The man upstairs has been trying to increase his fitness so on Christmas eve we agreed to go for a half hour walk each day to encourage each other to get out whatever the weather. So far I've chosen where to go and we've walked from home, round Brooklands and along the river. Today the weather is horrible and I wasn't that keen so I said "You choose" a bit later he said he'd chosen and when I asked where he said "It's a surprise". I wasn't sure how I felt about a surprise, it was lashing down with rain and BBC weather tells me the wind is ,56mph which is a bit scary for me but off we went.
Ended up in Arundel for goodness sake, hills, chalk, trails, mud, rain but the wind wasn't as bad as along the seafront.
And then we stopped to take photos, well, I'm used to a quick click click and get moving again but he was a photographer so spent ages telling me where to put my feet, arm etc. with me yelling hurry up I'm going to be blown off this thing in a minute! And laughing π€£π€£π€£.
It was steep up and then steep down and a murky wet day but I really enjoyed it!
Lunch or indeed a full English breakfast was mentioned, I countered that with coffee and a biscuit at home after because if we'd stopped I'd have never got up the hill to where the car was.
Well that blew the cobwebs away and felt good to be walking hills, maybe I'll run there when it's dry and not windy.
Enjoy your day all, better weather is coming.
A selection of photos, because it's beautiful.

Outdoor walking certainly wins over hoovering! At least it should. Looks great! I didnβt venture out today in the rain at all, I fear, and only managed to do my yoga today!
But does housework count? We had to sort kitchen and guest bedrooms after our Hogmanay and New Yearβs Day parties. So I feel I did manage to get my aerobic workouts in! π€£π€£π€£
Aww thank you, there are so many walks around Arundel, I've been many times before but not in that weather, if you start by the lake, walk to the end, go up and over the Downs, left at the top and downhill past that monument and the folly it takes you out the other end of Arundel, down the hill, left back to the lake and car, I used to do that with a friend, it's quite steep but worth it for the views, the whole walk is about 10k, we used to stop for lunch in town, today we went the other way and cut down the track so not so far π I was nearly blown away it's a bit expos d up there but nicer in the valley.
Oh come to Arundel one day for a walk when weather is nicer I'll meet you there π
Excellent - and brave! I thought a ten minute walk in the horrible rain with a run later in the day would be ideal, but it's now dark and is's STILL raining. If weather is better tomorrow I may run on way back from the hospital because I may get to run somewhere new - and ideally not flooded!
Yes it's horrible out there, not sure about brave, bit bonkers maybe, but I've told him he can only choose where to walk about once a week π€£π€£π€£ it's a good habit to get in though and once I've had my eye op he'll take me out for a daily walk, after the other eye op I was very tired for ages and didn't do much for ages. Good luck at hospital tomorrow
It sounds as if you had a proper fun day out, in defiance of the windy weather.. lovely photos too. What a busy one! You should sleep well tonight I hope after all that!..βΊοΈ
We were out an hour and 15 minutes, and those hills are long and steep, both up and down.Hey you got out, that's all that matters, cold and dry will be great
π We never know what we are in for when we say yes! π€£ Your beautiful photos give the game away very quickly . Glad you are adventurous enough to get out there and take it on!!
