2. to share ideas
3. to get and give constructive comments about the balance of our meals.
Everyone's suggestions are based on their own ideas, beliefs and experience, and should be meant helpfully, not as criticism. It is up to us all as individuals as to whether we follow any of those suggestions.

Good evening/morning all. Thank you bikegrrr four steering us all into part 2.
I have been MIA for the past 24 hours or so. If I am honest, I had a few things going on unexpectedly and just couldn't be bothered.
We had an early appointment yesterday morning with the vet for more blood tests to be done, to see if the meds were having any effect. I went to the village in the afternoon to get more fish and chicken, fishmonger wasn't there so it's a trip to Waitrose first thing in the morning as they do have a fresh fish counter. After getting the chicken, I went back to my car to come home.
Some silly moo trying to get into the parking space next to me clipped the rear wheel arch of my car. When I said she'd hit my car she denied it. I said again that she'd hit my car and I called her a silly c*w. At this point she started screaming that I was the silly c*w and that she hadn't hit my car, then started effing and blinding at me. I pointed to the cosmetic damage to my car then walked to the front of hers. I said "look at the front of your own car, what's this". At this point she changed her tune and started apologising. She said she thought she had just gone over 'the bump in the road'. There is no bump in the road, it's as flat as a pancake. What she thinks is a bump in the road is actually the corner of the pavement! She had to back up a little to get off my car and make another attempt to get into the parking space and, on that second attempt, did bounce over the 'bump in the road' aka the pavement, just as well there wasn't a child standing there. Frankly, she seemed unaware of what was around her.
This morning was mostly taken up with reporting the incident to our insurers just to cover ourselves. Hubby went to the local police station to report a damage only incident. Here's a laugh, it's a part time police station anyway but there was a notice on the door 'Closed until X date due to staff shortages'. Strewth, what is this country coming to?
Got MD's blood results this afternoon. The platelet count has risen by 1 on the machine count. Vet said the machine is not always reliable so she had asked for a blood smear test for a manual platelet count to be done. That showed a considerable improvement. We are not out of the woods yet but will persevere with the medication. So long as M.D. has quality of life (he's still very perky), is not in pain or suffering in any way, then we will continue on the present course with further tests as needed. Vet is putting up some more meds and will see him again next Wednesday.
Sorry, I have waffled on rather. I won't post a meal plan because I haven't had a chance to decide what to have yet. I have a few ideas though and will see how I feel tomorrow.
Have a great day everyone.

P.s. I had a chat with a neighbour yesterday who I hadn't seen for a while as most of us have hibernated during the winter. She said that I'd lost weight, then apologised for making a personal remark. I told her there was nothing to apologise for and that I was pleased that my weight loss was noticeable. This is a neighbour I really do like. She doesn't pry, doesn't gossip and we have some interesting conversations. We have also done the occasional clothes swap, are both dog lovers and have similar interests. I feel lucky to have her as a neighbour.
Evening RofD, sounds like yesterday was a bit mixed, with the silly c*w, think I would have called her far worse, lol and then the lovely comment from your neighbour, how lovely that your weight loss is noticeable and that she mentioned it. ๐
Sounds positive for MD really hoping he continues to be perky and the results are positive.
I hope you find some lovely meals for tomorrow and have a good day. ๐
Thank you. I try to be a little restrained in my language and rarely swear. She was a fishwife if ever I met one. Funny really, that particular village is considered to be upmarket!
MD is still perky, thank you. He has resumed his role as self appointed hearing dog for the deaf, letting us know (at high volume) when the phone rings, or the water tank is nearly full or if there is someone about. Just one problem - we're not deaf!
Sorted suitable meals for today and just cooking chicken curry.
How annoying that the woman hit your car! At least you saw it! It's difficult, we have a couple of older people in the village who aren't safe to drive anymore, one lady we saw in town and she had managed to park in 4 parking places at once ๐ The problem is that without a car they would be so isolated as no shops or busses go through the village at all!
I'm so glad the manual platelet count had good results! It shows the medicine is working and you're doing the right thing. I hope MD continues to feel better in himself too ๐
How lovely that your nice neighbour noticed you'd lost weight! You're doing amazing!
Thank you. I was actually sitting in my car at the time and felt a huge bump that made the car rock. I flung my door open and yelled "Stop, you've just hit my car". She was still trying to pull forward and would have done more damage except that I jumped in front of her to stop her. Her front wing was touching my rear wheel arch, her rear offside wheel was on the corner of the pavement. How on earth she thought she could get into the parking space at that angle is beyond me.
We are not out of the woods yet with MD but as there is a slight improvement we are persevering with treatment.
I must admit that I was chuffed when my lovely neighbour noticed my weight loss. A testimony to this forum.
MorningRofD, what a day you had yesterday!! Firstly i'm so pleased to hear that MD's platelet count is up, thank goodness they did the manual count!! Its all about quality of life when they get older isn't it and it sounds like he's got quite a lot of life left in him yet
Sorry to hear about the bump. Why people have to deny it when its so obvious i don't know!!
What a lovely comment from your neighbour and to apologise for being peronal too, that's just lovely. I have some neighbours that i would happily wave them away if they moved but other are absolute diamonds too.
I hope you find some lovely meals to enjoy today. Have a good one xx
Thank you. As long as MD has quality of life we will soldier on.
We have just the one neighbour we would like to wave goodbye to. Lazy Pete who puts on people. He tried putting on me but picked the wrong person and I had a go at him. He hasn't spoken to me since for which I am truly thankful.
Had bacon in French bread for a late breakfast and just making chicken curry for dinner.
Hi RofD. First of all I am pleased that MD is responding to the meds and I think it is good that you are prepared to do whatever it takes to care for MD while he has got a good quality of life. It really annoys mean when someone tries to lie their way out of bother, it is a good job that you actually returned to your car while she was still there. I think she would have seen the full force of my Leo temper had it been me. That was great that your neighbour noticed your weight loss it makes all the sacrifices worth while doesn't it. Whatever you decide on enjoy your meals today.
Good evening Momo. Thank you for your good wishes regarding M.D. As long as he has quality of life and is not in pain we will do whatever necessary. With regards to the meds, it's still early days so we are playing it by ear and veterinary advice for the time being.
Can I borrow some of your Leo temper please? I had my walking stick with me although my trekking poles would have been more useful. Take the little rubber feet off and there's a sharp spike I could have poked her in the eye with. I was actually sitting in my car when she hit me, waiting for her to get into the parking space next to me before I could back out of mine. Ghastly woman!
Yes, I was very pleased my neighbour noticed my weight loss. It does make it worth the hard work and is a credit to this site. Have a pleasant evening.
Hi RofD, how on earth could the silly woman try to deny what she had done when you were sat there. Sounds like she had a lucky escape that you didn't have your waking poles with you. Best wishes for MD I think I may have told you before that our little dog was on medication for at least two or three years before we lost him, our thoughts were the same as yours as long as he had quality of life we would do all we could for him.
The silly woman didn't seem to be aware of what was around her, she bounced over the corner of the pavement twice! I think you and I have the same ethos regarding our pets, as do many people here I think.
I have just posted my plans for tomorrow and there is a message there from M.D. He likes to stick his four penn'orth in!
Evening all and thanks to bikegrrrl for getting us to part two, I forgot that I needed to reply early today, so apologies to all who replied to yesterdays post and thank you so much for the lovely replies.
Today I went to see my eldest daughter after work and she gave me some lovely mothers day presents, my crystal tree also arrived today from my younger daughter and looks beautiful.
Tomorrow I have loads of paperwork to do at work as I am off on Friday, as well as covering for sick staff, but it will be worth it to get away for a few days on Friday.
We are collecting my daughter and grandson tomorrow as they are looking after the house and other 2 dogs whilst we are away. We also have to get some shopping in for them and pack and pack the car, so we can escape early on Friday, after walking the dogs.
Tomorrows plan is a salad for lunch and a takeaway for dinner, which I will try to fit into my LCHF, GL plan.
How lovely to see your daughter and get some mother's Day gifts ๐ I bet you are really looking forward to your few days away too! Good luck getting through a manic day at work today, at least you know tomorrow you can relax and forget about it!
I hope you find a delicious takeaway to fit your plan, what a great treat to kick start your holiday!
Morning Sheepfan, yes it was lovely to see my daughter and my grandchildren put in long appearances as well, unusual now they are teenagers, ๐ but it was lovely chatting with them. I can't wait to get away and not think about work, family issues, cleaning the house, etc, it will be so lovely having nothing to do, hopefully Blue dog will behave. ๐
I'm actually ok with a manic work day as it will make the day go by quickly and means I can go knowing everything essential is done. ๐
I thought the same as you a takeaway with my daughter and grandson is a lovely start to getting into holiday spirit, plus I really couldn't be bothered to think about cooking. ๐คฃ
Morning Loraine, sounds like you finished off the day yesterday in a lovely way. I'm glad you like the crystal tree too
Fingers crossed you get everything done today so you can get off on your break straight after walking the dogs in the morning. There's always so much to do to get ready isn't there!!
I hope you find a good takeaway to fit your plan, you'll deserve it once you've got everything done today.
Evening springersrule, yes it was a lovely way to end yesterday.
