I have recently had abdominal surgery, (literally 3 days ago) so I am very much in recovery at the moment. However, I enjoy walking and would like to make it one of the ways I get fitter and lose some weight. I am also on the weight loss forum where I have been for a while, but just not very active!
I am looking forwards to healing and becoming healthier!

Welcome to the forum Ruby8! Congratulations on deciding that 2018 is going to be the year you become fitter and healthier! You will get lots of support and encouragement from our lovely members - but PLEASE don't do any exercise until your doctor says you can!! Then slowly build up your fitness level - even if you start with 100 steps! Good luck with your recovery from surgery!
Take it steady, I had quite a big cut through my stomach muscles. I was on restricted lifting for 12weeks and then had to work on building up the muscles. I started gentle walking (less than 10 mins) when I was given the ok by my doc. Don’t walk until your tired out always leave something in the tank to start off with. There will be days when you will feel frustrated, that is natural, keep coming back we will support you back on your feet.
Hi Ruby, I sympathise having also had recent surgery. Mine was keyhole and it has taken 14 weeks for me to be able to do any core or high intensity cardio. Walking everyday starting with 5-10 mins gentle pace the week after helped though I did really have to take it easy.
Once the strong meds go you are usually really sore and at risk of further internal I jury so go slow.
Mine was keyhole too. Still early days and bed rest. Tomorrow I am going to start short, gentle strolls up the road. It'll be nice to get some fresh air!
