Hi, I'm convinced my hair is thinning on the top especially at the front. I'm 44. Is there anything I can take/do to help. Any recommendations greatly appreciated.

Thinning hair can be a sign of an underactive thyroid. You can check out the Thyroid UK forum for more information healthunlocked.com/thyroiduk
assuming you are a woman... get your doctor to do blood tests to check your iron levels, thyroid and hormone levels and generally give you a health MOT.
Eat a very nutritious diet and practice relaxation techniques and try to manage any stress.
I use Plantur 39 caffeine shampoo though it is hard to say if it really helps, I quite like this shampoo, but my hair goes through phases of being better and worse so it is hard to be sure. I have also tried various vitamin and mineral supplements such as 'Skin, Hair and Nails' from H&B, again couldn't swear that they help, maybe a little.
Try to work out what is causing the thinning with the help of your doctor so that you can treat any underlying causes.
Mine seems to be mainly the menopause and stress (I am older than you but mine started years ago during a very stressful bereavement and has got worse with age and change of hormone levels)
Sometimes I use a bit of L'oreal magic retouch.
Thank you so much. I'm under a lot of stress at the minute and really need to find ways to manage this better. My mum has very little hair on top and maybe this is genetics and beyond my control but I really appreciate you taking the time to reply. Much appreciated.
according to my mum her gran had hardly any hair and wore a wig which doesn't bode too well for me
has you mum found anything helpful? what age did she start thinning on top?
I do believe managing stress is really important. I literally developed bald patches when very stressed and it improves somewhat when I am in a calm good mood. Ironically stressing about the state of my hair doesn't help, but not stressing about it is easier said than done
Thanks for your reply sunny369. Mum was told she had left if too late to really make a difference to her hair and I suppose that's why I'm being so proactive about trying to hold onto mine. I know I could really benefit from managing stress as my husband of 20+ years left in January and with covid it has been a tough few months. Really must look into how I can manage my stress levels. Take care.
that's hard, I'm sorry. I certainly felt a total wreck after my husband of many years left me but eventually after some time had passed I felt and looked much better and found a new healthier, happier and stronger me.
I am sure you are right to be proactive about your hair and anything else you can be for your well being during this time, you will come out the other side of Covid and everything eventually Take care