Today I got everything sorted at work and packed most of the car, although I think Blue dog has more things than us and should be very comfy in the boot area with his new bed and toys and treats to keep him entertained on the journey. We just have a few last minute bits to pack in the morning, after the walk and a cup of tea.
I had halloumi fries and a burger so not too bad, and my grandson helped me with the haloumi as he loves it. ๐
Hi Lorraine, sounds like your daughters have been spoiling you for mothers day and I am sure you deserved it. I am intreaged about the crystal tree. Do you work with Crystal's?. Have a good day today getting organised for your break and I hope you really enjoy it and come back relaxed and ready to face the world.
Evening Momo, the crystal tree is beautiful, see picture. I love crystals and have always had a few, but in the last few years I have been working with them, although I am still learning about how they work and can enhance life.
I had a very productive day at work and have packed most of the car so we are all set, after our morning walk.
I'm sure the break away is just what I need, thank you for your kind words, I'm sure I will come back relaxed and fighting fit. ๐
Hi Lorraine, The crystal tree is beautiful and if I remember right Rose quartz is the symbol of unconditional love so your daughters gift was perfect for mothers day. Enjoy your break.
Yes you do remember right, rose quartz also helps you to remember to take care of yourself and promotes self worth and self love. It will be wonderful just to be away for a few days with nothing to worry about but the dog. ๐
Hi Loraine. It must have been lovely for you to have some beautiful mother's day gifts and seeing your family. Part 1 closed before I had a chance to reply to your previous post, it's very heart warming to read that you had some better news on your daughter's recent scan. Let us hope it will progress on that positive note. Have a wonderful weekend away, the break will be beneficial after all the worry you've had. My very best wishes to you.
Evening RofD, thank you it was lovely seeing the family and getting some lovely thoughtful gifts, my house is also full of beautiful flowers. ๐ We were very happy to have positive news at the last scan and hopefully it will continue to stay that way. I am really looking forward to getting away and not worrying about anything for a few days and coming back feeling less tired and relaxed. ๐
Hi all - I'm struggling to keep up with you! Lovely to hear from you all. Onwards! Here goes for Thursday:B: fruit and yogurt
L: leftover surprise of chicken satay and cauliflower; a kiwi.
D: I have another late finish at work, so I have bought ready meals - sweet and sour chicken - so the boys can have theirs without me if necessary. (Husband has just come back from a cataract operation, so I am not asking him to do anything too demanding at home.)
Exercise will be the usual cycle and walk at either end of my bus commute.
I will have to do a satay, you have persuaded me ๐Well, I am shattered. Watched The Irishman on Netflix yesterday and it was scary. Hope you are tucked up ready for your late night. All the best for Thursday x
Sweet and sour sounds delicious ๐ Good idea getting some ready meals in when you don't know when you'll be back and it also means if you've had a long tiring day you don't have to set on and cook! I hope your husband recovers quickly from the cataract op!
Morning Bikegrrr, you're doing a great job keeping up with us
The chicken satay must have been a hit yesterday to be having leftover for lunch enjoy the sweet and sour chicken too, ready meals certainly have a place on busy days. I hope huby recovers from his op ok and makes a good patient at home!! lol
Good evening all, thanks for getting us to part 2 of the week bikegrrrl though I must apologise for missing most of part 1!
So Tuesday morning was an early milking so I got up and decided to eat up the little bit of muesli that was left. Then I was still peckish so I had the last jam tart and two blue ribbon biscuits. I know, not exactly a healthy breakfast. Anyway about an hour in to milking I started to feel really really sick. I regretted those chocolate biscuits more than I've ever regretted a chocolate biscuit before ๐ I managed to get done and came home and could only stomach half a cup of tea (that is unheard of). I ate dinner with gran and regretted it after so skipped tea. I did get all my jobs done though so that was the main thing!
Today I've been a bit better though I've eaten a heck of a lot of bread! I had two slices of toast first thing, two more slices after milking, veg soup and bread for dinner and then two slices of cheese on toast then an orange for tea!
I don't really know what's been up with me, I don't think it's grans stomach bug as I've not actually been sick and it was too long between her being ill and me really. I could have picked something up off the sheep, or the muesli did smell funny, or my tooth abscess is back today so it could have been that returning! (I've had the abscess a couple of years, it comes and goes but doesn't bother me that much. The dentist said he would have to take the tooth out so I've not mentioned it since ๐)
Anyway, I best get planning before I end up eating lots of treats to compensate myself for being ill!
Tomorrows plan:
B - porridge with blueberries
D - jacket potatoes, cheese, beetroot and apple chutney followed by plum crumble
T - I have to go to mum and dad's after milking so whatever they feed me! It'll be something low carb and full of veggies
Oh mate, sorry to hear you have been unwell. I think you could get antibiotics for your tooth. I have the dentist next week and don't want any treatment ๐Look, take care of yourself. Loving the blueberries and porridge x
Morning Sheepfan, sorry you had an iffy day yesterday, it does sound like that it the cause of what you ate, its like your body takes over and makes you eat certain things. I hope the tooth abscess can be brought under control. I avoid the dentist too unless its something i really can't cope with.
Fingers crossed you feel better this morning and your lovely menu sees you through the day. Have a lovely visit with your mum and dad.
Hi Sheepfan, sorrybyou haven't been well I hope you are much better today. I hope the lambing is going alright and how are those surprise triplets. Enjoy your meal with mum and dad food is always better when someone else has cooked it for you. I eat alot of porridge with blueberries one of my favourite meals. Enjoy the rest of your day.,
Sorry you haven't been well. Bread is not such a bad thing in those circumstances as it's fairly benign. Hope you start to feel better soon. Enjoy your menu today and all the best for this evening and tomorrow. Take care of yourself.
Evening Sheepfan, sorry to hear you have been feeling under the weather, I hope you are on the mend now and the tooth settles down soon. Have a lovely time with your mum and dad and enjoy your lovely menu. Take care.
Hi everyone, Thank you for hosting bikegrrrl Hope the week is going well. My husband is back from his travels and the liver and bacon was a hit! Especially with the dog ๐๐I have managed 8,000 steps today and knees are a bit better. For Thursday then...
B Pot of coffee
L Lentil & vegetable soup
D Salmon and salad
Dog walking with Roy. Tidying for the family visiting. Happy Thursday!
Happy Thursday Hopalong:)! Glad your husband is back! Mine is still in the UK (I am not lol), he's back on a Saturday morning ferry and have his favourite dish ready too (sausage, he eats it by the ton lol:). Well done for so many steps and it's good your knees are better, hopefully the more weight comes off the better for them!
I'm glad he's back, and even better when he appreciates your cooking on his return! I do like liver but hubby won't eat it. When we get a sheep done for the freezer I give the offal to my mum now and she makes homemade haggis for her and dad with it!
Well done on all the steps! The menu looks delicious too, I love lentil and veg soup and your salmon sounds really tasty! ๐
Evening Hopalong, it must be nice having your husband back and that your liver and bacon went down well with him and the dog. ๐ Great step count and good to hear your knees are feeling better.
Good evening, very late on to post Thursday menu and update on Wednesday. ๐ Wednesday was all good, stuck to meal plan, though did have a hot chocolate for my supper. I haven't had alcohol all week, our running route this evening didn't quite manage 5 miles (4.60 to be precise) but I was very happy with my time. My mile splits included 2 sub 12 minute miles up some big hills๐Tomorrow I'm meeting 2 friends for tea, so will make healthier choices from the menu.
Plan is Lchf with 80-100g carbs
First thing: coffee and collagen
Lunch: ham, egg and cheese salad , hm granola, yoghurt and blueberries
Tea: checking out the menu for something not too naughty
Morning Siggie, well done for sticking to plan yesterday and that sounds a really great run. It might not have been the full 5 miles but the 2 sub 12 minute miles are amazing
Enjoy your meals tomorrow and i'm sure there'll be some lovely healthly choices for your tea out with friends.
Hi Siggie, well done for sticking to your plan yesterday and for the running time. A full day toddler chasing will be enough excercise for one day๐. Enjoy your tea out. I am sure you will find something nice for you to enjoy.
Morning ALL and bikegrrrl and thank you for keeping up with us (you can skip respoding to this as all is hanky dory here:)!)
Nothing exciting for me to report other than have my new IR meds yay and starting to feel better (less shaky/hungry all the time) already.
Yesterday was good stuck to my LOADS OF CABBAGE a day and had a lovely walk. Typed in my cabbage into Fitness Pal and it transpires it really is keto - approx 30g of carbs, which is probably why it works!
Soo today Keto, IR, fasting window 16/8
morning coffee - cream 30g / Apple at 10am
L: Chinese cabbage salad - ranch dressing with soya burger / 1 egg, gherkin, 3 cherry toms, onion slices and 3 radishes, spoonful of sweetcorn
D: same just with different protein: egg, quorn sausage, cheese cubes
S: either peanut butter spoonful or yoghurt with a teaspun of hmjam
That is fantastic news about the meds! It's hard enough to lose weight without taking tablets that make you hungrier! I'm glad you've found that a keto plan really works for you, have a great day ๐
Yes that's very surprising with the amount of cabbage I am having ๐๐! You have been soo good! Amazing 80kg gone, you must be made of some tough stuff ๐ช๐โค๏ธ! Glad about the meds, thank you and have a fab day xx
Hi MonLew, I am pleased that the meds are suiting you. Nice to know everything is hunky dory in your part of the world. Enjoy your meals today and have a good Thursday.
