Medication

I'm on Trazadone Amitryptiline Clonazepam Zopiclone. Sometimes since starting the first 2 I wake up with terrible panic attacks which I never had before. Does anyone here take such a cocktail of medications for sleep and depression. ???

Yes the Zopiclone was supposed to be short term only but on their own I didn't sleep

You poor thing. I’ve seen several of your threads and postings in others as you are desperately seeking outside guidance regarding your issues.

Can you put in another call to your doctor(s) and get an emergency request to be seen? You are quite over medicated (you take other meds besides the ones listed here) and have I seen others comment to the same thing. In my opinion there could be one or more of your medications causing side effects that are unwanted like this. And while one or maybe two might not possibly cause this perhaps a combination can. Maybe you need altered doses, taper off one or more of your meds or a switch.

I feel for you so much and hope you can find some answers through the guidance of your medical doctors.

Even my psychiatrist said I'm on quite a concoction of medication but she know I'm on them. She is very young and to me quite a lot more to learn I spoke to a doctor about my meds but just said speak to your psychiatrist about it He was the first one to start me off on a low dose Amitryptiline and they all know I'm on Zopiclone which some don't approve of as it was supposed to be short term. My original GP put me on them. I slept for 10 hours last night and no panic attacks but tomorrow could be different. As I away with my son for a few days next week my psychiatrist said see how I go and if I want to taper off well discuss then. I saw the tv last night and one young said he now gets panic attacks since he started a drug but my psychiatrist thinks it's all in my mind. What a mess I'm in Thank you for replying

10 hours of sleep is a gift. I haven’t seen that amount ever in my adult life, it will take horse tranquilizers to give me that. Heck it will take that to give me 5. 😂😂😂😂😂

I know you are fearful of a lot things as it relates to your situation, maybe it’s time to get a doctor to sit down with every medication you take, even over the counter ones or supplements you might take etc .. and find out which ones you truly need to be on and ones that are being given to mask things that are compounding your issues and more importantly your over all health.

Getting your chronic pain under control, perhaps work with diet, exercise if you are able and be given the proper meds. I assume you are on a liquid diet or partly?

Anyways, keep searching for doctors that will help you the best, being over medicated long term is never ideal.

Thank you for your kindness I do worry a lot about withdrawals my kids said stop all the meds and if you don't sleep for days you'll just have to put up with it and GP said the same and said if you were my patient you wouldn't be on half these meds and he said I won't sleep for days. I've never slept for 10 hours!!!!

It seems your biggest fear is no sleep. Is that because the only relief you get from pain is through sleeping? To get 10 hours did you knock yourself over the head? 😂

You mention withdrawals too, so I know you fear this as well. I’ve been through hardcore withdrawals 4 times in my life. All from abruptly stopping meds. All my choices as well.

Unfortunately when we take meds long term withdrawal is necessary for the body to restabilize and our brains are being forced to sleep through these meds. You can certainly remain on meds for as long as your doctors keep prescribing them for you. I guess I have to ask is do you want to minimize long term damage and find better solutions and alternatives so you can have better quality of life. You might go through some discomfort weaning off meds but in the hands of the right doctor he/she can do this in s manner that is slow and or switch you to meds that are possibly longer acting in which you will have minimal issues. This means sleep will probably be a minimal issue, fearing you won’t get sleep rather this is through tapering or even now while you are on meds usually means you won’t. I’ve been on both sides being so anxious about not getting sleep, I won’t sleep. I can talk my self right out of even needing sleep. But I’m working on that and those fears are about gone as I just need to work on the physical reasons like menopause or what ever is happening in the night to keep waking me up upmpteen times a night.

I’m 50 years old and cannot imagine being on such a cocktail of meds and still being able to breathe well.. I get side effects off being on one med. I truly wish you all the best, you have many years ahead of you and may they be in the best health possible.

Yes my fear is not sleeping as I've been down that route before. Last night tho I don't know what happened but I had a bad nights sleep compared to 10 night before. I know what it's like with the menopause...not nice at all. I did wean myself off meds in 2014 when I was 15 stone. Went down to 9 stone and ended up really wrinkly in the face😄

It takes a lot to make me sleep as you can tell. I hopefully will get it sorted but I admit I'm scared.
