It's my first go at hosting today and I wanted to share something I've come to understand more and more over the years, and it's taken a long time let me tell you!
LOVE YOURSELF!
Whatever you do, wherever you go, do it with love for yourself. If you're having a bad day, week, month - do something kind for yourself. Treat yourself like you are your own dearest friend.
If you want to support yourself (and others) with your daily eating plan, join in here!
The idea is simple:
1 record your daily food plans. This helps in firming them up and make it more likely they'll be adhered to.
2. share your good ideas and pick up ideas from others
3. support others by making constructive comments about their plans.
Remember that everyone here offers support based on their own personal understanding, beliefs and experience and comments should be offered in the spirit of being helpful not as a form of criticism and will be up to the recipient to act upon, or not.
When posting let us know what sort of plan you are following, e.g. if you are calorie counting, include your calorie range, as per the NHS BMI calculator and the calorie count for their menus, or any alternative method of recording your intake that you're using.
I've been "off plan" for a couple of weeks having come down with Covid (doubly vaccinated by the way!), but thankfully my sense of smell is slowly but surely coming back and so my plan for today is:
Breakfast: Greek yoghurt and banana
Lunch/dinner: Spanish omelette with some salad
Tea/dinner: Goat cheese risotto with walnuts
A couple of coffees and water with lemon and lime.
Exercise will depend on the heat! A bit of gardening will be the least I do, but I hope to have a "good walk" too.

Thanks for hosting!Tomorrow will be day 2 of intermittent fasting. My main aims are to reduce my sugar intake and stop eating off the kids plates! After that I'm going to try and reduce my carbs.
B: homemade low sugar granola and yogurt
L: cod mediterranean tray bake
T: gammon salad and jacket potato
Finding it difficult to find time to workout at the moment so I'm going to try a kids one to do as a family, better than nothing!
Hi Laura, that bit about the kids' plates made me smile! You're not a human dustbin, that's what I tell myself when there's still a spoon full left in the pan.
Enjoy that Mediterranean tray bake. That sounds yummy.
Good evening Grigid and thanks for having us. I'm sure you'll enjoy your 1st hosting experience.
What a shame catching covid even doubly vaccinated. I hope that meant you recovered quicker. I'd heard that it was possible but you're the 1st person I've "met".
Your food looks lovely and healthy. Snap to the water and π.
I'm following LCHEALTHYF No snacking, mindfulness with alcohol. At the moment I'm struggling a bit keeping the healthy fats up, partly because of the heat. After a couple of cooler days we're back to 35Β°C . Anyway tomorrow looks like this.
B: Pre packed toast with butter and a scrape of jam. ππ΅If I'm hungry midmorning I'll enjoy a coffee with cream.
I've heard of quite a few people now who have gone down with Covid after being doubly vaccinated. I'm just grateful I am vaccinated as we are on the whole avoiding any intervention and experiencing a much milder illness.
Thanks Grigid, it's expected to reach 35Β° again today. I've just been round the local market. It's well worth the walk but I was out of the house at 7.15 Both for the heat and the people even though I'm vaccinated I'm keeping my mask on and the people at bay.
HM mayo is ever so easy , once I've got the base I can turn it into any of the mayo based sauces, cocktail, aioli, ranch dressing, tartar.
Hi Grigid thanks for hosting , I agree with your sentiments you have to love yourself first before you can offer any love to others how many times have I heard 'im my own worst enemy' when as you say we should be our best friend. My menu for tomorrow isB. Overnight porage with mixed fruit.
L. Salad sandwich with coleslaw , fruit yoghurt.
D . Mushroom omelette and side salad
Snacks coffee and crumpet and fruit. Do hope you .make a swift recovery from covid.
I hope you enjoy hosting Grigid , I'm sure you'll be great.
I had a lovely, busy day with my son and mum at a major tourist attraction today. I learned a lot too.
Sadly, just 2 or 3 minutes of the day have really dampened it - I was accompanied part of the way home (after being followed) by a man on a bicycle. My partner overreacted and rushed out looking for him before calling the police and ranting about it for over an hour. I've managed to relax a bit now but dinner ended up being not the healthiest and I had my partner telling me to binge.
Back to work (from home) tomorrow. My son is at my mum's house so I'll try to fit in exersize, a walk and healthy cooking.