Good morning fellow diarists and Bikegrrl, you've done a great job of getting us through to the second part of the week. Its another week that's speeding passed, not that i'm grumbling, with not a lot to fill my days i'm glad the time isn't dragging
Yesterday was another good day, the dogs all had fun playing in the garden and finding missed bits of carrots in the longer grass. I had a lovely walk of 1.5km in the morning and did the walking workout in the afternoon. After tea me and Pringle joined Claire and Ash for a shorter than normal walk round the village and a great natter in the pub. Claire was having tea as she'd been at a conference all day. I had to keep her company didn't I, so had apple and blackverry crumble with custard. Oh it was so nice, the crumble had oats and coconut in it which is how i used to make it for the kids when they lived at home. Mr P was happy as it was garnished with a big juicy blackberry which he got for being a good boy in the pub
Today is another 8 dog day. Its a sunny start to the day so i'm looking foward to my walk this morning, i also need to make the crustless quiche i'm having for lunch. This afternoon i have a doctors appointment to talk about the pain i'm still getting in my knee (especially at night). Some of the pain and numbness was obviously referred from my hip as it has gone but there's still a problem so it needs investigating further to work out why its there and what is causing it. Not sure if i'll fit a walk in this afternoon or if it'll be the walking workout. I need to make sure i don't tire myself out like i did last week when i had a trip out
My LCHF TMAD plan for today is:
L: crustless quiche
T: fajita chicken stir fry
Exercise: long walk, pottering, physio, dr visit and another walk/workout.
Hey Springer. What walking workout do you do. Is it an online video you can do in your home? Like Leslie Sansome? It's amazing how many doggos you look after Hehe.
Oooh your meals sound delicious too. Fajitas are great I'm having those tonight also.
Hi Sarahlou, its one i found on youtube, they do a few different ones but this is the gentlest/easiest for my hip youtube.com/watch?v=bO6NNfX...
I do like to surround myself with dogs and they all keep each other amused, easy work for me lol
The quiche was/is amazing, enough for 2 more lunches I really enjoy the fajita seasoning, chicken is already sitting in it ready for cooking in an hour xx
Hi Springersule, pleased you enjoyed your chat with Claire at the pub and of course it would have been rude not to join her in eating. The crumble topping is the way I make it although counting calories now so have been avoiding puddings as much as I can, not always though ๐. I hope the doctor can get to the bottom of what is causing your pain. Don't over due the walking today. Crustless quiche and chicken stir fry in one day delicious.
Thanks Momo, i do enjoy our wednesday pub nights Crumble toppings are so much nicer when you put other bits in it aren't they. I don't do puddings very often and those i do tend to be keto puddings. Once in a while its nice to indulge though
Just back from seeing my gp and we both think its coming from my back. He says where my pain is would correspond to L5 in my spine and that's right in the middle of where i have problems with my back. Maybe i should become a medic lol He's given me some medication that will hopefully get the pain under control so that i can get through my hip recovery and then if we need to, it'll be looked into more closely later on.
I've managed to keep my step count reasonable today so fingers crossed, with the nap i had after lunch all will be well tomorrow
The quiche (first time i've made one) is amazing and i'm looking forward to the stir fry xx
Hi Springersrule, I do hope your GP manages to get your your problem sorted there is nothing worse than being in constant pain. I often make the custless quiche we both enjoy it. My lunch with my inlaws was great as usual but I am afraid I was very naughty, I did have good intentions,my main was low in calories I succumbed to a sweet but went for the ice cream because it was lowest in calories. But then my lovely SIL needed help to finish her chocolate fudge cake and it would have been rude to refuse. That was bad enough but my 2 G, &T turned out to be doubles, so I don't think I will be getting my 1 1/2 stone badge on Sunday but I had a great time.
Thanks Momo, had a good appt with the GP and fingers crossed the meds help out.
Glad you had a great time out with the inlaws, its hard to be totally good when you eat out so if the rest of your week has been good you could WI with an STS on sunday which to me is a win Definitely rude not to help your SIL with the chocolate fudge cake lol xx
Ooh crumble and custard, how lovely. Sorry to read further down you have some pain in your knee. Is it the same leg as the hip. Regardless could be some compensation for the hip??? Take care of yourself xx
Hi Hopalong, it was crumble or sticky toffee and i like both but couldn't resist the crumble
Yes its the same leg as my hip, and the knee that was replaced 20 months ago. I've been having problems around my knee for a year and it was thought to be all referred pain from my hip. I'm just back from the GP and its likely that this leftover pain is actually coming from my back. The location of the pain corresponds to L5 in my back and thats in the middle of the area i have problems with. Meds prescribed to hopefully sort out the pain so i can get through recovery ok, we'll look at my back again later if needed xx
Glad you had another good day and a pleasant evening at the pub. The crumble and custard is making me drool. You're wise not to tire yourself out, no point setting the progress back unnecessarily. Enjoy your menu, I could eat all of that. Hope today is going well and have a pleasant evening. X
The crumble and custard were both amazing, the current chef at the pub is really really good.
I've managed to keep my step count where i'd hoped today so fingers crossed, along with the nap i had after lunch i won't have overdone it with 2 busy days in a row again
So yesterday I had a slight change of plans with my meals. I though I left a paneer curry in the freezer at work. Turns out I didn't. So I had the soup for lunch with some toast. And when I got home cooked veggie fajitas. I also did my workout too. Tonight I'm seeing the bf quite early so we'll see about exercise. But I would like to try and get some arms, chest and back in. Even if it's just for 15 to 20 mins.
B: 2 weetabix and milk + protein yogurt
L: soup with focaccia
D: leftover veggie fajitas (peppers, onions, mushrooms, vegan steak pieces with cheese and lettuce and sour cream and chive dip)
Hi bikergrrl, thank you for getting us to part two this week.Haven't much to say today(my husband and sons will be amazed at that statement) We are going out to lunch with favourite SIL and BIL we meet up regularly. My plan for today is:
B. Bacon mushrooms and beans.
L. Will look for an healthy option in pub.
T. Depends on what I have for lunch but probably fruit and yogurt.
Thanks RofD I did try to be good at the pub I chose a main with fewest with calories I succumbed to a desert but went for the ice cream fewer calories again but then disaster struck! My lovely SIL said she needed help to finish her chocolate fudge cake so how could I refuse.I suspect I won't be getting my 1and a half stone badge on Sunday. Forgot to mention the three G&T's as well.
What's a bit of chocolate fudge cake between friends. I wouldn't have been able to resist either. A bit of tweaking and you will have your one and a half stone badge, even if it is a few days late. No point beating yourself up over a bit of a blip, I certainly don't. You can get back on track in the morning. Best wishes.
Thanks for getting us halfway through the week, bikegrrrl.
My mental health day yesterday was just what I needed. I had a lovely day cleaning, and got my bedroom deep cleaned, which was nice. The kids are still enjoying the lovely weather. Margot has been like a toddler who's learned a new trick. She's been enjoying hopping up on the garden bench, now she's figured out how, which is adorable.
My meals today are:
Breakfast: Egg on a buttered muffin, tea with milk, water
Lunch: Fancy salad (roquefort cheese, cashews, pumpkin seeds, balsamic vinegar, olive oil), two clementines, coffee with milk, water
Dinner: Tomato soup with cheese and crispy bread, cheese toastie, two squares dark chocolate, milk (if I remember to stop and get some), water
Ah Rabbit81. Would you like to have a lovely day cleaning my boat, meals provided (fillet steak perhaps?). I hate housework! Margot sounds a real character now that she's finding her feet a bit. Enjoy your menu and have a lovely day.
No worries, I'm not veggie! I just try to cut back a little on my meat intake. Totally didn't even realise I was veggie today... ๐คฃ Always up for fillet steak!
Hi Rabbit, its certainly been good weather for the buns to be out playing. I love that you liken Margo to a toddler who's learned a new trick. Scamper used to come inside and have some playtime and she would run round the furniture like it was her very own assault course. She loved it and we loved watching her too
So glad to hear your MH day did you the world of good. Having a good clean does make us feel better doesn't it.
well my day didnโt go as planned yesterday! Food wise did goodโฆโฆ.but did have a latte out in the road, my daughter broke down so had to rescue her ๐ which also meant my 2nd c25k run is on hold until the weekend! But I still got my 10000 steps in. Chilli for tea also didnโt happen but instead of grabbing a takeaway we popped into tesco and got some ready meals and had a big salad so still felt ok x
Today B- costa breakfast and skinny latte (a sneaky morning with my mum ๐ฅฐ)
L- not sure yet as Iโm not very hungry writing this so Iโll take some healthy snacks to work

Loving reading what everyone gets up to, I feel boring in comparison! Eat sleep work repeat ๐ happy Thursday everyone xxx
Hope your daughter is ok after the car trouble. Have you picked a weigh in day? I see you are reading the replies on the Daily Diary. Have you clicked "reply" under someones post yet and made the odd comment, question? Cheering someone on really helps and is the magic of how this works. Just one or two posts per day. Ideally the post above yours ensures everyone gets a reply. All the best for Thursday, Maud x๐๐๐
Hi purplemisty, lovely to see you. If you have a lot going on then getting back on track slowly is an excellent idea. Just go at a pace that suits you. Enjoy your meals and have a good day.
