Medication to help you sleep

I have been struggling with my sleep and not being able to get a good night's rest. I was prescribed Melatonin and Doxepin to help me sleep. The doxepin I take is 100mgs and it's to strong, I wake up feeling drowsy. I decreased it to 75mgs and it's not enough, waking up in the middle of the night. So my doctor prescribed Remeron 15mgs and she told me to take 1/2 at bedtime with the melatonin. I took it last night and it didn't help much, I woke up a few times throughout the night and I don't feel rested. Is their anyone else here that takes medication to help sleep? Does it help you?

Regular melatonin doesn’t help me but extended release melatonin does. I’ve tried Hydroxyzine and trazadone but both make me too groggy.

I am thinking about asking for extended release melatonin to try, thank you.

I know your pain I have my good days and my bad days a lot of my anxiety attacks I thought were heart attacks in the beginning because of the physical symptoms I was always having (heart pounding, dizzy, impending doom feeling, breathing difficulty) but after years of having them and talking to doctors and therapists I realize now when I have them they are just anxiety attacks but they can be very scary for sure if you don't know what it is in the beginning. I hate taking RX meds too so it's a double edge sword, I feel like I trade one problem for another when I take the pills the doctors give me and all the side effects that come with them. To be honest I have been using medical marijuana for the last few years and I feel it really helps me and doesn't have near as many bad side effects. I know it might sound crazy but look into it and try a sativa strain it really helps with mood, anxiety and depression. Indicate strains are good for pain management and awesome sleep. But use a low does if you never tried it before

Thank you for your reply and I will look into the medical marijuana and sativa strain. Is that a type of marijuana?

It's a type of genetic strain of cannabis there are 3 types sativa, Indica and hybrid which is a crossbreed of both sativa and Indica combined. Sativa is great for stress, depression and anxiety as well as other things and indica is great for pain management and sleep people usually use a Indica strain at night time because it makes you sleepy and a sativa or hybrid strain during the day. It has done wonders for me with my anxiety and depression and is a great alternative to RX medications, it's safe, non-addictive, and has few side effects. Just check your local laws to make sure medical cannabis is legal to use in your state.

Hello, my Psychiatrist put me on quetiapine fumarat 25 mg (generic for)seroquel. and it works well and does not leave me hung over. Maybe it would work for you? Good luck. Sprinkle 1.

Hi Sprinkle 1.

The nurse mentioned Seroquel but she said that people eat in their sleep from it, so I said no thank you. She prescribed remeron and I took it but it didn't do anything. She also told me to take 1/2 of a pill so I might increase it to the whole pill and maybe that will work.
