A couple of walks since hurting my back šŸš¶

Yesterday was the first walk since hurting my back .

I have had 2 physio appointments and been doing lots of exercises to loosen it up again.

Yesterday was ok so I went out again today on the same route.

It's not far and it's not fast but it's where I am and that's what I need to accept and deal with.

The picture was taken yesterday just a couple of minutes from my house and just past where I often see my horse friend šŸ™‚

I have accepted that I may be walking for some time yet before I am in a position to restart C25k

Interestingly though, my Vo2max is creeping up and is now slightly higher than before I had my heart attack!

She's fully charged again now šŸ˜‚

Nice walk and love the photos. Misty is not allowed to be broken. There has been far too much breakage lately!

Itā€™s great that your VO2 max is going up again. Celebrate those positives!

Great to see you back out there. Can I ask what V02 max is please?

Vo2max is a measure of your bodies ability to effectively use oxygen.

This may help

Thank you, Iā€™ve seen it on my garmin but havenā€™t taken much notice. Interesting that yours is better since youā€™ve had your stents. ā˜ŗļøšŸ‘šŸ»

Misty is fully charged now and gone out to play šŸ˜Wouldn't mind betting her vo2max is higher than mine šŸ¤£

VO2 is great news. Maybe itā€™s a sign that once youā€™re fitness is back, you might find running (or walking) is easier in terms of aerobic activity, as your body works now better in pumping blood and oxygen around it again? But I have no clue. But there is possibly that to look forward to, as you bide your patience during your walks?

And those pics from your walks look calming, so staying at the walking phase might not be so bad! Do you have more time also for your horsy friend?

Lovely and well done! My experience is that after illness it is actually more difficult to fight those gremlins, and you are giving those gremlins a good chase!

Yes I think your right with the vo2maxBlood flow is obviously better now my plumbing has been sorted out šŸ˜

I'm interested to see when I'm running again .

Not actually seen the horse for a couple of weeks ! šŸ¤”

The hardest part of getting going again is rebuilding my confidence

unexpected health problems can be a scary placeā€¦

My unexpected health issues were not as dramatic as yoursā€¦raised BMI, BP and type 2 diabetesā€¦but both my Dad and his Mum had died from strokes. At that time, I was not a runnerā€¦it wasnā€™t even on my radar. I built up to walking 2 miles on a regular basis. Donā€™t knock the walkingā€¦sometimes itā€™s all we can doā€¦

When you do start running againā€¦think about yourself as a ā€˜newbieā€™. Restart C25k. Reread all the adviceā€¦you know the programme works.

I canā€™t remember if youā€™re a Coach Bennett fanā€¦but amongst his pearls of wisdom is thisā€¦donā€™t waste time thinking about previous runs, donā€™t worry about the runs to come, just enjoy the run youā€™re in. If you made it to the start lineā€¦youā€™re a winner.

I walked for 6 months before I plucked up the courage to start runningā€¦youā€™ll know when youā€™re ready for your new start.

Oh and happy to read that Misty is fully charged again! šŸ˜‰

Yes, your right, the unexpected was scary ! Certainly an eye opener.

But I'm certainly not knocking the walking!

And I can also assure you I'm up to date with the advice šŸ˜

And Misty is back on charge again this morning šŸ˜‚
