Doc thinks it's anxiety currently on 20 mg Prozac being treated for anemia as blood tests showed anaemia Amy one else suffered this or is it normal ? I thought could be hormones !

I'm glad you had the monitor that should make you feel much better. I would definitely trust that as far as a palpitations.

Hi Debbie, Since you are 53 it may not be a bad idea to have a consult with a cardiologist. You can wear a 24 hour monitor, and maybe you wouldn't have the palpitations then. If you're anxious then a rapid heartbeat is part of it. I wouldn't worry about it, too, but if you're older, and have a problem with your blood pressure or you are feeling more and more palpitations I'd check in with a cardiologist at least yearly. They would do a yearly stress test. If you have a family history of cardiac disease, I would definitely see a cardiologist regularly. You'd just feel better being monitored. I've had extra heart beats for years and I've been put on a mild cardiac med and they're much less now. I have a little tiny pulse oximeter and if I feel palpitations I put that thing on my finger and it tells me my pulse and pulse ox and I feel much better. Your cardiologist would give you parameters as to when or if you need to call him. I find great comfort in have that gadget. You can get them at CVS. Good luck.
