What a beautiful day today is! I had an early appointment at the doctors' surgery, so I set off in my car only to find that the village was jam packed with traffic due to a road traffic accident 3 miles down the road. After twenty minutes - moving 3 car lengths - I came back home and phoned the surgery, postponing my appointment for 45 minutes. And I started walking to the surgery, which is in the next village. I walked down the very steep hill and then on the flat, over the river and across the (usually!) busy main road. It was wonderful! The air was crisp and the sky was clear, making the countryside's autumn colours magnificent - and I met loads of dog walkers who passed the time of day with me. After having my blood taken I went to the local caf for breakfast - it was a fasting blood test - what a treat to have someone cook for you! I had every intention of walking home, but I chickened out at the thought of the huge hill ahead of me and used my bus pass instead! It reminded me of when I started walking 14 months ago and had to walk the bus route because invariably I couldn't make it back home. So, this is my new challenge. Unless it's raining (I'm scared I slip and fall on wet leaves going down the steep hill) I'm going to walk to the caf for a coffee three times a week AND start walking back! I'll walk from bus stop to bus stop until I conquer that impossible hill!?! I hope you also managed to get out and enjoy this glorious October day, which is so unseasonable, but oh so lovely!

This day was made for walking!
Sounds like a plan! 😉
Well done Kay, look at you go. Sounds like you have a plan there as well. I got out as well, it was lovely out there today 😀.
Well done you! I think I’ve at long last found a new walking partner. I went out with her yesterday for the first time and did almost 18,000 steps 😳 which is great for me. My Fitbit is set to 7,000 steps but I regularly don’t even achieve that, but hopefully now I’ll be meeting up with someone instead of walking alone, I won’t be as bored and give up as quickly 😁
Hi RoddersFan, I'm so pleased you've found a walking pal - and what a first walk! Well done - onward and upward, hey!
Well done Kay. Great opportunity for a walk that you took there. I know I operate on autopilot getting in the car or on the train even when a walk would be reasonable and enjoyable.
And what a difference 14 months makes. Amazing stuff.
