Weight loss : Hi I'm Michelle and I need... - Weight Loss Support
Weight loss
Hello Michelle and welcome.
You've come to the right place for fantastic support. I'll think you'll find that most people here don't look at their weight loss journey as a 'diet' but more in terms of a lifestyle change. To create healthy, manageable patterns that we are happy to continue, once our goals have been achieved.
If an administrator hasn't already responded, then they will shortly. They will provide you with all the information you will need to help you make those changes in your life style, so it's well worth taking the time to read it all in detail and understand what is being said.
All the best!
rather than focus on the 4 stone which does sound a lot, break it down- from other posting from others they advocate breaking it down into loosing 1/2 stone segments for every 2 months- thats allowing 1ld weight loss each week (its reccommended to loose 1-2lbs per week) so you will have some weeks when you won't loose weight and others when you loose 2+lbs so set realistic goals. Also others recommend measuring various parts of your body- mid- upper arms, chest, waist, hips, mid-thighs, and calfs so even if you haven't lost weight you may have lost inches/cms. I wish I had done this because though I think my legs are thinner I don't know for definite since I have only measured my waist. Though some of my old trousers which when I decided in january i needed to loose weight, I couldn't pull up pass my thighs I now can wear!
Good luck

I watch a young American guy on YouTube called John Glaude who has a channel called Obese to Beast. he lost 190 lbs and the trick he said kept him focussed WA to think of it as losing 1lb and then repeating that 190 times.
Welcome Chell75. You will get lots of support here. Take the time to read through YellowRose55 post there is lots of information there, all really useful. In fact I think I will remind myself of some of the great stuff. I started 14 weeks ago and not only does it work but I really enjoy it as well.
I agree with RG07 try to break it down into smaller targets. It will help.
Many people here have experienced a similar situation when it came to weight loss but like Triggerr said the moment I stopped thinking of it as a diet and more like a lifestyle change something clicked and the weight started coming off. So far I've lost 13lbs.
Good luck and enjoy it.
Good and keep at it. X
Hi Michelle... Welcome..I know you feel this going to be a long journey and it is. However, the benefits of a healthy eating plan and light exercise will see great results both physically and mentally. I joined my local Slimmimg World group and in total lost 3 Stone. I started putting some weight back on and I thought here we go again. Look at my previous post. I re joined bought a fitbit..not an expensive one and in 17 days I was back on track. This week is free membership to join with the WOMAN MAGAZINE. I recommend it to anyone. The FitBit is an absolute god send it motivates you to MOVE even just in the house. I have copd and winter has been a nightmare along with type 2 diabetes I just know I will carry on doing what I'm doing. Eat less move more is definitely the answer but make sure you do not over do exercise. Good Luck xxx
Hi Chell75 and welcome! I find that looking at it as if I have a lot of weight to lose, which I do, often brings me down. I work on eating healthier and drinking tons of water, walking more and sitting less will bring a small lose that I am thrilled to have happen. I try to make it in 2 pound increments and that is so much simpler than to say I have 5stone to lose. also, I am 50 so it makes it more difficult to change bad habits that I have had for 40+ years. but I do it one small step at a time and that feels so much more manageable. so good luck and chin up!
Hi and welcome .
I echo the advice of the others , it's 1 lb at a time, except ups and downs , don't give up, be part of the forum , chat a lot , join in, read others , know we are all here for each other, and most importantly we are all on a journey and it's the ride that's important .
The forum helped and continues to help me so much
So well done for joining x lots of inspiration on here . I look forward to sharing your journey with you
