It's not one size fits all on meds. Our chemistries are all different.

Have they made any suggestions for you?

I know, I'm on Propranolol just now but these don't work. Steraline has been another suggestion but I'm so scared of the side effects, the whole ‘getting worse before it gets better’ terrifies me.

From my experience (and believe me I've been prescribed and discontinued a lot of meds). Most meds have some side effects and some don't even match up with the list you get when you go to pharmacy or google.

What I stopped doing was reading the side effects. Then if something came up I would look it up. If I'm starting a new med I just prepare mentally to feel unwell. I won't start unless I'm home with no plans. That way I don't have to worry about being out in public experiencing something.

I will say Prozac was the worst for me. Aweful side effects. Twitching, restless, dripping sweats, not sleeping and probably many more I just can't think of them.

Again based on my experience I just feel like you have to go into it expecting something and if nothing happens you have hit the jackpot.

I know I'm just so scared, have you found one that works for you now?

I know you are scared. I totally understand. I was that way too.

I have Effexor for depression.

I was on sertraline for 17 years. I never had a problem. It got changed because I became symptomatic and they thought perhaps over time it just wasn't doing its job anymore.

Did you get any side effects with the sertaline? I know everyone is different but it makes me feel better knowing how others are on them, also how quickly did they start working for you?

I remember feeling funny in the head. it wasn't dizzy. I called the psychiatrist and she said it would go away. And it did rather quickly. I do remember seeing her weekly and she had to increase the dose quite frequently. Then I just started to feel better. I was able to get out of the house, didn't feel all anxious inside

Your welcome

Hopefully you will get some more response

Just remember you can always stop the med, with dr permission

If you trial and you have issues discuss it all.

Call on everything. It's their job to help guide you through

Best of luck. I hope you feel better soon

My doctor prescribed me celexa for daily anxiety and hydroxyzine for panic attacks. I've been on the celexa for a month and it has really been helping along with therapy and vocational rehab. I developed panic disorder a few months ago and have gone from having panic attacks daily to 1-3 times a week. These meds have work for me but it really does depend on the individual chemistry and getting the right help. It never hurts to talk to your psychiatrist. Good luck
