Hello everyone and welcome to the Fit is Fun Club!
Fit for Fun is an all inclusive club to cover all activity and all abilities and the aim is for each of us to highlight our preferred activities and give us all new ideas for exercise.
This thread will be open from Monday 28th March to Sunday 3rd April.
The idea is for you to post your exercise achievements from last week and your proposed goals for this coming week. This will not be a competition but declared plans are easier to stuck to and encouragement and support from fellow members are good motivators.
If you are used to post photos please feel free to post as many as you wish.
This month has been hard because we all caught the Covid, so we stayed 2 weeks at home and now we have some kind of stomach flue...
But this past week I cycled again, and I was happy to have recoverred from the Covid, well now I’m sick again... hopefully I’ll be better in 3 days. I’ll try my best to reply to your messages !
I’ll be happy to read all about your achievements and your goals for next week!
Oh dear what a month you and your family have had- hopefully April will be better for you. I have had a good week but still no Wii- no enthusiasm for it- I could blame a painful shoulder- going for physio on Tuesday who thinks from my symptoms it could be early onset frozen shoulder, though that would be a lie!
I managed 7 days of 10000+ steps which was my target (99814steps/60.6km) and 305 mins of brisk walking.
I am off this week (and next week) and I was going to have Alfie for a couple of days but he was ill after his jollies with his owner's daughter and he has still not fully recovered. I will take him for short walks around his home so not sure whether I will manage the 10000 steps/day on those days- will just have to see how he is though I have been told he is getting better. On Saturday I am driving up North to my sister's near Berwick- 4-5hrs of driving and today I am having to stay in for someone to give me a quote for insulation improvement, So I hope to achieve 5 days of 10000 steps and depending on shoulder and weather some gardening.
Thank you.You did really well with the steps! I hope your shoulder gets better! I hope Alfie recovers very soon too. I’m sure you’ll do great this week!
Hi! Sorry for your shoulder. I Hope that It is not Frozen because It can be a long recovery. Poor Alfie he must have enjoy too much his time off, eating and relaxing. Enjoy this week!!
Hi RG, great number of steps last week but sorry to hear about your shoulder. I hope the physio has helped. I hope you manage to get some quality time with Alfie and that he's doing better now.
Unfortunately the appt got cancelled since he sustained an injury but had a telephone appt and he give me an exercise to do twice a day until I see him in 3 weeks- when i'm back from leave he starts
Good afternoon Hidden & thanks for hosting. I’m sorry to hear that you have been unwell especially after already having Covid . I hope that you are fully recovered now. This week I have done quite well& according to the Active 10 app I have briskly walked for 405 minutes out of a total 559 minutes walked .
I have also done 10 minutes on the cross trainer .
On Saturday we went to a Covid Commemorative Event in Colchester so this is the Castle & Roman wall in my photos.
Morning everyone and Madameirir. So sorry to hear you've had a rough time including covid. My DIL has been similar, had covid followed by a stomach upset and now full of cold. I hope you are feeling much better now.
Well i didn't get round to posting last week so i've got 2 weeks to report on.
w/c 14/3 - target was to achieve 10,000 steps per day (as usual) plus 3 x 20/25 minute jogs with a view to restarting the park runs in April. I managed the steps but not the jogging. My left hip which has been arthritic for quite a while (10+ years) started playing up so i'm having to put the jogging on hold for now. I've seen my gp and have a referreal to my hip consultant (I have a replacement right hip so on his books already) Not sure how long i'll have to wait for an appointment, but hopefully it wont be too long. My steps total for the week was 88,965.
w/c 21/3 (last week) target as to achieve 10,000 steps per day and to find a workout video that wouldn't upset my hip. I have gone back to the workout videos by Yes2Next that i did when my knee was fractured as they are quite gentle. So i did 2 x 20 minutes workouts on top of walking and my steps total for the week was 92,297. I'm in the middle of some very busy dog weeks and easter school hols start next week so that'll me kept busy for a couple more weeks too lol
This weeks targets are 10,000 steps per day plus 3 x 20 minute workout videos.
I hope everyone is doing well and pleased with the exercise they are doing. It never has to be a lot, every little we can do helps.
Thanks Madameirir. The GP gave me some better medication so that is helping with my hip. I can keep going most of the day as long as i keep my striding quite short and take regular breaks. xx
Thanks Henderslh, its taking me longer to do everything i need to do but at least i can keep doing it lol. I haven't heard anything yet but its still early days considering the backlogs they have xx
I have to admit that my leg has been hurting more with the cold & damp weather. I think it’s partly due to the fact that I have been spoiled by working from home for most of the winter so have been out later in the day when it’s a bit warmer & not icy .
So far the weather doesn't seem to affect my arthritis - phew!. I'm assuming its a trauma reaction from having 2 sugeries in the last 9 months. I have a history of this happening in response to having operations x
Hi Gman and well done on getting out for walks. I always find a good walk helps to de-stress. I like my walking boots, they give more support to my ankles than the shoes do. It might be worth trying them though for a comparison.
Thanks springersrule,Not tried them yet looking to go tomorrow for a good walk .Just got a slight muscle twinge at the side of knee ,more so at night .
So pleased you are out and about . I am running up and down the columns of 'Indeed ' at the moment looking for another job . I refuse to be so stressed at my age (62 ) but still feel I have a lot to give an employer plus need the money !
My industry - childcare has a shortage of qualified Nursery Nurses . I think 2 years of study , regular update training for Asda wages puts a lot off . I phoned 3 local nurseries up and they are willing to chat .
Hi Madameirir!! Sorry to Heat that you caught covid and that you are feeling illl this days. Hopefully It Will last only a few days and you can enjoy cicling again. Spring is coming as your picture shows. In Spain after a mild winter It seems that all the rain is falling this couple of weeks so weather is cold and went.
Nevertheless i managed almost a 12000 steps average per day (11998) which os perfect. I went to 4 dance classes but i skipped my roller skate due to the rain. I did 3 plancks sessions which i am very proud of because It means going back to the routine.
The weather this week is Also quite raining so i dont know what Will happen to my skating.
Hi xx2000, sorry to hear you're weather isn't good for skating but well done on all you have managed to do. We've had snow, sleet and hail the last couple of days so hoping spring returns quickly for both of us xx
Evening, not a brilliant picture as it was too far for my phone camera really, but we saw a heron on our morning walk today. It just stood there for ages. Thought i would share it with you xx
Thanks for being a fabulous host this week Madameirir. I hope everyone has had a good week and look forward to chatting to you all with xx2000 from tomorrow xx