Greendream what a miserable experience. I do hope it doesnβt have a lasting impact on how you feel about being out and about on your own. I hope you have a good day tomorrow. Enjoy your menu. Have you tried floating the tofu in iced water and eating it chilled with a sauce. Itβs lovely this time of year.
Thank you, to be honest the man didn't make any sense so it was laughable really. Floating tofu in iced water? I've never heard of that! Do you cook it first and then let it cool? Do you marinade it? I'm intrigued!
Itβs a Japanese dish called Hiyashi-dofu (chilled tofu) and. You use silken tofu. It doesnβt need any cooking. You can use any shoyu-based dressing and or top it with cooked drained spinach and sesame seeds. A sesame dressing is also nice, or a citrus one.
Hi Grigid. Well done on your first hosting and on sharing such a tempting menu. I too have been off plan for a few weeks and as I work out a new approach to healthy eating that I can stick to I am just cutting out alcohol, and drastically reducing sweet foods. I seem to have become addicted to pomegranate seeds so they will definitely figure in tomorrowβs menu along with a mixed salad with egg and Cheshire cheese and some rye bread. I think I may also have some cold soup.
I love pomegranate seeds too, especially with a delicious goat cheese salad! Rye bread is another favourite of mine. Good luck with your new approach π
You are making me hungry! Iβm trying again to do a semi/fast today with lots of liquids. My personal barista (daughter-in-law) is here so Iβm going to have endless iced coffee.
Thanks Tank. I wish sweet things were my only downfall: I also like creamy things, oily salty things, wine, cheese. There is not a lot I donβt get cravings for!
Grigid thank you for doing today's post and glad you are feeling better after catching Covid19.
I had my plan all set for yesterday my breakfast went ok then I had call from my son asking if I could look after my grandson for a few hours. My lunch ended up being two cracker bread with small amount light cream cheese sandwiched between them and cup of tea and Tea was egg and tomato sandwich I was too hot and tired to eat anything else so will try again tomorrow. I am on a calorie control plan with between 1765 - 2269 which I am having problem eating enough Kcal's at present.
B Weetabix Mini 80grm 300 Kcal, slice wholemeal toast and marmalade 140Kcal cup of decaf tea. TotalKcal 440
mid morning Glass diluted juice with ice Kcal5
Lunch 1 slice wholemeal bread Kcal 97, boiled egg Kcal 78 , one tomato Kcl 18 ,low fat spread 5grm Kcal 20, Banana, Kcal 89, Cup of decaf tea. Total Kcal 308
mid afternoon, Coffee Kcal 93 or diluted juice with ice Kcal5 Total Kcal108
Tea Chicken burger Kcal 330, Peas 80g rm Kcal 71, Beetroot 50 grm Kcal 14, Activia no added sugar yogourt Kcal 58 Cup Tea Total Kcal 473
200mls semi skimmed milk for cereal, tea and coffee Kcal 95, handful cherries Kcal ,50, Pear 57, Total Kcal 202 Total for day 1546
Best laid plans eh?Iβm following calorie control too and am surprised at the range I have (Iβve set myself 1997 which is the midpoint of my minimum and maximum).
Grigid I hope so too I am looking after my granddaughter today while my son and his wife are at work she is eleven and is a fan of Monster High dolls she is bringing some with her so we can play with no seeing her regularly due to covid I have forgotten most of the dolls names but we should have a nice day. I think the higher end of my calorie level too high but that is what came up due to my BMI, I prefer to have snacks rather that big meals but I am trying to work with three meals.
Grigid I have managed to keep to my meal plan but it has been very very hot and I have drank lots of diluted juice but that's not to bad calorie wise and I had lovely day with my granddaughter who is growing up so fast and is already taller than me as I am only 5 ft. i also had a quick trip out to take my grandson to nursery it gives his mum who is a nurse a rest.
Grigid it was a busy but a very good day with my granddaughter who is growing up so quickly and behave's way beyond her age except for when it comes to her dolls.
I wouldn't worry too much about meeting your calorie range, your body will soon tell you if you are eating too little. A lot of these ranges seem to include calories burnt through exercise which can be difficult to record accurately. My suggestion is eat what you are comfortable with for a few weeks and see how you get on π
However your food sounds amazing, definitely my kind of food π
Tank_EG _ thank you apart from housework and a little tidy outside and a shopping trip I get very little exercise as such as unable to walk some days and very short distance other and get left in pain due to arthritis for which I take a lot of types of painkiller's . If my weight loss starts to stall or drop I will cut my carlories.
