Depression around holidays

I’m surprised I am feeling this way but today is my 17 birthday and I woke up feeling so depressed. My parents got divorced 4 years ago so I don’t know if it’s me missing my family being together or what. And I don’t want this day go be ruined by my random sadness but I’m really confused

It could be that your missing your parents being together. I know when I turned 18 my parents got divorced, I was very upset. And it could be your turning a year older. But I would celebrate that and enjoy myself with family and friends. Your life is just really starting to take off. And there's lots of opportunities ahead. HAPPY Birthday!!!

Happy Birthday. Go shopping and buy yourself a great present. I believe one should always buy themselves at least one great birthday present.

Sorry about your folks. try to focus on yourself today. .if possible. It is your day for self-indulgence.

lots of hugs

Happy Birthday blue. 🎂 Firstly, I am quite an old lady compared to you but, I always celebrate my Birthdays. Many of my family and friends didn't get very many of them. N so I, n you should celebrate ours. Please, enjoy yours, look forward and never back, if you can. I wish you a day filled with peace and joy n many more of them.👍😊✌️

I think it is perfectly logical to feel depressed in your situation when you think about it. Birthdays aren’t only about the person who was born that day. It is also a happy reminder for the parents who brought the child into the world. Divorce is hard and you have a right to your feelings. Even if others disagree.