Evening all, as predicted it's been a heavy day at work, with some unwelcome changes to my programme in the morning, but I coped.I have stuck pretty well to my plan today, bar one "wafer egg" (weird sweetie) and a couple of grapes, from the cake table. Currently on the bus home and am hungry!
Plan is to continue to keep a lid on the processed carbs.
Friday:
B: fruit and yogurt
L: I think no 1 son is going to bring home sushi ๐
D: a friend is hosting a pot luck supper on a Mexican theme, I am making slow-cooker pulled pork and plan to enjoy a little bit of all the other dishes.
Exercise will be cycling to friend's house and back.
Well done planning to keep control of processed carbs and sticking to your plan today, especially after what sounds like a harrowing day. Enjoy your pot luck Mexican supper and have a good day tomorrow.
Evening bikegrrrl sounds like a challenging day although you seem to have coped well and managed to stick to your plan and limit the carbs. I hope Friday goes well and you enjoy the pot luck supper, your pulled pork sounds delicious.
Morning Bikegrrrl, well done for coping with the changes that were sprung on you yesterday, i hate when that happens, it can really throw the whole day out can't it. You did well to stick to plan and only have grapes from the cake table too. I hope you got a delicious tea when you got home.
Enjoy todays meals, suchi and a mexican pot luck both sound fab.
Good plan, you are there. A one pot supper is a lovely thing to do. Enjoy! x
Good evening/morning all and thank you bikrgrrrl for a productive second half of the week.
Made an early trip to Waitrose this morning to get MD's fish and then went on to the vet to pick up the next lot of meds. Got home and went back to bed with a book - well, I did say it was an early trip. All in all, it's been a much more relaxing and less fraught day today.
Tomorrow is one of my food 'doddle' days.
B. Probably small bowl of cereal with ff milk to line stomach for aspirin.
L. To be decided.
D. The infamous fish and chips! Homemade of course.
E. Take M.D. for his first comfort outing. Sorting out clothes and my wardrobe generally. Planting up my herb containers.
Uh, oh! M.D. wants a word!
I say, Woof, wuff to everyone. Thank you for all your good wishes. You're all woofing good pals you are. The old trout nearly forgot my tea tonight until I started giving her the evil eye to remind her - got a big bowl of chicken out of it though. I will get my own back tomorrow because, all being well, I am going to weigh in with her and I'm going to show her up good and proper, just watch me! Loving woofs to you all. ๐ถโค.
Evening RofD, glad to hear you have had a less fraught day today, going back to bed with a book sounds perfect to me, I'm planning on reading whilst we are away. ๐
I hope you have great Friday and enjoy the fish and chips and whatever you decide to have for lunch.
Hello MD, Merlin, Blue and Boris send licks and woofs and are really happy that you are feeling a bit better. The evil eye will always work, makes us feel guilty and try to make up to you with treats. ๐
Morning RofD, glad you had a good day yesterday, i'm all for a fraughtless day and i'm still going to bed for at least an hour after lunch so totally ith you there
I hope you find something tasty for lunch and great to see the homemade fish & chips are still there. I've now got some almond flour and hope i can find a low carb batter recipe so i can have a go at battered fish
Hi MD, good to hear from you, i hope you are feeling more like yourself now. I bet the fish and chicken dinners are really helping, i know my poochies would love that for their dinners. Hope your weight in went well but be careful, if you do better than your mum she might start pinching your meals so she can beat you right back Hugs and kisses to you xx
Hi RofD I love that, a word from the little guy himself.๐. I say little guy but for all I know he could be an Irish Wolfhound๐ Nice to see that you are more relaxed. I also need to sort my wardrobe out but not today, I put things in a charity bag then take them out again deciding I will still wear that but invariably don't. Enjoy your food today especially the fish and chips Mmm.Well done on the Evil Eye MD show her who is boss๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ
Thank you. He's definitely a little guy, Jack Russell Cross but not really any bigger than a JRT.
Sorting my wardrobe out means tidying it, it's a mess. Also not much space on a boat so some of it is stored under the bed and I have to swap stuff around according to the time of year.
You will need to enlarge the picture to see all of it.
MD's window seat so he can watch what's going on. He's very nosy!
Hi RofD He is gorgeous he certainly is a little guy but what I know of Jack Russels he will have a very big personality. I swap things around too winter clothes will soon go in suitcases in the loft to make room for summer things.
He certainly does have a big personality and seems to make friends wherever he goes. Over the years he has built quite a fan club and now has a branch down under in NZ. He loves going to the vet, runs behind the reception desk for cuddles and squeals and barks with excitement. Vet doesn't believe that he was a quiet and shy little thing when we first got him.
The rescue centre wrote him off because he had issues with other dogs, which is why we got him free of charge. We gave lots of TLC, had help from a canine behavioural therapist to help him over his other dog issues and 5 months after we got him he won second place in Best Crossbreed Dog at a charity dog show.
Evening all today went better than expected and I got everything done and we virtually ready for our weekend away, although Blue dog has much more luggage than we do. ๐
I am not sure what we will be eating tomorrow or for the weekend yet as we will be eating out mainly, but will try to keep to plan as much as possible. We will also be walking a lot as Blue, being a young spaniel expects lots of walks whatever the weather and there seem to be loads of trails and places to explore in the New Forest.
I 'm not sure what wifi will be like where we are staying, so may not be on again this week so I would like to thank bikegrrrl for being such a good host and wish you all a great weekend.๐xx
Our pets never travel light. The amount of luggage they generate would put some celebrities to shame. The New Forest sounds a wonderful place for a few days break. Have a safe journey and a lovely time.
Have a great time in the New Forest Loraine. I've never been but heard its a beautiful area with lots of lovely walks. Don't even think about us over the weekend, just pop back when you're home and tell us all about it.
Thanks springerrule, I've never been either but friends have said it's lovely and I love walking so it should be great. I've got a couple of books I want to finish as well, so incorporating my love of reading into the weekend and there's a couple of places to visit, but mainly relaxing. ๐xx
That sounds like the perfect holiday to me. When i go away with the dogs, the morning is about walking them and exploring the area, then the afternoon is mine to have a rest, read etc. xx
I'm currently on lambing duty, hubby is worn out so he's getting a full night's sleep which means I'm stopping up to check the sheep at 1am. If all is quiet I've got the fire banked up and I'll sleep on the sofa till 4 and get up to check them again before going to bed properly for a few more hours. I can check them on the lamb cam at 4 but I do need to wake up properly to pay attention! It's nice and warm with the fire, I may take to sofa sleeping more often lol ๐
So today has gone ok, it's been a right feast or famine week with mother's day meal out and then feeling ill, so it could be interesting to see what the scales say tomorrow! ๐ฌ
Tomorrows plan:
B - porridge with blueberries
D - fish and chips friday! with peas ๐
T - omlette with cheese, tomato and pepper
If the sheep behave then dancing tomorrow night (we can keep an eye on them remotely with the camera!). No big supper, just tea and biscuits which I'll attempt to swerve the biccies!
Anyway, I best do my last check and get to sleep! Have a good Friday all and catch up later hopefully! ๐
It's not exactly warm and sunny but it had stopped raining! So the littles are getting a run outside ๐ I'll fetch them back inside tonight where its warmer. When we get more lambs and tighter for space I have to be a bit meaner with who has to stop out full time!
Hi Sheepfan, oh exciting that its time for those lambs to appear but sorry you've got to go through it too. I have to say some of my best sleeps are on my sofa so i'm with you on ditching the bed lol i hope all your lambs arrive easily and safely. Fingers crossed for the dancing tonight, its great that you can still keep an eye on things with the lamb cam.
Great to see the fish and chips back on the menu, we'll be watching you at supper time to make sure you dont succumb to the biscuits lol
Hi sheepfan hope you managed to get a bit of sleep between lambing duties. Your menu for today would suit me down to the ground. Hope you get to the dance and good luck on swerving the biccies.
Yesterday wasn't strictly to the plan, I got back from my yoga at 8pm and the remainer of salad didn't look v apealing lol so had some of it in a wholemeal wrap yeek, not disastrous just low carb instead of keto
Soo today Keto, IR, fasting window 16/8
morning coffee - cream 30g / Apple at 10am
L: Chinese cabbage salad - ranch dressing with soya burger / 1 egg, gherkin, 3 cherry toms, onion slices and 3 radishes, spoonful of sweetcorn
D: I fancy a soup, it's vile here just storms and rains. I really fancied bean soup so today i will spoil myself
S: half a cottage cheese (you can't buy them in france so a rare treat, I have tried making some with yoghurt and it's good too but a faff)
Morning MonLew, low carb instead of keto is ok and wont do any harm to your progress I like the idea of putting the salad in a wrap, i bet that was really nice.
Great meals again for today, there's nothing like soup on a wild and stormy day. I hope you get back to some better weather soon.
