I had a full hysterectomy about 10 years ago (aged 47) went on HRT and have had no problems. What happens re the menopause, have I missed it completely,? only I do feel that I may be having some of the symptoms.( tired, achy, dry skin, itchy scalp, weight gain etc.,) When do I stop taking HRT altogether? will I have a menopause then or is the idea that I will be too old by then? I have asked my GP (a man!) but his reply has always been very dismissive, as in don't worry about it! I'm not overly worried but would like to know what's going on with my own body! Any help or advice would be very much appreciated.

Menopause or no Menopause?

🙂 I’m through menopause myself, but it seems a distant memory now. To the right of this page you should be able to see ‘Related Posts’..otherwise type your symptoms in the ‘Search Healthunlocked box’ to see previous discussions.
When I had my hysterectomy they left my ovaries but removed everything else. I was only in my 20;s, and I didn't go through menopause immediately. When I started with symptoms i was in my late 30's but due to my age I was always ignored by doctors it was 2 years ago when I managed finally to get a doctor to do a simple blood test which came back showing my levels totally depleted, therefore, I'm now on single-dose HRT, so i actually went all through the menopause without any help thinking i was going out of my mind questioning a lot i was doing,, hot sweats which were so bad .. whatever you do, don't let any doctor do this to you