Your daily plan looks good do hope you are able to keep to it. This weather certainly takes it out if you and like you I have no inclination to eat let alone cook, so it's mostly sandwiches or salad.
Walkinggranny Thank you I did manage today I just could not be bothered to work out the calories for another Tea it is so hot and it was easier to go with what I had planned.
Morning GrigidWhat a lovely first hosting post with a timely reminder to love ourselves. As a wife and mum (even though they are now young adults) I so often put my needs last so need to remember more often to take some me time even if itβs just going for a swim or doing some meditation (I love the Aura meditation app- other apps are available
π).
Sorry to hear you had Covid, even with so many of us vaccinated, weβre not free of it yet just wonβt hopefully get it as bad. Hope you feel much better soon.
My meal plan is following low calorie as per NHS BMI which is around 1862 cals at the lower end:
Do you have any other drinks included that have calories? Or perhaps some sort of dessert? Iβm not being entirely helpful there am I?! Maybe others can pitch in with actual practical suggestions π
Iβm going to have a look at Aura. I have Calm on my phone which I find helpful.
In my experience young adult children are no less demanding, albeit in different ways, to little ones. Donβt tell them I said that though π
Prawns with salad sounds great. I follow a Mediterranean approach to eating, so I donβt calorie count but the weight has fallen off me since I stopped eating anything that said low fat or diet on the packaging. I find produce with healthy fats fill me up like nuts, mixed seeds, almond butter with apple slices is my fave. Do you go for full fat cheese?
I started using calorie counting but find it quite stressful looking up everything and then finding Iβm still 600 cal short in my day. Mediterranean diet sounds good
I have been there and done that with calorie counting and it just made me a bit obsessed and sucked out all the fun of eating. Now I eat whole foods, cut out processed foods and really savour my meals. I eat wholegrains, veg, legumes, fruit, nuts, poultry, fish and seafood (I live by the sea and everything is sustainable, caught by local fishing crews). Iβm much more aware of eating seasonally now and grow a lot of my own veg. I use extra virgin olive oil and eat dairy in moderation. I do enjoy a little bit of chocolate on Saturday evenings and try to only drink a glass of red wine when Iβm eating with friends - I live alone and my drinking definitely increased when I was shielding alone. I love food again and enjoy cooking from scratch (something I never used to do); even though I have a very demanding career, I find batch cooking really helpsπ
I felt the same with calorie counting and I am retired and have plenty of time I did it for the twelve weeks and now I am continuing without counting and so far I have kept on losing. Once you know what are the healthy foods and you have got portion control worked out π€£π€£ most times it works.π
Walkinggranny I am towards the end of my 4th week of 12 week calorie plan and it takes time out to find enough things for a meal to make up the calorie's but I have written down what I have had and hope after week 12 I can do as you have done and just use portion sizes I have been having.
Do let me know how you get on. Itβs really about experimenting and finding what works for you. I definitely find the combo of healthy fats and protein works for me. It fills me up, gives me energy and stops me reaching for sugary foods
YoYo80 I an struggling some days to fit more snacks to reach calorie target. I love nuts and I like the sound of almond butter with apple slices will have to look in my supermarket for some almond butter. I have Red Leicester when I have jacket potatoes but less than I would normally which helps some days. Thank you for your suggestions I know they were not aimed at me but will help me.
we definitely all need to take some me time, to learn to love ourselves and to invest in ourselves π
Your food looks amazing. Also I wouldn't worry too much about being below the number of calories recommended by the NHS BMI calculator. It includes exercise which isn't as efficient as reduced calorie intake when it comes to weight loss. I was always below my recommended intake but still managed to lose weight (around 9 stone and now maintaining) plus had enough energy to do couch to 5k π
Not snacks but ideas for getting more substance into your meals.
An olive oil dressing on your salad, or homemade mayo; or a blue cheese dressing - I do half and half HM mayo and crème fraiche or yoghurt or sour cream, them crumble cheese and mash it in. You can thin it with a little cream if you like: it works well as a dip, too.
Butter instead of the flora spread. An egg with your salad, or for breakfast. Nuts and seeds with your yoghurt (full fat, 10%) and/or sprinkled on your salad.
