I have suffered from phobias and anxiety most of my life. I fell at the beginning of this year and broke my left kneecap and wrist. Very hard recovery. I have developed a severe case of PTSD from the trauma. May I ask has anyone else suffered from PTSD?

I have suffered from PTSD from childhood experiences. I just read somewhere that equine therapy (horse riding therapy) can help with PTSD. (of course, if riding a horse was how you injured yourself, that might make your recovery worse, but I hope not). I found it fascinating how horse riding can help PTSD. If I could afford it I would do it around here. I think they only have it for children's issues around here.
For PTSD, it's so difficult because it's like coming up against a brick wall; you think you've made some recovery, getting over one issue (like a loud noise or some experience you are able to respond to better), and then something will happen and it will feel like you have a setback. I wish that there were PTSD groups around, I think they have them for veterans. But for many people there are bipolar depression support alliance (DBSA) groups for similar health conditions.
So, yes, I have experienced PTSD and still experience it a lot, not as much as a soldier does but enough to affect quality of life, I think it co-mingles with my isolation (is that called agoraphobia? I don't quite have fear of leaving the house, I just isolate, don't like leaving the house). And loud noises make me jump.
I did yoga and I noticed when I did yoga I experienced less PTSD symptoms.
Thank you so much for your response. It is very helpful. I was just walking when I fell down on the sidewalk. I could not walk for over two months. My recovery has been very very difficult.
I have suffered from extreme anxiety all my life. This can lead to PTSD. You are so right that you think you make progress and then last week I had a set back. I am so jumpy over very little things. I hate it. I have had a hard time walking becasuse of PTSD. I was getting better. And I had a setback.
I have chosen not be on medication most of my life. Do you have an experience with medication?
