Finally it's the weekend and I was starting to cheer up seeing my son after having an emotional day but of course it's not over since I can't sleep. Doesn't matter what I do my mind just won't shut down long enough to give me at least a few hours. Is it too much to ask for just an hour or two. Doesn't help this makes me want to cry and fighting the tears make it worseπŸ˜”

I hope that you are already asleep now, but insomnia just bites. Have you tried doing muscle relaxation - there are apps for it. lay down and focus on your breathing - as you do this tighten up your feet and after 3-4 seconds, release. keep breathing....and move up in sets of muscle groups ending with your neck and even face (squishing your eyebrows, nose and mouth). I start with deep breathing and just focus on that for a while and eventually I wind up asleep. If you get thoughts - just think of them as a cloud and let them pass. And then return to your breathing.

My bodies tired but my brains going on and on with too many thought but I'll try that see if I crash I just need few hours

That bites. It may help to have some "white noise" unless you get bothered by OCD - I got the free version of sleep pillow app. it is free (with paid add-ons) but you can pick something like nature or a metronome and let it go for 15-20 minutes - just beware that a few of the nature sounds are on a loop and it can be jarring at times. A friend recommends ASMR on Youtube. Its whispering which is kinda calming.

i have a hearing impairment so all i want is to take my hearing aid out and go to sleep - without my 2 miliion thoughts and worries. I took 3 types of pills (two prescribed and one otc sleep med) and it's 1am and I'm still wide awake - sweet dreams. I hope!

I always have music playing but tonight it just not working normally I'll take my pill but it makes me so drowsy the effect stick with me when I wake and I try not be like that with my son on my days off so I have set days when I take them. Im going to try the breathing techniques thanks

Oh... racing thoughts are a horrible feeling. I agree coloring and walks are good. I would watch old episodes of Frasier. Weird but it is like comfort food for my brain. Those shows take me back to a simpler time and are funny. Some episodes do trigger me though. But as soon as they were off thoughts went racing again.

I also would make a list of things I am grateful for. Including Frasier... ha.. and I would just focus really hard on these things. Talking to someone who understands was one of my biggest reliefs or taking Xanax.

I hope you find something. That brain is like a hurricane and you have to just keep standing your ground. It is super hard. Pray and stay strong but gentle towards yourself. Give yourself time. You are litterly rewirring your brain and it didn't get this way over night. I have faith too. I now believe this is something I have alway had and God wants me to be free from it. So with time, pain, patients, and suffering, good people, and community, He is teaching me to be stronger and as I hope eventually free.

Hey captain

Awww I use to like frasier. The lack of sleep and anxiety making me feel so old it sucks. But Thankfully I got sleep i sometimes read a book when I'm up all night. One time I finish a four books in two day I crashed by the third day.

That kinda sounds like you may have bipolar disorder- have you seen someone who could help diagnose you?

I probably do but honestly to the point where no much I can do if I keep labeling myself with conditions. I know I just have to keep trying better myself

I struggle with sleeping and when I can't my mood gets worse. No magic solutions I'm afraid I've tried most things including meds. I found the meds did help but then when I stopped taking them I was as bad a s before so not really sure. Knowing we are not alone is some sort of help I guess as it can seem like everyone else goes to sleep really easy and I can't. Hope you manage to get enough sleep to stay relatively sane!

I'm doing my best but not easy I get very little sleep I crash after two or three days but your right there is no magic solution

When you can't sleep maybe try to think of things that make you happy, I just tried it last night and was able to go back to sleep. Hope this is helpful for you!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lisa

Hi have you tried some natural herbs like Valerian root, Chamomile tea or Tryptophan supplement?

Chamomile tea has been helping lately but there jus some nights that nothing works

Chamomile tea is relaxing, but I have found Tryptophan (capsules) regulate sleep and mood, because Tryptophan is a procursor to serotonin and serotonin convertes into melatonin (sleep hormone) or take melatonin capsules instead. But talk to your Dr first especially is you are taking any medications before you take any of those that I have mentioned.
