I am new to this forum and taking ativan and prozac now for 10 years. Does anyone find other SSRIs work better for anxiety?

I have tried many others. There seems to be pattern with my disorder in which some meds work for awile and then don't. I have tried 7-9 different kinds over the years. I am on cymbalta now and it is working. It might be right for me and not for you though. That is one of the frustrating things about this illness.

Have you ever tried prozac? I am wondering if it is making my anxiety worse. I have been on it for over 10 years:(

I havetaken Prozac. It was the first they perscribed and it didnt work for me. SSRI's usually dont work for me long term. I take SNRI's now. They are more intense but seem to get my brain unfogged better.

Meds effect everyone different. What works for one person may not for another. You should speak to your doc about a new medication if this one is having a bad side effect.

Prozac, Paxil, Celexa, Lexapro and Zoloft are the usual go to meds but i hear the best about Zoloft as far as it working versus side effects, Paxil is close behind from what I read.

An example. I cant take ativan because it actually makes me aggressive. I have to tell doctors i am allergic to it so my records show it and it wont be given to me in the event I am unconscious or whatever.

Talk to your doctor - there are plenty of meds for trial to see if you can get

Improvement and you never know if you just have built up too much a tolerance that you may need to change things up

There are so many drugs to choose from. It's all about what your doc does for you. If you're not feeling like the drugs he/she is giving you are working, speak up. Tell them how you feel. You're #1, Sweetie. Know that.

Hello - I've read that citalopram and paroxetine are good for anxiety.

But, everybody is different in how they respond to an anti depressant.

My mum tried fluoxetine and it mad her much worse ( suicidal thoughts ) which she has never experienced before either on meds or not. Everyone is different.

Have you just tried Prozac (fluoxetine) or have you tried something else in the past?

Also, lots of people on here have talking therapies for anxiety. Maybe trying one of those may help.

Much love ❤️
