I'm not "fine"

Hi all. My name is Dylan, and i am living with Depression, anxiety and suicidal idealisation. I served 5 years in the air force where I had diffiulty adjusting between home work and deployments, ultimately resulting in an early discharge. Since then I have landed a job as a CSR for an international company. I live in a rural area, so getting help isn't an easy feat.

My only question is, what is everyone with a situation like mine doing to help themselves?

Hello Dylan.. I wish there were a simple answer that would help.. many of us just kind of "survive ". I tried therapy and it just wasnt for me. Many day I break down. I panic. Get angry. Freak out.. feel like all hope is lost. Life sucks.... the one thing that keeps me hanging on are my children. When I see them I know that I'm needed... if you dont have kids then what u need to do is find that one thing that reminds you of your existence... See it as this... you were given these "battles" because you're strong enough to conquer them. You have capabilities that many others dont. You may see your situation as weak... but you've come this far.. that my friend takes incredible strength believe me I know. Be proud of who you are. Those who have never felt true anxiety/depression wouldn't have the first clue how to handle it.. we have something they dont... great strength...including mental although we dont realize it.. we have the ability to push through the hard times.. and on here we have friends who get it.. we understand and will do all we can to help... the situation seems unbeatable but you can do this...you already have:)

Thank you for that advice for Dylan.........I am taking it as well. In fact, I'm going to print it out and put it on my refrigerator so that I can read it when I'm feeling weak. thank you :)

I too live in the middle of the countryside...and it is difficult to find therapists. The doctors are country doctors, but ours thankfully are fairly well informed when it comes to understanding medication for anxiety and depression because we are so remote, they up their game quite a bit. I would suggest if you are on meds. to see which doctor within your scope of driving is close enough to meet your needs. As far as an actual therapist, we here have to drive for quite a while, so I understand what your dealing with. Others here on the site have done some on line therapy, as well as, like with this site, gotten some very helpful feedback and support. This is a safe place, and the people are kind. Writing here and sharing is I feel very therapeutic in that writing is cathartic and helps take some of the power out of our issues. Your with others who understand, and at most can also just be supportive. Glad your here and sharing.