Good morning fellow diarists and Bikegrrrl. Another lovely sunny day today, all we need now is for the wind to die down
I had a good day yesterday. Had a lovely walk to the top of my lane and was surprised to see the cherry blossom almost in full bloom, there were only a few flowers out a few days ago. I do love cherry blossom I made my crustless quiche - onion, red pepper, mushrooms and cheese which is lovely. The afternoon saw me at the doctors, i managed to get an appointment with the gp that's really good for orthopaedic issues so we had a good chat, he did an examination and agrees that what is left of the knee pain is actually coming from my back. The place of the pain corresponds to the L5 vertebrae and that's right in the middle of where i have had problems with my back since my 20's. I've got a few back physio exercises to do and he's put me on gabapentin to hopefully reduce, if not take away, the pain i have. I took one in the evening (as directed) and did actually have a longer sleep before i woke with pain (not as bad as it has been too) I managed some cat naps after that. Today i have to take 1 in the morning and 1 in the evening then tomorrow add one at lunch time. Hopefully i wont need to increase them after that but can if its needed after i report back next week. The aim is to get me through my hip recovery and relieve the pain in my knee. Further investigations will happen later if needs be.
Today is a 6 dog day so a bit quieter and nothing planned except the normal garden time for the dogs, my walks/works outs and physio for my back and hip.
My LCHF TMAD plan for today is:
L: 2nd portion of the crustless quiche
T: freezer surprise - not sure yet what it is but it has noodles in it lol
Exericse: walks/work outs, pottering and physio
Have a great friday everyone, its almost the weekend xx
Thanks RofD, yeah, my knee consultant was convinced it was all referred pain from my hip, my hip consultant wasn't too sure and since having the hip done some but not all of my pain and numbness has gone, just leaving this numbness and burning pain under my knee cap and down my shin. This particular GP really knows his stuff, i've seen him a few times when my back was a huge problem (i had sciatica down both legs at one point!!) My back will always be a problem and surgery isn't always the best option, so, as long as it can be managed i'm happy. Plus i really don't want to have to go through any more surgery at the moment. I've had 5 surgeries over the last 3 years and i need a break from it all lol
Yeah, i think i got it right yesterday and feell fine today, not wiped out like last week Definitely better for my recovery plan. xx
Hi Sarahlou, oh it is really really nice. lol Yes they are batch cooked meals that of course i didn't label as i thought i would know what they were hahaha. I've given up trying to guess too ๐คฃ๐คฃ xx
Hi Springersrule, I hope the meds are kicking in and you are in less pain. Your GP sounds on the ball, and it sounds like you are doing as you are told so hopefully eventually you will be pain free I certainly hope so. The quiche looks good and so does the fajita stir fry. It is lovely to see the cherry blossom in full bloom I hope the wind dies down otherwise it can blow the blossom off too soon. Hope you enjoy your freezer surprise. I looked in ours this morning there is something in there it could be jaeger schnitzel sauce but it could be anything so it can stay there a little bit longer. Enjoy your 6 dog day.
Hi Momo, they do seem to be making a difference already, my knee hasn't given way today so thats a definite improvement I'm not sure if i'll ever be pain free but low level pain would be good lol
The quiche was lovely and i do like a chicken stir fry, both very tasty meals. I can't wait to find out what my freezer surprise is today, i've given up trying to guess what they are lol Your schnitzel sauce, if that's what it is sounds really nice, i hope it doesn't stay in the freezer for long
The wind is always a worry with the blossom trees, the flowers never last long enough xx
Hi bikegrrrl and everyone, well I really let myself down yesterday I thoroughly enjoyed my pub lunch with the inlaws although I have told my SIL she is now an outlaw because she encouraged me to finish off her Chocholate fudge cake. Also it turns out that my 2 G&T's were in fact doubles. I was hoping to get my 1and 1/2 stone badge on Sunday but I am sure I have blown that so will be happy with STS. Anyway I will try to redeem my self today, I have already done 20 mins stretching exercises and I am going swimming in a few minutes. My plan for today is:B. Poached egg on toast.
L. Cup o soup and a ๐
D. Gammon, boiled potatoes with peas and white sauce.
It's so easy to be tempted when out for a pub lunch with family and pub grub doesn't often have healthy options available especially for desserts. Thankfully we don't go out to eat very much so I can't be tempted otherwise I would find it difficult to resist.
If you are weighing in on Sunday then you have a couple of days to do some damage limitation. The scales may yet pleasantly surprise you.
Hello Sweetheart, There is still time for normal service to be resumed. Today's plan is a good one. The kids are with us(see below) and I want to join in, my choice. All the best, Momo xx
Ooo naughty SIL! I hope you manage to pull it round today and salvage what you can before WI, it sounds like you're already on track! Your menu is looking fab, the gammon sounds delicious!
Hi Momo, haha i like the term outlaw for your naughty SIL i'm sure if you're good for the next couple of days your WI will work out just fine, an STS after eating out is always a win
Well done on the exercises and swimming today. Love your meals, i haven't had gammon fr a while but do enjoy it.
Hi springersrule, I will certainly be on my best behaviour for the next 2 days I had been good up to yesterday so fingers crossed. My SIL laughed when I called her that. We have known each other for over 30 years and we are the best of friends, which is good for our husbands who are brothers.
I think you've got it licked Momo but i'll cross my fingers for you anyway ๐ Lol i have 4 uncles, all married and their wives all get on like proper sisters too so i know what you mean ๐
Have a lovely evening, i'm off to find out what my tea is lol xx
Hello all, Thank you for hosting, bikegrrrl Today the family join us, seven for dinner, out fortunately!
L Meatballs and spinach with salad
D Tandoori chicken and vegetable curry, two gins
Going on to my daughter's flat for fun and games, two red wines, there might be an espresso martini. You know what these young people are like! TGIF, all the best for the weekend ahead. ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐
Have a wonderful time with family today! Your menu sounds delicious, enjoy the curry and have fun at daughter's later! Try not to get involved in too many drinking games or anything lol ๐
Hi Hopalong You enjoy yourself girl, I certainly did yesterday. That type of gathering at your daughters is the best there is. Have good day and moreso a great evening.๐
Sounds like you are having a ball today Hopalong, have a great day with the family, you've gotta keep up with the young uns or you'll never hear the last of it.
Last night I went to the bfs to workout. I did 45 mins of chest, back and arms weights =) added the booty and abs for extra measure. And today I feel everything, so rest day for me ๐ I'll be going to my friends this weekend so she'll be redying my hair. Whilst my bro sorts my car service and mot out.
I never eat well when I'm with her. She has the munchies a lot and I'm always tempted. However, I've let her know I'd like to workout this weekend. Go for a nice walk Tomoz and Sunday workout at mine when I get home. I've brought food with me for some meals. And she's gunna get me a salad for the weekend as well. So here's to hoping we do well ๐ค๐ป
Not counting cals or carbs just aiming to reduce unhealthy snacking.
I've not heard of dairylea dunkers for years! Giving me primary school jealousy vibes as mum never got us anything like that for pack ups lol ๐ Enjoy! Focaccia sounds super yummy with soup too ๐
I hope you have a good weekend with your friend and she doesn't lead you too far astray ๐ Also your bro sounds super handy sorting out servicing and MOTing your car!
Oh definitely. I can feel my chest and arms today phew. Back at it Tomoz some cardio me thinks =)She's stocked her fridge with good stuff so no temptations so far. Have a good day x
Hi Sarahlou, sounds like a great weekend ahead, lets hope your friends helps you keep control of the food, good idea to take some with you though Fingers crossed for the car too.
Great meals, what kind of soup have you got today?
She's stocked her fridge with good stuff thank goodness so temptations aren't there =) yeh I thought it would be good to do. Thank you =)It was sainsbury's cauliflower Tikka soup it's very yummy. Bit pricey but delicious. Hope you've had a good day xx
Hello all! Hooray for Fridays! Mine is a little... something... Last night while I was showering I was sure I could feel a lump in my breast (freaked out big time, of course!), but this morning it doesn't seem to be there anymore. I've made an appointment with my GP anyway, though, so I'll be getting it checked out in a little over half an hour. It's not the first thing recently that's randomly gone away, though. I had what seemed to be a wart or the early stages of a mole forming that showed up around Christmas, but several weeks ago its texture changed (almost like it scabbed over or something) and then it disappeared. There's just a little red mark now where it used to be. Between that and not being ill for over two years, I've been starting to think maybe I'm turning into Wolverine with advanced self-healing abilities. ๐คฃ๐คฃ
Anyway, sorry for the oversharing! When you live on your own there's no one around to vent to, so you lucky people get the honour. ๐ ๐ For today's food I have:
Breakfast: Egg on a buttered muffin, tea with milk, water
Lunch: Either my fancy salad or the tomato soup and cheese toastie. I'm not really feeling the salad today and I need to go get more dried cranberries, which will depend on how the GP visit goes (i.e. timing-wise - I desperately need some groceries so plan to go to the shops, it's just a question of will it be before or after lunch). Either way, will also have a clementine or two, and water
Dinner: Not too sure. Might get that frozen fish with cheese and spinach sauce I had the other week since that was really nice. Whatever I have will include some veg, two squares dark chocolate, milk, and water
Snacks: Having my coffee with milk as we speak! Hopefully won't need anything else, though could have some more tea later
Exercise: Walk to the surgery, and a walk to the shops
Wishing you all the best with the GP. It's wise to get these things checked out, I know from personal experience. Most times it will be nothing to worry about but if it is a lump then the sooner you get treatment the better.
