Feeling hurt

So I called my psychiatrist office yesterday telling them my anxiety and depression is really bad. The receptionist told me to continue taking my antidepressants and anxiety pills and then she hung up on me. I was gonna ask if I could start seeing a counselor. I feel hurt and let down. Idk what to do now. They are supposed to help me but turned their backs on me when I needed it the most.

I would call back or even stop at the office. A receptionist is not a doctor- he or she had no right to tell you to take meds. I would even report the office to the Med board.

I agree with gogogirl... The psychiatrist probably doesn't even know the receptionist did that and am sure would be very upset with the receptionist's actions. I would at the very least make the psychiatrist aware. I would at least call again and see if the psychiatrist could call you back. Whatever you decide just don't give up there are places out there that are willing to help and people that care.

If that psych does not call back I would report to the board, and report to your primary care Dr. as well. I hope the receptionist is fired and brought up on charges.

That’s absolutely awful. I’m sorry that happened to you. I would as well report them if the doctor does not call you back.

I also would call back. If you do not get the attention you need and deserve I would find a new doctor.
