I'm brand new here. I was diagnosed with severe depression and anxiety in 2000. I've been on meds ever since. I'm also a recovering addict. 8 years clean. My depression is under control but my anxiety is really bad. My doctor has got me on maximum dosages of my meds but I still itch all the time. Feel anxious all day. This started in January when the clinic I was going to for free meds dropped me from the program because i had been stable for so long. So when I ran out of meds I felt good for a month then my symptoms returned. Went to Dr for my meds. No insurance so I'm paying $200 a month for meds and then Dr office visits once a month cost $100. The Dr wants me to take an antihistimine for the itching. How stupid. In not allergic to anything. Im anxious. He seems to have given up on me. I don't know what to do.

Well first off congratulations on being 8 years clean! That's amazing to hear. When you get you're anxiety do you notice any triggers? When you start to develop the anxiety or still have it for longer than wanted I'd suggest focus on the five senses. What I mean by this is for each sense like touch, smell, etc. think of five things for each and focus on those. This usually helps settle me down alittle enough to grasp some peace for a moment. When you have that moment of peace, if you do, try some breathing techniques, get this app called headspace. It's an app with guided meditation and it gives you ten free sessions. I hope this helps and as for the itching, I know it might sound like seriously but try not to pay attention to it. Try to push it aside, I know it's harder to do it than to say it but it helped me for sure. Best of luck!
find yourself a better psychiatrist, one that will listen to you and is knowledgeable enough to find the right medications to suit your case.
You are already paying so much for your meds and doctor visits. Why not try seek out psychiatrists/ neurologists who will deliver service that is really worth all you already pay.
