I went for a walk into the forest this morning and the pond. Last week I saw a kingfisher at the other end diving for a fish and a heron hangs around here a lot. They’re amazing to watch in flight herons as they’re like a prehistoric creature the way their wings arch.
Today’s walk was for 52 mins 29 briskly but I cut across the paths and that’s not ideal for brisk walking!
I love the shades of green at the moment as there just so many and I enjoy the benefits of walking as I feel mentally refreshed after my walk today and the Active 10 App encourages me.
Lovely walk Jerry. Yes herons are great in flight going in for the fish , we have one here that sits at same spot in morning looking for breakfast. You wouldn’t have through you would have a lot of green considering all the heat you have had. I use my Garmin watch to Garmin connect for walking . Is 3mph brisk walking speed or is it quicker than that. Some says 4mph. 😊
Thanks Doris and that’s great that you have a local heron. I think that 100 steps per minute is considered a brisk walking speed which is usually between 3 and 3.5mph.
So your Garmin is set up for you by the sounds of it 😊 and 4 mph sounds more like power walking to me!
I was walking today Garmin says 6.1 kph which is 3.79 mph . I have been about 4mph which is 15 /15.40 min mile but lately have found my back and hip hurting going quick so decided to try and slow it done . My cadence on Garmin which I think is steps today was 124 and keeping heart rate zone down. 😊
I’d pace yourself Doris as it’s better to walk a little slower than not at all. It sounds like you were walking briskly, it isn’t something I think about but I will see how fast I walk now.
I hope that your back and hip feel better really soon. 😊
Gosh Jerry, what a lovely walk you had. I remember watching Chris Packham on a TV show called “The Walk That made Me.” He talked about his family and more especially about his dad. The walk was about 10 miles long ending up at a cathedral. Can’t remember which one, sorry. It was a lovely walk, talking about nature, meeting people and what he had for lunch from the Tupperware sandwich box.
