Hi?

I've had social anxiety and depression for as long as I can remember. I've been with a few therapists and counslers over the year and nothing has really helped I just end up skipping my apointments cause im afraid I guess? I've also been in the situation where I pick an outfit out for a social event and end up changing my clothes because im afraid of what they would think of me. I need serious help but my diorders are kinda getting in the way.

  • Hi sorry to hear this and welcome to the site. I think you have got to make a firm commitment that you are going to tackle your anxiety and depression once and for all.

    Counselling isn't an easy option as you will be bringing up very painful memories which you have buried for good reasons. But it is essential to tackle these before you can move on. The end result will be worth it but you have to want to do it and not skip appointments etc.

    Don't forget it took a long time to get to this stage so it will take time to start undoing some of the damage. Are you on any meds? If not maybe these could help as well.

    If you don't want to go the medical route, and that is your choice, the only other one is the self help route. This includes things like mindfulness, meditation, yoga etc. There are also online courses you can do but they won't be free.

    There is lots of info online about self help so have a look.