Naturally, the GP didn't find anything (which is a relief, though it makes me worry I'm losing my sanity and/or am starting to hallucinate!), but did say to just be sure to check myself periodically in case it comes back. Clearly the only reasonable explanation is I'm turning into one of the X-men! ๐คฃ
Thank goodness it wasn't anything to worry about, it was worth checking it though. You are certainly not losing your sanity or hallucinating. When I went to get my lump checked out I wasn't sure either. My GP wasn't sure either so he referred me. Just over 4 weeks later I was in the operating theatre. I am so glad I didn't ignore it.
Now your panic is over just take it easy for the rest of the day. Enjoy your meals and have a pleasant evening. Xx
Thanks. Hearing of your experience helps, though I'm sorry you had to go through that. I might not have been sure, but my GP, at least, was quite certain there was nothing there, so I'll just keep an eye out.
Hi Rabbit, you have done the right thing in seeing the GP straight away. As RofD says more often than not it is nothing to worry about but it is better to be safe than sorry. We here alot of critism of the NHS but I have no complaints. Just to reassure you my daughter in law found a lump 3 weeks ago she saw the GP the next day. In that time she has had a hospital appointment a biopsy and her results which were good. So I will keep my fingers crossed that you have as good a service from the NHS has she had. Your food for today looks good but it still amazes me how you can eat just squares of chocolate. Bye the way there is always someone who will listen to you on here.
Compared to the healthcare in the States, I will take the NHS any day. No idea why UK people seem to think the healthcare is better over there, because I can promise, it really isn't!
Yes, I had a cyst in my early twenties, right in the middle of my chest over the sternum. It got quite big, actually, but I haven't (knowingly!) had anything like that since.
Oh Rabbit, never say sorry for getting your worries off you chest here. It must have been a shock to find a lump whether it disappeared or not and you've done the right thing going to the GP. I hope the appointment went well and has put your mind at rest.
I expect its hard to focus on meal planning when you're worried, but your thoughts on what you meals will be are fine. I hope you feel up to eating them.
Fingers crossed its a great day xx
Edit: just read that the GP didn't find anything - thank goodness, i'm so pleased about that xx
I mean, I certainly never shy away from oversharing on here. ๐คฃ But only because I know it's okay, it's safe, and super supportive. I did feel better after looking up my symptoms after I found the lump since it sounded like a low chance of being anything serious, even if it hadn't disappeared. And yes, I did have a nice dinner (though probably ate a little too much...), thanks! ๐
My fancy salad varies, depending on my mood, but I try to always include some sort of seed, some nuts, often some cheese, and olive oil, then I pair a few other things with it, like dried fruit, or falafel/hummus, or chicken/prawns, etc. Lately, my preferred combo is dried cranberries, roquefort cheese, cashew, pumpkin seeds, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar.
Good morning all and thank you bikrgrrrl for getting us to the weekend.
Not wishing to tempt fate, but all is quiet on the home front at the moment. I went for a walk around a local shopping village yesterday, it's set in a Victorian courtyard and is outdoors so fresh air as well as a bit of exercise. It's one of those very expensive designer type places, one shop sells Rolex watches for example, so it was very much a case of window shopping only. I went more for a change of scenery really.
Only dilemma now is trying to decide on a meal plan for today, not always easy when hubby likes 'traditional' meals and I like somethinga bit different. After the Friday fish and chips we tend to eat fairly lightly on a Saturday anyway. So, my likely plan for today :
B. One small slice wholemeal toast with butter and marmalade.
L. Vegetable soup or salad.
D. Beef chilli on a tortilla wrap with salad.
E. I have to go to the shops to get more chicken for MD. Hopefully, I will also get out for a short burst with the trekking poles. I still haven't planted my indoor herb containers so really must get my hindquarters into gear and do it today. It's time to start enjoying the spring weather. Don't forget to move the clocks forward one hour before you go to bed tonight if you are in the UK.
Thank you. I really enjoy the beef chilli tortillas served up with salad, hubby would prefer it if I used the minced beef for mince and mash. I need to get a bit more organised so I can do two separate meals which would keep us both happy. It will be lovely tomorrow when it doesn't get dark until well after 7pm. Saw my first tulips coming out on the grassy bank near the marina cafe. Bright red amongst the yellow narcissi so they really stood out. Have a good day.
Iโm deffo more of a beef chilli than mince and mash kind of person! We had chilli last night and I had it with salad instead is rice and was amazing x
Hi RofD, looks like you are having a lovely weekend planned:)! Your menu looks fab and definitely low carb. Have a good walk and a potter around in the herb garden. Yesterday I bought some geraniums and decorated our window sillsooks fab already ๐๐ป
Thank you. It will hopefully be a quiet weekend which is how I like it. I made an early trip to Tesco this morning before it gets busy and decided to get a veg top up there which will save me a trip tomorrow to my usual greengrocer.
I don't actually have a herb 'garden'. Living on a boat I don't have a garden at all. These herbs are being potted up into containers which will live on a shelf in the cratch (covered front deck). I start putting stuff on the boat's roof when the weather is warmer, usually from mid May onwards. Then, with a few other things added, such as beans, courgettes, tomatoes, flowers etc, it becomes a mini roof garden.
Morning RofD and great to hear that things are feeling more normal at the moment. I love a shopping trip that's just a mooch around, i don't even have to go in the shops so its so much more enjoyable lol Hope you get what you need at the shops today and get out with your poles.
Thank you. Yes, I managed to get everything so won't need to go to the greengrocer tomorrow. I will try to remember to take a picture of the finished tortilla when it comes out of the oven. It's one of my favourite meals. Yes, I must plant the herbs today.
Iโve cut back on my screen time over the last couple of days after seeing how much time I spend โon screenโ, so ended up missing a couple of days.
Iโve been sticking to my plan of calorie tracking, as few processed carbs as possible and some form of exercise every day.
Iโve been socialising a lot over the last week and so not surprisingly have come down with a cold ๐ฉ
Not great as we have a big dance performance today so I canโt rest, and tomorrow Iโm off to a flamenco concert, followed by a meal at a pizza place. Good job my weigh in is on Sunday mornings!
First thing: 2 x coffee
Breakfast: facon butty
Dinner: Toasted red pepper tortilla and salad
Tea: All the performers are getting fed soup after the concert - there hasnโt always been a great track record of catering for vegetarians at these events so may need to look elsewhere for food.
Morning Grigid, its very easy for hours to disappear once we switch on the laptop etc isn't it. It never hurts to take a break from it, i hope you've enjoyed the free time its given you.
I hope your cold disppears quickly rather than takes hold and fingers crossed you can keep going in your dance performance today. Love the sound of your flemenco concert, enjoy.
Great food plans, hope you find something nice after the performance.
Iโve just had a message from the venue of the Flamenco Concert advising me that anti-social behaviour wonโt be tolerated! Iโm beginning to wonder whether Iโve made a big mistake! ๐๐๐
Can't blame you for cutting back on screen time. I tend to think of it like starchy carbs - very addictive!
Definitely a strenuous weekend for you so I hope you are able to get some rest afterwards, especially with a cold. Enjoy your meals and your various events.
It sounds like a busy weekend! I hope your cold doesn't hold you back and you get rid of it quickly! I hope your dance performance went well and they found something good to feed you!
Iโm just back - phew, it was a long day. The soup was vegetable, very tasty, and then there was the shared tableโฆโฆ to be fair, I did really well and had just one sandwich and then fruit ๐
Good morning fellow diarists and Bikegrrrl. I had my hour sleep in this morning (well i read not slept lol) and oh it does make things run late for me. I really don't want to get up at 6:30 when i dont have to but getting up later really puts the timings of the rest of the day out.
I h ad a great day yesterday. I took Star with me on my morning walk and we went a different way not thinking there was the big hill to get up and down lol We saw some lovely daffs and blossom trees and spotted some lambs. I've put a collage of some pics i took on the Daily Chat post if you want to have a look In the afternoon i did the 10 minute walking workout and a new core exercises video i found. Its quite simple and i can do most of it even with my hip, but you certainly feel in in your abs (i discovered i do have some in their lol). My freezer surprise for tea as jalfrezi chicken with noodles and was really really tasty. I won't freeze low carb noodles again though as they lose all the moisture as they defrost. They were edible but not ideal.
Today is a 5 dog day - my 2 and 3 holiday dogs. This morning i'm going to take the 2 littlies, Nellie and Betty with me on my walk and we're going on another route i haven't done yet. Its locally known as "Spooky" as until recently the walk went through a disused farm and there were always lots of weird noises coming from the house and barns. Its been renovated now and the pathway diverted round the new houses. This afternoon will be the youtube workouts.
My LCHF TMAD plan for today i:
L: last of the crustless quiche
T: another freezer surprise, if i had to guess i would say its a casserole but who knows lol
Exericse: walk, pottering, youtube exercise videos and physio
I always think it's rather nice to lie in bed and read, more comfy than the armchair. You did well with your exercise yesterday. What video is it for the core exercises please only I'm wondering if it would be suitable for me. I definitely need to find my hidden abs!