Gosh Grigid , sorry to hear you caught covid. Hope youβre on the mend. So nice of you to host us all π
Had a lovely early morning brisk walk and will do some hula hooping tonight when it cools down. Also getting in another zoom practise session with my friend for the wedding set.
Plan for today: roasted red pepper, courgette and goats cheese frittata; black bean, avocado, tomato and mango salad with chilli, onion, coriander, lime zest and juice; and leftover paella. Snacks: Greek yoghurt with strawberries, and mixed seeds.
Thanks - I survived a dumbbells and body weight exercise session last night so hula hooping should fineπ The one thing I canβt survive at the moment is evening walks - I have been bitten to death!!
Glad you enjoyed your walk this morning WasYoYo80 and hopefully it cools down enough for you to fit in those hula hoop exercises later. π Enjoy you lovely sound breakfast π Food choices today sound amazing x
Good morning everyone , very quick on and off today , up to mum as usual in a wee while then she has a 2 -3 hour appt with the ophthalmologist in afternoon, which is about a 30 min drive from us so I will just mulch around waiting for her . Hubby back home from his course this afternoon too π.
Iβve no meal plans in place today but will stay on track . Sorry for no comments today but hope you all have a lovely day βΊοΈ X
Thank you for hosting and really sorry to hear about you having Covid despite vacinations, hope you are getting back to normal!
Iβm trying to eat LCHF with an allowance for 50 grams of carb and 1800 cal.
Day2 of Goddess programme - her tiara is slightly askewed from too much wine yesterday but she has drawn the line under and planned a nice food for today all under 50g. Amazingly the scales still says 1pound loss since Monday, there's hope yet
B: 50g pear, with greek yogurt, almonds and a coffee.
L: egg, cauliflower bake, french beans and seeds
Snack: yogurt
D: salad: french beans, soya patty with dill sauce.
E: Tidying up / yoga / little walk / some gardening.
thank you Grigid, hee hee love it! The wine slid off me like off the ducks back :D!I have found in Netto the soja patty with herbs and tomoatoes that only has 5g of carbs and tastes lovely. Normally I make my own bean/chickpeas burgers but since hubby is away i am not cooking as much and having light meals.
OMG dill, i have grown a ton of it and we absolutely love it:)! nom nom
I'm glad your programme is going at least reasonably well, perfection is too much to expect for most of us mere mortals. Food for today looks good and will definitely keep you on track.
Good morning fellow diarists and Grigid. Thank you for hosting us today and what a fabulous first post π. Loving yourself is such an important thing yet so difficult for a lot of us. I'm happy to report that whilst starting my journey here feeling a total failure and worthless (i've felt like that most of my life πͺ), i have graduated, in small stages to actually loving being me. I have been taught that i do have a value, i am worthwhile and being confident actually makes me a better person π. We should all celebrate being who we are π
So yesterday was a bit all over the place. I got all the 'had to do ' things done in the end but spent a lot of time just keeping an eye on Ecko. She's still quite wobbly on her legs from the ear infection, but yesterday she decided she wanted to mooch round and sniff every blade of grass in the garden (its not a small garden lol). The thing is i have a stepped path and a few retaining walls with steps in and i was worried she'd get herself into trouble or hurt herself. She did actually keep herself away from the danger points but i still watched her like a hawk. As a consequence of that, my step count yesterday was 10,083!!! The even better news is my knee held up through it all, i still only needed the 2 doses of pain killers and my knee is still fine today π. Not that i'm suddenly going to increase my activity to that level now!! I'm still aiming for slow steady progress π
Today i'm getting to go out out twice π±π A friend is going to take me shopping - i need more than my mum can carry along side her own shopping, but not enough for an online shop, so i'm going for an adventure... Shopping without walking aids for the first time in a whole year, woohoo. Sad i know but i'm really looking forward to it ππ Then this evening it's wednesday Claire and the pub night. Today we're going to take her dog Ash and my Mr Pringle for my evening walk and then to the pub for a drink and more chitchat. I'm so looking forward to it all.
