My favourite Autumn walks

Don't you just love Autumn ? Just the sight of crisp, golden leaves makes me want to get outside and kick my way through them.

Today we went walking at one of my favourite places, Stourhead Estate in Wiltshire. It is a beautiful place at any time of year, with huge displays of spring daffodils and summer rhododendrons, but my best time is definitely in the autumn.

No idea how many calories burned, but nearly 3 hours of steady walking must have done some good . So I think I might have a glass of wine tonight, not least to celebrate my daughter's birthday. She is away with friends , but at 1a.m she will be 30, so as I remember those final hours of labour thirty years ago, I feel I deserve a drink !!! 😉

I remember many years ago a performance of the ballet ‘Swan Lake’ took place on a stage near the bridge, At just a beautiful moment in the music a real swan came floating across the lake, It was magical.

For many years there was a festival known as a fete chapete (haven’t spelt that right) people would dress up and bring a picnic and enjoy music and entertainment finishing with a firework display, I think this may still happen every two years now.... Stourhead is a beautiful place...
