Could it be thrush

At present on nightly low dose antibiotic as uti kept coming back - after 6 weeks I’m to start hiprex for 3 months. I have burning irritation in vagina and the area looks very red and inflamed. Chemist reluctant to give me treatment for thrush as they said it should only be used if certain that’s what it is and I am over 70 years of age.

Any suggestions please
