Hello everyone and welcome to the Fit is Fun Club!
Fit for Fun is an all inclusive club to cover all activity and all abilities and the aim is for each of us to highlight our preferred activities and give us all new ideas for exercise.
This thread will be open from Monday to Sunday and a new one posted each Monday.
The idea is for you to post your exercise achievements from last week and your proposed goals for this coming week. This will not be a competition but declared plans are easier to stuck to and encouragement and support from fellow members are good motivators.
If you are used to post photos please feel free to post as many as you wish. (You have to do a separate post, then copy ans paste the link to your reply here).
This week I just cycled a bit and I ran once for 40 minutes. I still have to homeschool my children, luckily not every day now. They still have school until the end of July here...
Hopefully I’ll be able to exercise a little bit more next week!
I’ll be happy to read all about your achievements and your goals for next week!
I wish you all a great week!😊🍀

Thanks for hosting . I walk my 2 terriers daily . I have a garmin but took it off as I was obsessed I was averaging 12000 steps a day and would get upset if I didn’t do it so it was becoming unpleasant . May put it on again but it does take the pleasure out of walking for me . Since lock down I have been doing exercise on Zoom with my class . So Monday it is weights for an hr I only have beans in a tin for that . Wednesday it is super seniors keep fit followed by Pilates then Friday afternoon we do a stretch into the weekend class which is a gentle Pilates . Do not have much more time for any more exercise but will try and keep it up . I am not a natural at exercise so have to push myself lol .
Thanks for hosting this week I have had a fairly successful week- achieved most of my goals- 3 Wii exercises but still not achieved the magic bonus round I had thought I'd manage 7x10,000steps a day- but managed it for 6 days. quiet day at work yesterday so didn't get much walking done- but over the week I achieved 98097 steps (65.34km).
This week will be a bit of a challenge since I am doing nights which always takes me a day or 2 to recover from so my plans for this week is:
Good morning Madameirir and thank you for hosting, what a lovely image you’ve chosen! I have wild poppies that self seed in my garden and love them
I had a good week, achieved my 150 minutes of ‘brisk’ walking according to the Active 10 App (Total walking 365 minutes, 157 brisk) ✅ plus two Yoga sessions.
This week it’s been a whole year since I was told the ankle fusion had been a Success and I was given permission to start rehabilitation, it’s been quite a journey! Also this week sees the start of public parks and garden re-opening up here in Scotland so all we need now is some nice weather, it’s like November here today! ☔️😱🌧🌊
I managed 48.82 (6.97) so pretty happy with that .. still way below what I was doing last summer but I'm only going to aim to keep 5.5 average thru to September as it's still feeling an effort to go out!
Its getting better and its important to listen to your body especially when you have been unwell. Hopefully your lighter lockdown will remain in place since just heard another area has been shutdown again.
Gracias - trying to keep going and not buy any more chocolate mini-rolls (serious problems with sweet stuff at the moment!). ... beer not helping but hey one thing at a time (yes I know before anyone tells me that this is not great!) xxx
Mine is crisps and having a bad time with it at the moment- not just small bags but the 150g ones not even hungry when I eat them and though I don't go in the shops to buy them and often have a very vigorous conversation in my head on why I shouldn't buy them I often successful until the end as I am going to the till- where they often have a box full on discounted crisps/snacks.
Thanks for hosting! I LOVE your picture. Hope that this week you find also time for yourself with children at school, they can be very demanding at home!!.
Last week just one short run but more ella outside. An average of 6.8 km and 398 active minutes (almost 400 !! ) . This week i am on holidays so i dont know if i will have an active or lazy week. I am by the sea so i hope i can swim a little, and i have with me my running gear but i will see. It is too hot so i will have to wake up really early if i want to run .... Wake up early? On holidays? 🤔🤔 Not sure !!
Enjoy the break - but keep distance!! So far Torrox beach OK but many more people to come ... might have to stick to hills and valleys round the Pueblo if gets silly ... for now my favourite chiringuito is open again and out of main bit of Costa so fairly empty - ¡dedos cruzados!
Hi Mademirir, thanks for hosting. I've done in excess of 17,000 steps a day since July 1st as I'm on a million step challenge over 2 months. I'm also doing Team Body Project video exercises.
This week I'm going to continue my 17,000+ steps and video exercising 6 times this week. May even try a run.
Wow I am impressed- lockdown has either helped people get more into fitness since they have either been unfortunately (or not!) been unable to go to work or because there was limited opportunity at the beginning to go out people want to use the time of freedom to good use!
Yes, the clubbercise is usually in a local hall and now via zoom. The yoga is my cousin, so I can’t normally join her classes because she lives too far away. They are on zoom too.
Does anyone have any tips for maintaining muscle mass whilst losing weight and exercising? I know I should eat protein...but how much? What other foods will help? I'm walking over 17,000 steps a day and completing exercise videos 4 x a week and a run now and again. My calorie intake a day is just over 1680.
Hi Wordsworth2, I'm definitely no expert, so I'm going to tag Hidden and TheAwfulToad You'll find, as with elsewhere that you look, that they will have a slight difference of opinion on the amounts of protein required. Here's something else to look at healthline.com/nutrition/ho...
I would suggest resistance training to prevent muscle wastage and not restricting calories, rather eating the correct foods that your body requires for optimum health. Have a look at this healthunlocked.com/api/redi...
Don't forget that rest is as important as the exercise, so don't overdo it
Thanks moreless, I'm having a complete day off once a week where I eat the right foods but don't restrict my calories in any way. The videos I am following have resistance in them, so hopefully that's covered. I am also adding 300 calories to my daily allowance on Wednesdays too. Thanks for the links and tags and advice.
Morning all. Today I plan to do a 5k run (the steps of this run will be included in my step count for the day), 17,000+ steps and a workout video. I want to try out my new running shoes, so really looking forward to the running more than the video. Hope you all have a great day; keep those endorphins flowing!