Another fanfare for yesterday is that the clearing stage of the dining 'dump' room is almost complete. I can actually see the whole room again π Nearly ready for a clean and putting back together as a proper dining room. Well on course for it being ready to use in August ππ
My LCHF TMAD plan for today is:
L: Scrambled egg and mushrooms on toasted courgette bread
T: salmon on cabbage pasta with a creamy sauce ππ
Exercise: 3x physio rehab, 2x daily walks, seated upper body workout and puppy sitting at lunchtime π
Have a great wednesday folks, half way through the week already!!! Xx
Hi springersrule That was very moving about your journey to loving you, thanks for sharing it. If only we could click our fingers at people we know who havenβt embarked on that journey yet to somehow get them into the βloving meβ zone eh?
Iβm so pleased that youβre op recovery is going so well too, and that Ecko is on the mend (wonβt mention your dump room βcos Iβm jealous!)
Good morning partner, I wondered where you'd got to! I love the way you look after Ecko, it's always sad when they reach their twilight years isn't it. I hope the infection has cleared up and she'll be back to being your PT πͺπΎπΎ
I hope you enjoy that lunch! It's always been a hit when I've done that sauce on pasta. So simple but very effective.
Ah I wanted to share my yesterday salmon fillet. Marinated in grated ginger, garlic, soy sauce and just a dribble of runny honey. I left it in the fridge for a couple of hours before I pan seared it , in a not stick frying pan with a drop of peanut oil. Very yummy thanks again.
Morning partner. Oh she deserves the looking after π Its awful seeing her wobble about and the vet said it could take a month for her balance to come back fully. She has improved massively from barely being able to stand on sunday so if she wants to mooch i don't want to stop her π Mr Pringle is coming with me tonight for a trial walk. Claire will be with me so if i struggle with him she'll take over π
Oh your salmon does look good and i'm glad you like it with the ginger. I'm really looking forward to my salmon with sauce tonight π
Iβm feeling jealous of all this courgette bread - will do some picking and give it a whirl this weekend - will have to think of something nice to stuff in the flowers too
Thanks MonLewis. Definitely dazzling. No more head to toe black clothes too π. Going out food shopping with my friend was great. We had a lovely chat and i got to walk round the supermarket with 2 hands on the trolley like a normal person ππ. Xx
So sorry about Ecko hope she gets well very soon. Itβs awful when our pets are ill as they Cannot tell us. I am sure she is getting plentiful of love from you. Well done getting the dining room sorted. Love the food springersrule. Enjoy your time at he pub. π
Thanks Caroline she's improving slowly and full recovery could take a while π Oh it was awful. I thought she'd had a stroke! The vets were amazing being able to do everything by video link due to me not driving yet. A friend very kindly drove over to collect her prescription on monday morning. When they are Ecko's age you really do think the worst first and i'm not ready for her to go yet π
I'm so chuffed to get this far with the dining room, it really has been a mammoth task. Now to find room for all the camping gear elsewhere lol.
So yesterday was busy and today looks like being busier still. Your "slow steady progress" seems to be moving along rather rapidly. Lunch looks great and I'm sure you'll enjoy your dinner even if cabbage pretending to be pasta is really not my thing.
Hi Slipstick, lol yes it does doesnt it. I've actually done more than an hour on my feet today, in one go, without my leg feeling tired which is good. It's the stamina I'm trying to build now so i can get back to my proper dog walking duties π.
After hating cabbage as a child and younger adult i really love it now. I'm pleased i can have it instead of pasta and it would win a taste challenge for me any day π Do you not like cabbage? Xx
When I think about it I don't much like any brassicas except perhaps broccoli and swede on a good day. It does exclude me from many of the recipes shared round here but it doesn't mean that I'm short of things to eatπ.
Congratulations on your first hosting Grigid , you're doing great so far. I had a fairly lazy day yesterday but stayed on my food plan. Today for the first time I'm meeting a new walking group for a stroll round a local lake/reservoir and a chat. Probably not a great deal of walking but how nice to get out and meet some people in the real world. So today should look like
B Porridge/ banana/grapes
L Tinned tuna salad
D Pork steak / mixed veg / ratatouille
E some gentle strolling in the heat then I'll try the Qigong session I didn't get round to yesterday. I might even get a little more weeding done.
Tomorrow is shopping day and our son still insists on doing it when he does his. I already have quite a few new items on the list so hopefully will be able to try some of the wonderful recipes you all share.