Enjoy your menu and have a lovely day with the dogs.
I regularly read in bed RofD as i'm not a good sleeper. I just need to get used to things being an hour later than normal when i dont get up at my normal time
youtube.com/watch?v=n3z6GVr... This hopefully is a link to the core exercise video. I followed it with Level 2 which was ok but there was more i couldn't do because of the movement restrictions i have on my new hip. I enjoyed the bits i could do though
Am having a lovely day, almost ready to settle down for a quiet evening now xx
Hello, Glad you are enjoying your walks. I am near a freezer defrost, but it is a busy family week and you never know how cold the garage will get til May๐Disappointingly, no mystery meal now, but I am enjoying tales of yours. Have a brill weekend x
Oh Hopalong, that's a job i hate doing so don't blame you for avoiding it
I'm finally nearing the end of my freezer surprises. I didn't realise i'd frozen so many meals, my intention was to be covered for the first 2 weeks after my op! Its now nearly 4 weeks and i think there's another 3 in the freezer. I've missed cooking everyday but it has been nice just being able to heat things up xx
Hi Sheepfan, yes the jalfrezi was a very pleasant surprise, really enjoyed it Yesterdays turned out to be sausage casserole and i enjoyed that too
All present and collect after the walk to Spooky and i don't think we brought any unwanted friends home with us lol
As kids, me and my siblings were very adventurous going into the woods to play where there was alsorts of bothy type buildings built into the ground that we pretended werre our houses etc, going further than we really should lol We often went to the spooky farm but it was the only place where we wandered round but didn't actually dare go into any of the buildings lol We saw many a horse being ridden through the derelict farm that pranced with their ears pricked rather than just plodded like normal for a riding school horse!!! xx
Hello Everyone, Thank you for hosting, ย ย bikegrrrl . Had a lovely time with the kids, but was all in at 10:30. Sat nursing a coffee and cream, poor old girl! ๐คฃ๐. Well, my plan is to try and stay low carb,
L Bacon, egg and big bowl of salad
D Tuna and more salad
Might go out with son and g/f. Walk with Roy, my doggy chops. Feet up and Guardian. Have an excellent Saturday x๐๐๐๐ฅ
I bet you really needed that coffee after being with lively youngsters. Have a lovely walk with Roy then enjoy that rest with the newspaper. Have a pleasant day.
Afternoon Hopalong, glad you enjoyed the day yesterday, i would have been shattered if i was on the go til 10:30 too, that's well passed my evening nap time lol We must be kindred spirits ๐คฃ๐คฃ
Love your meal plans for today and your activities. Have a fab day xx
I hope you've had a nice relaxing day and recovered from all the excitement! I'm sure the bacon and egg at lunch would help get you going, perfect chilled out Saturday food ๐
Good afternoon everyone, I missed yesterday as I was working til 5.45pm and had to be home, showered, dressed and glammed up by 7.00pm ready for the running club annual awards evening.. some fantastic achievements that I could only dream of, but then I never thought I would be attending running club award ceremony๐๐๐It is 2.00pm and I have yet to eat, I'm going to have some scrambled egg shortly.
Saturday sees date night and I am sure it will be something tasty.
I have been for a 5k run this morning even though I really, really didn't fancy going out, but I did it and am pleased I have got 3 runs in this week, and I'm getting closer to the 12 minute mile mark, so that's this weeks NSV.
Hi Siggie, sounds like a hectic day yesterday but i hope you enjoyed getting glammed up for the award ceremony. Well done on getting your 3 runs in this week and its fab that you are still creeping to the 12 minute mile you are focussed on. Nearly there, you can do it.
Hi chums, was flagging yesterday at the end of the working week, had 3 sizeable cookies, oh dear. We only had them in the house because my son has been home - he doesn't eat many but he does moan if there are none in!Today I was up and about early because I was meeting a friend in the city.
B: figs pears and Greek yogurt. Lush.
L: We had a lovely lunch - mine was Thai king prawn curry with rice. And a glass of wine.
D: will be half an avocado.
Exercise was pounding the pavements and cycling to and from the bus stop.
Not to worry about the cookies, it happens to all of us at times. Your menu today is compensating for it. Sounds as though you've been working it off with the exercise anyway. Have a pleasant evening.
Hi Bikegrrrl, oh you need to have words with your son about the cookies - he should definitely be eating them if you've got them in for him lol
I love your breakfast, i haven't had figs for quite a while and i love pears with yoghurt. Your lunch out sounds fab too, hope you had a great time with your friend.
Evening all and thanks for getting us to the end of the week bikegrrrl!
I am going to be rather hit and miss on here for a while I'm afraid, it's all systems go and pretty busy at the moment!
I hope you all remember to change your clocks, I for one am NOT looking forward to losing a whole hour of sleep! Though tbh time is kind of a liquid concept right now, other than milking which has a set time everything else just gets done when it gets done!
So today's meals have been B- porridge with banana and peanut butter D - sausages, mash, beans, beetroot and plum crumble T- half a pizza and salad then two satsumas. It's the best Saturday I've had for a long time with no snacks! Hopefully I keep it up tomorrow as weekends are always my downfall!
Tomorrows plan:
B - porridge banana and peanut butter
D - Roast beef, Yorkshire pud, roast potato, roast parsnips, broccoli, lots of gravy. Followed by strawberry trifle
T - Ham and cheese toastie and vegetable soup
Hubby got us a new toastie maker yesterday so I am itching to try it out! I've been making toasties in the frying pan since the old one gave up ๐
Morning Sheepfan. I bet you will be looking forward to that roast beef with everything being so busy. I wouldn't be able to stand the pace, not these days at any rate. I take my hat off to you. Enjoy your menu and try to get some rest whenever you can. Have a good day.
Morning Sheepfan, totally understandable that you'll be hit and miss til all the lambs have arrived, just make sure you can get some sleep when you can, have some fruit or something else healthy handy in the lambing barn in case you need food while you're busy. Are we going to get a lamb count when you do have time to chat?
Well done on your meals yesterday, oh i do love a toasty, i used to get those toasty bags so i could just do them in the toasty. Cheese and branston pickle were my favourite. Hope you like the new toasty maker
Great meals today, enjoy your roast beef dinner.
Have a great day and i hope you manaage to find some rest time here and there xx
They'll stop with their mother and just get topped up with a bottle until I catch some singles lambing, then they'll get wet mothered across and hopefully end up with three sets of twins rather than a quad and two singles!
Hi Sheepfan, Enjoy that roast beef, haven't had trifle in a while but now you have put the idea there I don't think it will be much longer. I would say don't work too hard but I think that would be impossible for you at the moment so take care.
I guess it is full-throttle lambing now. Hope all goes well. That roast beef dinner is a corker. Take care x
Good morning all. Thank you bikegrrrrl for a brilliant week's hosting.
Still having a relaxing weekend so not a great deal to report. Once it is light I will take M.D. out for his first wee and then I am going back to bed for an hour, I don't intend to lose sleep just because the clocks have changed. Otherwise, no plans to go anywhere today.
Shock, horror! I am veering away from the traditional Sunday roast for once as I have some diced lamb in the freezer that needs using. So, meals today:
B. Another break with tradition. I am going to have some leftover beef chilli tortilla.
L. Probably a piece of fruit as breakfast will be quite filling.
D. Lamb casserole, baby new potatoes, a green veg and carrots. This will be an easy cook meal as I will use the slow cooker for the casserole.
Morning RofD, oh that veef chilli tortilla looks amazing I'm going to have to try a low carb version of that meal very soon
Glad you're enjoying the relaxing weekend and i dont blame you going back to bed to catch that missed hour.
๐ฒ No roast dinner!!! Mind you i love lamb and a lamb casserole would do me just fine for sunday dinner lol Enjoy having the leftover tortilla for breakfast, nothing wrong with that
I hope your day stays restful, have a great one xx
Hi RofD, Lamb casserole sounds great especially if it is as cold where you are as it is here. I don't blame you for going back to bed. Enjoy the rest of your relaxing weekend and say hello to MD from me hope he is relaxing too.
Morning Momo. I wouldn't say it was very cold here but is definitely a lot cooler than the past few days. I am reading and dozing on my bed at the moment and MD is curled up on the other bed. He does love his home comforts. There is a lovely aroma from the kitchen as the lamb casserole is simmering in the slow cooker. I'm pleased I decided to do something different today as it adds to the relaxation.
Good morning bg from BG. I hope you've had a good week here. I'm returning, after an up-turn on my weight as I made good progress with the help of the DD a few weeks ago.
My LCHF plan for today is ...
2 coffees with ff milk and a dash of cream
Stuffed pepper: stuffed with sausage and a mix of veg
A chicken and mushroom thing, with cauliflower rice: I have some cooked chicken thighs and will do some sort of a sauce with the mushrooms, crรจme fraiche and tarragon.
No wine today: I've slipped back to buying some during the week and that's not a great idea. Drinks will be more coffee and water.
Morning BridgeGirl, lovely to have you back with us despite the circumstances. I'm sure with the help of the DD you can get back on track and get the scales moving in the right direction again.
Love your planned meals for today i love stuffed peppers. The chicken and mushroom dish sounds really tasty too.
