Hi all. 43 year old female here. Have anxiety daily with high pulse rate and constant worry. Sometimes I feel like I am going crazy. I lost my insurance so haven't had any medication for nearly a year. Trying to convince yourself it's "all in your head" is hard. Can anyone relate?

You're definitely not imagining the anxiety disorder. It is real, and it needs medical treatment, just like any other medical problem. You need to see a doctor ASAP and tell him/her what's happening, so you can get things moving in the right direction.
Please don't think that it's all going to go away tomorrow, and do nothing. It eventually will go away with the right support and treatment, but you must act. There is a lot of support out there to help you get through this, and this forum is a good start.
There must be options for medical treatment for people without insurance. I'm not familiar with them myself, but a few internet searches should turn up what you need.
Please get started on this. I'm well aware of how horrible anxiety is - I've suffered from it (off and on) for about 45 years. It can be controlled, and you can live a normal life again.
Wishing you the best,

Hi, I am so sorry you are fighting this battle. I am 17 and have been battling with panic attacks. After an attack I feel silly and I know I am fine, but when I feel anxious it is so hard for me to believe that I am okay. If you cannot see a doctor, in the meantime I would try to work really hard towards practicing breathing techniques and distracting yourself in positive ways. Also when you're feeling anxious, grounding can help (look at 5 things around you, touch 4 things around you, listen to 3 things, smell 2, and taste 1) to make you feel more in control. Sometimes researching anxiety and getting a better understanding of what is happening helps me be more aware. You're really strong and this is something you can conquer. Good luck(:
On darling your story sounds very bad. U need medication. 1 in 3 people on antidreppesents. Life is a bitch, and hard, don't be ashamed of taking a pill a day, n controlling these daft feelings. It normel. Remember you are everything to someone
... Believe me one day you will think I'm ok, it will happen, will
only remember the bad times
The good times bigger, how you feeling xx
Love this response!
So I have experienced the obsessive worry thing myself but what is strange is that my mind was on autopilot and even if I didn't want to think about something it was still popping in my head. I had to start taking medication and it knocked all of those negative thoughts out so that if I thought about something then I could easily brush it away.
The big thing is that worry is so bad for your health so if you can catch yourself and stop then you are on the road to overcoming but if your brain won't let you then medication is the way to go.
Good luck!
ps. I use online Rx discount coupons to pay for my medication because I don't have prescription coverage either. You save a ton of money!
Hi Kris4, I can definitely relate. I have health anxiety (for me, fear of quickly fatal maladies like cardiac arrest, pulmonary embolism, sepsis). And my heart rate is always up, even when I'm not anxious (the docs have told me I have sinus tachycardia, but can't explain why), which only feeds my worry. It's a real chicken-or-the-egg kind of dilemma -- is it unconscious anxiety triggering symptoms, or are they real symptoms triggering anxiety?
What kinds of things are worrying you? Do you know what triggers your anxiety? Feel free to message me if you need to talk.
Yes, I can relate. Anxiety for me is so frustrating because my life is good so I feel that I shouldn't have this anxiety. I get unwanted negative thoughts that feed the anxiety. I try deep breathing, that helps sometimes. When negative thoughts come up, I recognize them and tell myself they are unwanted and unneeded. I don't know. I haven't come up with a great solution. I'm on meds and I still have anxiety. I wish I could give more positive feedback.
