Super disgusted

I quit smoking 4 months ago .... great. I’ve gained 25 lbs.... awful☹️☹️☹️☹️.

I’ve always been slim and reasonably attractive. Now I feel like a massive cow. And I keep eating. Going back to cigarettes is not an option. I hate Brussels sprouts spinoch hummus squash zucchini onions .

I have to stop myself, but I’m constantly shoveling food in my mouth. I hate myself for being fat. I’ve never been fat. Thanks for listening

I started eating salads, you don't have to always have stuff you don't like....I put all kinds of stuff in them to liven it up....and...it's working...lost a bit....but I have to get out more, that will help burn off the weight.

You never really quit smoking sounds like now you eat to keep yourself from smoking you’ve traded one bad habit for another. And if your eating more than you used to you will need to exercise more than you used to. And people with addiction to anything will always need something else to take its place but there are plenty of healthy options.

H well done for packing in the ciggies. I did this after 44 years last August. Since then I have been desperate for my oral fix so have been shoving anything sweet into my mouth and have put on 2 stone. I feel like a beached whale!

I have just joined Weight Watchers. There is a good weight loss site on here too. Good luck and remember it's much healthier to be a bit overweight than smoke! x

Hi Meow..thanks for sharing, very similar to my own situation. I quit, which I'm very glad for, it really is the lesser of two evils. Glad for your victory as well. Like yourself, it came at a cost, weight gain! It sucks right? Happened rather quickly. I'm still trying to keep physically keep active with 45mins of cardio daily, have to do more resistance, combine the two together more. I try to walk an hour a day with my dog, that is always weather permitting, don't care for the heat, and try to avoid the sun. When I'm out in it, always make sure I take protection. Look at the bigger picture here, you quit smoking which was damaging to health, so is weight gain, but I think there are more downsides to smoking. Also hurts the pocketbook. They have become very expensive here, it's ludicrous, just to wreck your health. Don't hate yourself, try to improve the situation at hand. Be proud you quit smoking, its a hard thing to overcome for many. Going back is not an option for myself either, and that's a good thing. Going on 2.5 years for me since I quit. Good luck to anyone else trying to kick the nasty habit. God bless.

One thing at a time. First the smoking... you have to get to the point where you don't crave them anymore and that takes awhile. I used to dream I was smoking. I believe it is one of the more difficult addictions to overcome. So good for you, be proud of yourself. Try not to gain anymore , but don't beat yourself up if you do. You can take on the weight issue later . You have a plan and it's working ! I quit 40 yrs. ago and I am so happy I did. I couldn't afford it now . Pam

Weight gain after quitting smoking is common. Your brain wants the fix you used to get from the nicotine. It really isn’t anything you can control. You are fighting brain chemistry. You are only for months out. Give it more time and you will see that your appetite will return to normal after your brain levels off. In the mean time. You don’t have to stop eating. Just substitute good food for the bad food. Instead of soda try seltzer water. Canned fruit in 100% juice is a nice snack. Chobani greek yogurt is a good replacement for ice cream.

I did notice the eating increase came along with the nicotine decrease. I have four more 7 mg (lowest dose) nicotine patches and I'm done!

I hope you are right and in a few months my body will level out.

Thank you for answering
