All day I've had that feeling of grief. That hole in your chest when you loose a love one or something important. It's like someone is choking me underwater. I had a nice paying job and because of an illness and anxiety Im back at the bottom. Now I'm home alone and depressed. I've been listening to some old tunes. I'm an open book. Rock and Metal are my base but I've learned to appreciate every genre out there. What are some of your favorite songs? Here are my current top 5 for today that have been stuck in my head.
1) Switchfoot - Dark Horses
2) NF - Face It
3) Tool - Forty Six And Two
4) Bastille - Overjoyed
5) Highly Suspect - Send Me An Angel

Great topic! Music can reach us when other things can't.
This past year's number one go - to song for comfort for me is "Lazarus" from David Bowie's final album. The climax has a line "Like the bluebird, I'm free! " that for me describes those (relatively brief), amazing periods when I am truly liberated from depression. I feel like this album is his gift to us from beyond the grave, as he knew he was dying when he recorded it.
I love Tool, also. "Wings for Marie" (both parts) was my go - to song when I was preparing to euthanize my best dog friend years ago, and still reminds me of her.
I'll have to listen to some of the songs you mentioned that I'm not familiar with!
I'm sorry you're feeling so crummy. I understand deeply. I hope it passes quickly for you. Take care.
Hello fellow metal head! I don't run into enough metal heads anymore. I generally like melodic death metal here, but don't get me wrong, I love some good rock (love some Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, Tom Petty, etc). I've actually spent this summer exploring several new metal bands and that has made me super happy (thank you, YouTube!).
New bands I've found that I now absolutely LOVE: Be'lakor, Insomnium, Septic Flesh, Shylmagoghnar. I honestly cannot stop listening to Be'lakor. If you enjoy metal with deep growls, you may like them.
Of course! If you wind up wanting any particular song/album recommendations for any of em, let me know. Until then, rock on!! Without music, I don't think I'd survive most days.
I’ll also throw in a Christmas song. Not because I’m a nerd that has their lights up already but it’s nice to sing to a song that’s about something cheery!
