honestly there was one point where I couldn't drive or leave my house :/
I think you can do it and will get help/possible meds and consequently, feel better! You can do this!!
Thank you
I had my first ever therapy session this year because I’ve been too afraid to ask for help earlier. The first session was so awkward, I didn’t know what to say or expect.
It’s actually nice to say things out loud and kind of sort through it. And I can finally get advice on how to deal with things!
If you meet a good therapist they’re gonna figure out how to best help you with your issues. If you feel like talking doesn’t help, they can find other methods which may be better for you 🙂
paige... I can empathize with your fear as well as GratitudeFirst’s responses. At first it’s scary seeking help from a therapist. In our “oh c’mon and get happy” society, therapy is often shunned by many for either being a waste of time or not working at all or even making things worse.
It’s all quite the contrary, therapists are trained professionals that are there to help those that mentally struggle in life. That’s their job.
I myself have been in therapy for decades. Even after all these years, therapy still helps me with my everyday BS that I have to take on.
If you do choose to see a therapist, you may have to see one or more until you find one that you’re comfortable with. Or perhaps look for recommendations. I find Yelp is helpful when it comes to resources.
Try your best not to ride the demons out alone. Support is out there for you.
Best,
MZ