Morning BG. Nice to see you back here, I find the DD works wonders, it helps me stay on track. I think you will start lo lose again now. Wine is also my downfall so I know how you feel. That's a well thought out menu and the chicken and mushroom sauce sounds very tasty. Enjoy it all and have a good day.
Hi BridgeGirl, Nice to see you back it does work this DD fir me it makes me plan my meals instead of just eating what is available. Those stuffed peppers sound good. Enjoy the Chicken and mushrooms.
Good morning fellow diarists and Bikegrrrl. I hope everyone remembered to put their clocks forward last night. I have happy memories of the day the clocks change as it was the last agility competition of a winter series quite a few years ago now. Unfortunately, the group that ran those shows for years all retired and there was no-one to take them over. We did one day of competing each month from October through to March and you collected points through the series for anything achieved and on the last show they were all totted up and if you had the most points in your category you got a massive rossette and a trophy. Me and Ecko managed to get 2nd place one year, we were beaten by our trainer lol
Anyway, back to the now... yesterday was good, i took the littlies with me on my morning walk round spooky and we all really enjoyed it. Its was 2 miles!! my longest walk yet since the op I can't believe its already 4 weeks since the op (well it will be tomorrow ) Considering my days aren't as packed as they would normally be the time has actually gone really quickly ๐ I was right about my freezer surprise for tea, it was sausage casserole and very nice too
Today is a holiday dog swap over day. The littlies are going home this morning and Little Eddie is coming for her holidays later today. So the day starts off as a 5 dog day then goes down to 3 then up to 4 plus kitty feeding at tea and breakfast times. This mornings walk will be up our lane and i'll take Star and Pringle with me. Eddie will come out on this afternoons walk. Tess is difficult to walk here as we have bird scarers going off and she's frightened of them. She's quite happy in the garden herding Star and Pringle lol and to be fair she doesn't often walk with her owners as she wont let them - she actually goes for them if they try to put a lead on her, and i've seen the scars!!!. She doesn't do that for me but its too risky to walk her while i'm on my crutch when the bird scarers are going off.
My LCHF TMAD plan for today is:
L: i've finally go to the day where i'm trying halloumi fries, cant wait. I'm going to fry some mushrooms and peppers with it and have some sweet chilli sauce to dip the fries in. Really excited to try these
T: bolognese from the freezer. I'l going to cook it up with cabbage and spices to make the asian cabbage stir fry that i love.
Exercise: 2 walks, pottering, video workouts and physio
I hope you didnโt put your clocks back springers!
Nice to hear about yours and Eckoโs past glories ๐๐ผ
Tess and her parents on the other hand sound like they need a visit from Graeme Hallย of โDogs Behaving Badlyโ fame to make their lives happier. Good not to risk the bird scared problem though.
I love halloumi, your plans sound delicious, enjoy! ๐
lol no, i moved them the right way (just changed it in my post ) Oh it was a lovely show, Ecko and Star both did well at those shows. Unfortunately the last one was just as i got Pringle so he never had the chance to go there ;-(
Tess is a law unto herself. They've had so many behaviourists and vets try and help over the years and nothing works. I have no idea why she behaves "normally" with me but she's been like this since they got her as a pub. I have to say they deserve more than a medal for sticking with her and not handing her back to the breeder or finding another home for her. She comes to me quite regularly and it gives them all respite
Not long til i'l be making the halloumi fries, i can't wait to try them xx
Morning springersrule. Sounds as though you had another lovely day yesterday. It must be nice that you are now able to take the dogs with you again, I think walks are more interesting with a furry friend for company. A wise decision not to take Tess though in light of her fears, not worth the risk.
Nice tasty meals lined up there and good luck with trying the halloumi fries, hope that turns out well for you. Enjoy your food and I wish you a continuation of lovely days. Xx
Morning RofD, yes its lovely to be out with the dogs again, its nice going out on my own but much better with them
Its a great day so far, just back from my morning walk with my 2 and it was really nice. Bumped into a neighbour, and his dogs, who's just come back from a holiday in the USA so got a run down of that. It made my walk feel like normal xx
Morning springersrule, now are you sure that is Bolognaise you are taking out of your freezer and not another freezer surprise? That four weeks since your op has flown by. I would suggest that you started another agility group but I can tell that you are far to busy with all the dog sitting to do that. Nice that Eddie is on her holidays again. Hope you enjoyed your walk with Star and Pringle this morning they have certainly helped with your recovery. Have a great Sunday.
Morning Momo, hahaha, yes its definitely bolognese, i remembered to take it out of the freezer last night so i can see what it is properly once its defrosted
The time really has flown by and yes the dogs have certainly been a big help. Just getting me moving every hour-ish so that they can have a play in the garden. Its spurred me on to walk far enough that its worth them coming with me too
Had a lovely walk with Star and Pringle. Bumped into a neighbour and his dogs so had a lovely natter while we all walked together xx
It is lovely to read you are healing. Goodness me your freezer must be a bottomless pit ๐คฃ๐I am feeling the need for some greens reading your lovely Asian cabbage. Have a lovely Sunday xx
lol Hopalong, is certainly fits a lot in for being small - its an upright fridge freezer that i have. I'm almost through the freezer surprises and the freezer is only half empty! lots of chicken, sausages and mince in there ready for me to get cooking again
The Asian cabbage is goregous, its a diet doctor recipe. I found a similar that uses chicken so going to try that soon xx
Good morning DDs and thank you to bikegrrrl for being a lovely host.
Yesterdayโs performance went well with lots of extra dancing at the after party so Iโm hoping that Iโve worked in a bit of credit in view of todayโs menu.
Start the day: 2 x coffee as usual
Breakfast: I want a fry-up but Iโm having Greek yoghurt with pear and a sprinkle of granola
Dinner: Falafel with a bit of hummus and salad
Tea: Pizza, and not JUST pizza, but eating out pizza ๐ฌ. Weโve got a table booked for after the Flamenco concertโฆ.
Exercise: Not much planned other than walking from the station to the concert, and back. I did LOADS of exercise yesterday, so creaking knees this morning (and Fitbit, still my best weight loss and fitness friend), are telling me that will be enough.
I should imagine all the extra dancing will be worth more than a bit of credit. Certainly it will allow for today's menu. I don't blame you for not planning any exercise today.
Enjoy your menu and have a lovely time at the concert tonight.
Hi Grigid, so good to hear the performance went well yesterday and you even did extra dancing too. I think that will definitely put you in credit for your pizza night.
I'm sure you'll get your fry-up soon but can understand why it isn't on the plan for today.
I'm with you on the rest day today, i hope you have a fab time at the concert - learn a few more dance moves hey! lol
Hello everyone, Thank you for a good week of hosting, ย bikegrrrl My company are leaving today. We have had a lovely time and the best hugs. Have some cake in the cupboard, eek! Also had a pork pie as a gift from Harrods, rude not to. Have a couple of pounds to chip away at in a low carb fashion. For Sunday then
L Pot of coffee and a tbsp of cream. Egg and bacon
D Lamb burgers and salad
Walkies, reading and generally a chill after all the excitement. Have a super Sunday ๐๐๐๐โ๐ฆบ x
Morning bikegrrl, thank you for hosting this week you have done an excellent job and so you can have a rest now.Usually I am a pretty upbeat and positive person but yesterday was very emotional for me. My son told me about a Facebook group about our local area past and present so I thought I would take a look. To cut a very long story short many years ago I lost two sisters one aged ten and the other 18 within a few years of each other, anyway looking at other people's school photos I noticed that one of them's best friend had posted a school photo of her sat beside my sister it brought all the grief and sadness back. However I have taken another look this morning and seen some lovely things said about both sisters by people who remember them so I am very much uplifted now.
Sooo onto my plan for today:
B. Bacon, egg and tomatoes, one slice of toast and half a grapefruit.
Oh Momo, that must have been really tough. I'm so glad you went back and looked again and saw all the positive comments so it could be a happy memories, not a sad one. Sending you hugs anyway ๐ซโค๏ธ
Enjoy your lovely meals today, i would enjoy them all if you deleted the cottage part of the cheese llol.
Thanks for the hugs Springersrule I really appreciate it. I am glad too that I went back and had another look. I too would have preferred proper cheese instead of cottage cheese but I am trying to be good at the moment.
That sounds like a very difficult day Momo. Grief catches us unawares doesnโt it? Iโm glad youโre able to think positively about the lovely things people have said about your sisters.
Hi Momo. Grief never fully leaves us and various situations can bring it back in an instant. It is understandable that you would be very emotional seeing that photo.
I am so glad, though, that you felt able to go back to the site and read all the lovely things said about your sisters.
Enjoy your meals and have a nice day, possibly with some happy memories.
Thanks RofD your right about grief it never truly leaves you but we go on in life until something like yesterday triggers the memory of it. I am fine now. It is nice to know that it is not just us as a family who remember them, the youngest is remembered by people as a quiet child and the elder one has having a great sense of humour.
Hi HazelP17. It's lovely to hear from you even if it is a flying visit. I seem to recall you have been going through a tough time yourself recently. I hope that situation is starting to be resolved. Please be assured we are here for you when needed. Hugs to you and Beaverchild.
