Hello everyone and welcome to the Fit is Fun Club!
Fit for Fun is an all inclusive club to cover all activity and all abilities and the aim is for each of us to highlight our preferred activities and give us all new ideas for exercise.
This thread will be open from Monday to Sunday and a new one posted each Monday.
The idea is for you to post your exercise achievements from last week and your proposed goals for this coming week. This will not be a competition but declared plans are easier to stuck to and encouragement and support from fellow members are good motivators.
If you are used to post photos please feel free to post as many as you wish. (You have to do a separate post, then copy ans paste the link to your reply here).
Last week I just came back from a long and much needed holiday! I just ran once during those holiday and we walked and cycled a lot!
I’d like to run more next week!
I’ll be happy to read all about your achievements and goals for next week!
I wish you all a great week!😊🍀
The ability to reply to this post has been turned off.
Lovely pictures!! You are really lucky to have some natural spaces with animals so close to your home. It must be great to go walking with such environment (I have to deal with cars and traffic lights)
It’s mostly walking to the station & back to get to work & then up lots of stairs at work .I work in a nine story building & we try to avoid the lifts due to Covid . We have limited toilets that we can use & I think running up & down 3 or 4 flights of stairs multiple times a day helps 🤪.
I then go for a nice walk at the weekend .
I’m not sure how accurate it is so I then to go for the Active 10 minutes instead.
I think if I wasn’t so active I would be much fatter 😩
Last week, I managed 3 workout videos and walked each day (the distance varied depending on what needed doing). My goal for this week is 4 home workouts. I find them hard to fit in with work (busiest time of year so swamped with tasks) and looking after my son but hoping I can get up early a few times without over doing it. I'll still be walking for school runs etc. (not a goal as no other way of getting my son to school, but still exersize!)
Exercise is exercise ... even washing the dishes !! 4 workouts is a great goal, hope that you can fit in your busy life next week ! What kind of videos do you like?
Lovely picture Madameirir!! Thats fantastic that youve enjoyed your holidays and had time to cycle and walk.
I went back to work a few weeks ago although on a mix system (telework and work in the office). That means more normal movement (I walk to work) but also less time for other type of exercises. Besides, I am still arranging the house after painting so I have boxes to move and unpack.
I managed more than 10000 steps everyday (on average) and went to run twice. It was hard because I havent gone running since 3rd August so almost a month ago!! (afterwards I was painful with stiches!! 😆.
My streching and planck exercises were forgotten during the past weeks. I hope I can get back to them with normal life and worse weather (with nice weather I prefer to go outside if I can).
Enjoy the return to work (and schools) Have a nice week!!
I've been hiking a little bit during my holidays. I went to the island of La Palma (Canary Islands) very recomendable for hiking, trekiing and walking!! ... and lovely weather (not too hot not too cold)
I am struggling to get my steps in lately, I am averaging about 6000 instead of my usual 10000 but it's something to work on.
My exercise routine:
Monday - 45 min circuit training with weights (already done)
Tuesday - C25K - Week 5, run 2 (to do after work today, run 1 done on Sunday)
Wednesday - 45 min circuit training with weights, 15 min abs
Thursday - 45 min to 60 min yoga
Friday - will probably end up as rest day, as I get some food shopping and fill up the car after work on Fridays
Saturday - C25K - Week 5, run 3
Sunday - 45 min to 60 min yoga
I am trying to stick to the routine I would normally follow if all my classes were back as it's a pre-established habit and easier to stick to (in theory, at least). I have been giving the yoga a miss the last month or so, just wasn't in the right headspace for it. I've picked up the C25k as a way to incorporate a bit of cardio.
Ideally I would like to incorporate one more strength session and eventually 5k runs 3 times a week, but am wary of giving myself too much to do as it can make me feel overwhelmed and unwilling to do any of it..
You already have a great plan in place for next week!! I hope you have a lot of fun next week exercising. Well done too for your steps! Good luck for next week!🍀👍😊
Thank you for hosting and I’m so pleased you had a good holiday with lost of exercise 😊
I had a good week of walking, hubby hurt his ankle so I have been doing 100% of the dog walking, over 26km. I managed two yoga sessions and some HIIT on the bike
I’m also over one third of the way through my “600 miles before I’m 60” challenge, I’m wishing now I’d plotted the route on a virtual map . . . May well do that 😊
Here’s my collage from last week, a few photos of me taken by hubby sitting on the seat watching me walk. Plus a lovely action shot of the dog, who completely upstages me every time 😂❤️🐾
Thank you for hosting I'm glad that you had an active, and, enjoyable holiday.
I was feeling a bit under the weather, all of last week, and wasn't feeling up to much. I did push myself to go out on 2 hikes (because of my dog really) and we hiked 10 something KM (over the two walks).
So, for this week, starting today (until Sunday) I aim to hike between 12 to 15 KM, depending on the weather, as we are going into the stormy season.
I have contacted a walking club, but most of their walks are not near me, and are in the northern area of the Province, where I live. They meet on a Saturday and walk 10 to 18 KM. It is my aim, to be able to join next month, or, November, and try some of the shorter walks with them, so I need to up my distance (but, I need new walking shoes first).
Belated hello, been relaxing and realised its mid-week and I've still not posted my details from last week. Well since I had managed to achieve over 10,000 steps per day but did n do any zumba on the one day I could have done but otherwise managed 589 brisk mins , 86.57km and 126996 steps over the week.
This week won't be doing any zumba mainly because on my days off I have either just finish nights and things planned in the early morning it won't be happening this. I am hoping to achieve 5 out of 7 days of 10,000 steps/day though it may be 4 out of 5 since I am going to my brother's for the weekend so not sure what will be happening apart from teenager sitting Saturday night so they can go out to celebrate their anniversary.
That’s my friend dog for you- I like to take him for long walks in the morning!
I’m usually ok with the teenager sitting as long as they have the electronics the problem usually starts when they have to handthem in I find out from my brother how many devices they need to hand in an hour behold bedtime usually but they try it anyway- it’s fun watching them try
Hello! I'm a newbie to the group.. I have the gym bug! I joined a just over a week ago and it's the best thing I've done, I absolutely love it.. I do the treadmill, the recumbent bike, and I've just started doing the sitting chest press..
I normal do a mile uphill on the treadmill, 3-4 miles on the bike, and lifting 10lb on the chest press.
I was very anxious about going to the gym... I dont know why... its brilliant!
A month ago I had a go at the c25k, but failed, the running was very hard.. so concentrated on losing some weight and strengthen my legs.... I'm 2lb off losing a stone, weigh in is on Wednesday.. I'm much more stronger now and so I'm having another go at the c25k on Tuesday.
I post everyday on my Instagram page, so have great support on there too!
Never in a million years would I have thought that at 48 years old I'd ever say I enjoy working out!
You definitely sound as though you've got the bug!
This Fit is Fun post will be closing shortly and the new one, where members post about what they've been doing this past week, will open, so you'll get more chat at the beginning of the week How about taking a photo of anything that you see while exercising or anything that represents it, then link it into the FiF post
You sound very motivated and that’s great! You have a great plan! I think that working out is a great way to take a break from every day life! Well done! 👍 I wish you all the best for next week!😊🍀