Food Today
Breakfast- toasted tea cake with butter
Lunch - Ham & coleslaw sandwich in brown bread cake
Teatime - Prawns, salad leaves and avocado followed by Strawberries from allotment with cream
Snacks - Banana, Kiwi, several Camomile and honey teas 2 x coffee and plenty of water
We cover a lot of them but leave some so the birds can get them. My hubby has had to cover his blueberries as the birds have usually eaten them before breakfast. We have late raspberries which are coming on nicely and we should be able to start picking next month. We are so lucky that our allotments are literally at the bottom of our garden.
Thank you for a great first DD Post today Grigid and I look forward to future posts from you. Loving yourself is a concept that I have never felt particularly comfortable with, as it is so easily confused with the more aggressive trait of being over confident, cock sure of yourself and bolshy to others, traits that I have grown up to hate, but I know this is absolutely not what you are talking about. HU and the DD particularly has helped me to appreciate the fact you that certainly on the weight front, I am not one of lifeβs perennial under achievers. Seeing success is obviously one thing, but gaining self control is entirely another. I know this self controlled state of mind isnβt in any way permanent, but it is far more resilient that the self deprecating alternative state where I used to exist. I now know I have strength and the ingrained ability to succeed. I have had to learn to moderate expectations and be realistic about time frames. I have also taken time to look at the wider range of benefits that losing even the weight I have lost to date has had on my health and well-being and this has resulted in me loving myself a whole lot more. Finally I have recognised that people love me and albeit from afar (Co members of the DD) I love them and care what they think and care how they are doing and feeling. This forum has delivered so much for me and posts like yours give me the chance to reflect on just how much. Thank you πFollowing LCHF and TMAD with regular exercise
Long walk completed in the sunshine and made your Bly slightly shorter as we didnβt fancy being caught out in the open during a thunderstorm. Yesterdayβs first try of Herbalife was fine but TMAD and occasional OMAD forays have made it easier and Iβm sure. Not sure I could have done it if I had an expectation of three meals a day?
Today will be a mixture of work this morning and grandsonβs visiting this afternoon while my daughter visits the hairdressers. β€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈ
L: LO Fish Curry and cauliflower rice
D: BBQ meat with salad
S: blackberry mousse
E: if time allows a spin class with the fan on full blast π
Thanks Dave1000 Youβre absolutely right about looking back to where your journey started and how far youβve come.
I know βloving yourselfβ has some not very nice interpretations, like the ones youβve described, and ironically, people that behave in that way are most likely to be the ones who have low self esteem. Maybe we should look at it as appreciating ourselves
I think the difference (in my head, at least) is between loving yourself and thinking you are better than other people. The former should be encouraged, the latter discouraged, but I agree there can be a fine line between the two. Anyway, glad you are feeling better about yourself since joining the forum! Enjoy your day - I'm jealous of that mousse! π
Morning all and thanks to Grigid for hosting today's DD - great first time of hosting and it's so important to love ourselves so we can take control of our health π
Hoping to get out for a run again today, looking at the weather it looks like it's going to be another hot one π₯΅
Food today is:
B: Cereal, bowl of fruit & yoghurt plus a slice of scrambled egg on toast
L: Crumpets and peanut butter, an apple & banana
D: Breaded chicken and cheesy pasta plus a yoghurt for dessert
Good luck with the run - I have been postponing all runs for myself until we're out of this heat. I've very prone to heat exhaustion... π Lovely menu for today, too. I am loving that dinner! Yum!
Hello Tank_EG. Yes, it`s really hard to run in this weather. I do have one scheduled for tomorrow and I`m planning to go for it as early as possible. Hope the bed will help me. π
Thanks for hosting Grigid! Lovely first post! Sorry to hear you've come down with Covid, though. I suspect many of us are going to be saying the same over the next couple of months or so...
I am not loving this heat, but mercifully, I found out last week that my US driving license actually does work for the e-scooters, so my having to go in to the lab yesterday was not nearly as draining as it would have been if I'd had to walk. Yes, it's less exercise, but it's also less risk of overeating due to exhaustion! Anyway, my food today is cold (mostly) and reflective of the heat:
Breakfast: Bacon, egg, tea with milk, water
Lunch: Egg mayo sandwich with no-added-sugar wholegrain bread, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, carrots, nectarine, water
Dinner: Full fat Greek yogurt with berries; cold plate of: peppers, snap peas, avocado, pepperoni, cheese, olives; rose wine, lemon sorbet (it was this or dive into the B&J ice cream I'm saving for my buns' 'gotcha day' next week!), water
Snacks: Homemade iced coffee, hopefully nothing else, but if I get hungry I have chilli cashews or popcorn
Exercise: Minimal - I don't deal with heat at all, let alone well....
Good morning and a fabulous first hosting, normally a day off for me, but am working today. Following LCHF and have a limit of 100g carbs a day. First thing: coffee
Breakfast: blueberries, greek yogurt and almonds
Lunch: cheese, egg and ham salad with salad cream
Tea: another salad ( you can't eat too much salad in this heat !) With tandoori chicken
Mmm Jd thats just reminded me I bought some greek yogurt yesterday. I also bought a melon might have some of that with my salmon later. thanks you for the prompt.
Hi zinza i hear you. apologies For not responding as grandchildren duties just finished. Have a great evening and catch up soon x
Welcome to the hosting Grigid. And thank you. I am a bit earlier than yesterday but not a lot. First thing is my coffee.
Breakfast was strawberries with some Greek yogurt. Run out of other berries till my shopping comes Thursday morning.
Dinner, A plain omelette with lots of salad.
Tea. Salad again far to hot for me to do any cooking.
I am now looking for some of my Neighbours to take Roxie out for her toilet breaks as I have been ping by the track and trace team. I have been told it is not law any more to stay at home. So at 6 am when no one is around I will take Roxie out also at 9 pm. I will do the same lucky I have enough meds and a online shop tomorrow.
I am so fed up itβs the first time for about 2 yrs I have had a restaurant meal out and I get ping. βΉοΈππ
What a pain to be pinged! There's so much confusion around with what you have to do and what isn't law, but taking the responsible approach is by far the best.
If you were just pinged by the NHS app it isn't and never has been a legal requirement to isolate. It's a "should" not a "must". But if you were phoned by Track and Trace then you are legally required to isolate. It's no wonder confusion reigns. Either way it's a pain.
I have had no phone calls from any one. I phoned some one after looking on line. I am doing what they told me. π
β’ in reply to
Nice cool menu for the day Caroline. I think salad is the way to go in this awful heat.
Sorry to hear you've been pinged. Seems totally unfair to have been caught by that app on your first meal out in so long. Have the best day you can in the circumstances. Best wishes.
Well done for posting on the Daily Diary, I have always found it helps to keep me accountable π
You have my sympathy regarding the injury, hope youβre soon on the mend
I love a cooked breakfast/brunch, and add lots of extra veg, spinach or courgettes at the moment as I have them n the garden! Somehow filling my plate with colour makes it look more substantial π
Yes I think I need to think of ways of adding more veg to my meals because it does make them more filling! your colourful plate sounds delicious
Good morning Grigid. What a marvellous first hosting and reminding us to love ourselves. If we don't take care of our own needs then we won't be in any fit state to care for others.
B. 1 small slice low carb bread, 1 tablespoon baked beans, 2 rashers lean bacon.
L. Not hungry at the moment so probably just a bit of fruit as required.
D. Cold meats and salad.
I don't really feel like eating much in this heat. I 'm looking forward to some rain and cooler temperatures at the weekend.
Have a great day everyone and stay safe in the heatwave.
Thank you. Neither hubby nor myself want hot food in a heatwave so salads are a good option. I really should look in some of my cookbooks for some other salad ideas. I usually do a cooked breakfast because it's cool enough at that time of day.
I think we're all having to be wise at the moment, not just in terms of not eating when not hungry but also wise in staying safe from the heat. You have a good day too.
Hello Grigid and nice to meet you. Iβm a returnee and like to use the DD so will write out todayβs plan, even though itβs almost over
I usually eat twice a day, am trying to reverse a gain, and also get out of the sweet snacking habit. Today is day three of no sweet things
Brunch was Shakshuka with two eggs and one small slice whole meal toast and butter 600 calories
Dinner tonight is a Really Big Salad with dressing, grated cheese and walnuts. Aiming for about 400 calories
With milk and cream in coffee Iβm about 1200. My target is 1200-1500 but Iβm out for lunch tomorrow so trying to bank a few calories
Exercise was a 4 km walk, 38 brisk minutes according to the Active10 App. Iβll also do 5 HIIT minutes on my exercise bike tonight when itβs cooler.
I love Shakshuka, and I'm impressed that you're staying away from the sweet things. Good luck with the reversing the gain, but tbh you sound like you're smashing it
